The Female Lead Decides to Act Wickedly

Chapter 518: Chapter 218: The Top-grade Classical Prose (Part 10)

”Calculations? Tiantian, you can still do calculations?”

He Yaohua finished work and the first thing he did was visit his daughter in the hospital.

Lately, the factory’s research and development had been progressing very smoothly, thanks to the blueprints copied by He Tiantian.

Though they lacked face-to-face guidance from experts, with the highly detailed materials, Chief Engineer Seo led a team of engineers and technicians in conducting their research with great effect.

Work was going well, and his daughter had woken up, leaving He Yaohua in a very pleasant mood.

As soon as he entered the hospital room, He Yaohua heard He Tiantian’s statement.

As a leader, He Yaohua was very adept at focusing on the important points.

”Yeah, although I don’t understand, I just know how to calculate it!” He Tiantian replied casually.

”12*15 equals what?”

He Yaohua, however, had something on his mind because of an incident at work today.

He thought for a moment and then suddenly asked!

Without hesitation, Tiantian blurted out the answer: ”180.”

After saying the number, Tiantian, somewhat bored, said, ”Dad, that’s too easy. Give me something harder.”

”What’s 10 to the power of 10? Oh, right, a power means multiplication, that is, what do ten 10s multiplied by each other equal?”

He Yaohua continued to ask questions, considering that Tiantian had only attended a few years of primary school and probably didn’t understand what exponents were, he quickly added an explanation.

”10 billion!”

Tiantian rolled her eyes, ”Dad, I know what a power is. I haven’t even completed primary school, but I’ve been playing in the small western-style building for the past few months.”

”Those Soviet experts often researched these topics. Advanced mathematics, physics, chemistry, materials science, I’ve come across all related materials!”

”I’ve just shut off my brain, afraid to think deeply, but I can store all the information.”

After listening to He Tiantian’s words, He Yaohua was both surprised and puzzled.

He was thrilled because his own daughter was indeed a genius, not only remembering the experts’ notes and materials but also having ”stolen” quite a lot of other knowledge.

What he didn’t understand, though, was, ”What do you mean by shutting off your brain?”

Why not use a perfectly good brain?

The old saying goes, the more you use your brain, the sharper it gets.

He Yaohua was puzzled, but Wu Zhuoya had already figured it out.

She pulled He Yaohua aside, whispering a few words into his ear.

He Yaohua was somewhat astonished; it was the first time he had heard that having an ”unforgettable” memory could have such serious downsides.

But thinking about it, he understood, yes, if the memory was good, then surely everything would be remembered.

Bad things, good things, anything that was experienced or seen firsthand, would be deeply etched in the mind.

Tiantian, when younger, didn’t know how to control it and was frightened by those bad memories, so she had shut off her brain.

This time, the experts’ departure turned out to be an opportunity for Tiantian to reopen her mind and find a way to control and use her brain effectively.

”Tiantian, can you really control it now?”

He Yaohua was excited that his darling daughter possessed an invincible brain, but as a father, he didn’t want his daughter to endure too much pain.

”Yeah, yeah, in addition to wearing gloves and sunglasses, I’m also planning to partition my brain, like a disk. I’m dividing it into several sectors: some for useful knowledge, some for calculations, and some for storing memories that make me unhappy!”

Tiantian popped a Big White Rabbit milk candy into her mouth while speaking with an air of seriousness.

”Also, you must ensure I get enough nutrition, so I can really get my brain working!”

He Yaohua:...

Uh, this analogy from my little girl sounds vaguely familiar.

Last month when he went to Capital City for a meeting, he had visited that electronic computer in Capital City.

Good heavens, the machine was as big as several large wardrobes, and the rows of vacuum tubes were dizzying to look at.

The function of the electronic computer seemed to be partitioned too.

Some were responsible for calculations, others for storage, some for graphics, others...

He Yaohua didn’t quite understand, but he was profoundly impressed by the sheer size of the machine.

Moreover, he had heard that with such a computer, it could perform ten thousand calculations per second, much more efficient than manual work.

Such machines were scarce and complicated to use and maintain, reserved only for significant projects.

For instance, most of the calculations for the Mushroom Egg project in Capital City were done through 104.

Although a military factory like He Yaohua’s was also developing important projects, compared to Mushroom Egg, it still fell short.

So, specific calculations still needed to be performed by technical personnel using slide rules, hand-cranked calculators, or simply using abacuses.
