The Female Lead Decides to Act Wickedly

Chapter 513: Chapter 216: Top-grade Classical Literature (Part 8)_2

Though the child had a penchant for eating a little too much, she didn’t have any particularly bad habits.

I guess it was the hardships she suffered when she was little that led to such behavior.

The first time He Tiantian had an ”episode,” Chief Engineer Seo had not seen it, but his wife happened to be there to witness it and talked about it in gestures and details when she returned.

Chief Engineer Seo was so frightened that after dinner, the old couple took a bag of brown sugar to the hospital to visit He Tiantian.

Seeing the child’s pale face and how weak she looked, Chief Engineer Seo couldn’t help but feel distressed—ah, such a pity!

Now hearing from He Yaohua that the child was sick again and had been sent to the military hospital, he asked with concern,

”When I left the hospital, they were still trying to resuscitate her. Sigh, last time she was unconscious for several days. This time—it seems to be more serious than before.”

He Yaohua’s face was etched with worry and guilt as he mentioned his daughter’s condition.

”...” Chief Engineer Seo also sighed.

He was a few years older than He Yaohua, and as an elder, what they hated to see most was ”a parent burying their child.”

Ah spit! Damn bad luck.

What burying their child, Tiantian is just suffering from malnutrition—

Wait a second!

Chief Engineer Seo seemed to catch on to an important point.

He looked at He Yaohua suddenly, his mind already churning: what exactly was the deal with these documents, as soon as He Tiantian woke up, they could ask her directly for clarity.

But He Yaohua, always calm and principled, was in such a hurry to confirm this matter, probably to secure a ”reward” for He Tiantian.

He Tiantian was severely malnourished, so what she needed most was nutritional supplements.

It was a difficult time for the nation, although there were principles from above: to ensure the quality of life for frontline scientific research personnel.

But as the head of the military factory, He Yaohua always led by example.

For many years, the couple had been supporting the orphans of fallen comrades, and there were several children in their home... The He Family’s standard of living was probably not as good as that of an ordinary technician.

Moreover, even if the He Family had money, they wouldn’t be able to buy meat, eggs, and other nutritional supplements given the current situation.

Old He was pinning his hopes on the logistics department’s specially provided ”top-grade” goods for experts.

Poor Old He, with all his loving father’s heart, but after all, this matter didn’t exactly break the rules.

Without delving into the origins of the documents, the fact that the He Family could produce such complete documentation was in itself a great achievement.

And where there’s contribution, there should be recognition, and that’s basic logic.

With these thoughts in mind, Chief Engineer Seo didn’t make his statement too clear, ”Tiantian isn’t one of our factory workers, yet she was able to procure such important documents! She deserves to be rewarded!”

”Right, I remember the logistics department should still have some imported milk powder and canned luncheon meat. How about we reward Tiantian with some for starters!”

He Yaohua’s eyes lit up when he heard Chief Engineer Seo’s words, but he still hesitated.

Chief Engineer Seo smiled and pointed at He Yaohua with his finger in the air, ”You old stickler, always following the rules no matter what.”

”Alright, alright, I’ve got it, I’ll write up an application right now, then submit it to the factory director’s office, to prevent you from being accused of ’abusing power for personal gain!’”

They were old colleagues, who didn’t understand each other?

Chief Engineer Seo took a pen from his upper pocket, tore off a blank piece of paper, and started writing briskly.

He Weijun too was quick-witted, and as soon as his teacher finished writing, he hurriedly took the paper with both hands and ran off to the factory director’s office to follow procedures.

He Yaohua didn’t utter any polite words but smiled and clasped his hands towards Chief Engineer Seo.

Chief Engineer Seo gave him a roll of the eye in return, then carefully took a stack of blueprints and scurried off to continue his research with the technical staff.

Watching Chief Engineer Seo’s hurried back, He Yaohua let out a long breath: good news, the factory’s problems had been resolved, and even his daughter’s nutritional needs were looking up. Everything was moving in a positive direction.

...

”Tiantian, come, drink your milk powder!”

Wu Zhuoya stood by the hospital bed, holding a small bowl and a spoon, pouring milk into the closed mouth, one spoonful at a time.

”It’s good, isn’t it! You’ve wanted to drink it for a long time, right? This time, your dad, oh no, our factory has rewarded you with two big cans, enough for one or two months.”

”Also, there are canned lunch meats, yellow peaches, and hawthorn.”

”Furthermore, your dad and I have gathered quite a few meat tickets, totalling up to three pounds! Once you’re better, Mom will cook you some braised pork!”

”The layered pork belly, stewed for an hour in a clay pot until it’s tender and sticky—guaranteed to be delicious!”

”Tiantian, stop sleeping, wake up quickly, there are so many things your mom and dad and your brothers and sisters want to tell you!”
