The Female Lead Decides to Act Wickedly

Chapter 501: Chapter 212: Top-grade Classical Literature (Part 4)_2

Three biological siblings, either studying abroad or at the university, while He Tiantian, who grew up in the rural countryside and had never even been to the County, didn’t understand what studying abroad or going to university meant.

But seeing the looks of envy or flattery from others, He Tiantian knew that her brothers and sisters must be living the good life in the city.

Eating meat at every meal, making new clothes every month, living what He Tiantian imagined to be an Immortal’s life.

Yet she, also a biological daughter of the same parents, started working from the time she could remember, never getting enough to eat or having warm clothes, and by the time she was sixteen or seventeen, she didn’t even have a single new dress.

She only attended a few years of elementary school, barely avoiding illiteracy.

And now, she was almost married off by her foster parents to an old and ugly rural man...

He Tiantian felt a severe imbalance in her heart, and feelings of resentment grew within her.

She hated her biological parents for having four children but abandoning only her in the countryside.

She hated her brothers and sisters; how could they enjoy comforts while she suffered hardships in the countryside?

She even grew to hate her foster parents, feeling that they deliberately hid her background to prevent her from finding her biological parents.

As for why the foster parents hid this, the answer was obvious, they wanted to use her for a dowry, expecting her to support her natal family in the future.

He Tiantian cursed her fate.

However, when she was first brought back by her biological parents, He Tiantian didn’t dare misbehave too much.

After all, she was just a country girl, feeling inferior and timid. Coming into a brand new environment, she felt even more anxious and out of place.

But the He Family was exceptionally kind to her, almost granting her every wish, and when she made mistakes or caused a scene, her parents never scolded her.

He Yaohua and Wu Zhuoya were both heartbroken and guilty, intending to double their love to help her reintegrate into the family.

Yet He Tiantian failed to feel her parents’ affection, instead assuming they were just morally indebted and that she deserved the tolerance and concessions from her parents and siblings.

Gradually, He Tiantian became willfully selfish, never showing any gratitude, instead becoming even more resentful and blaming others.

Whenever her sister or second brother tried to discipline or scold her, she would cry and wail, claiming they looked down on her and even said she shouldn’t have come back.

Seeing He Tiantian like this, He Yaohua and his wife felt both pained and helpless.

In the end, they still favored their deeply indebted daughter.

He Tiantian became even more reckless, paying no attention to her behavior.

She was greedy for food and money, loved taking small advantages, and even stole others’ belongings...

He Yaohua and Wu Zhuoya, who had prided themselves on a lifetime of honor and struggled for decades, saw their good reputation directly tainted by He Tiantian.

If only she had been superficially greedy or vain, it wouldn’t have been too serious.

But in 1959, the first year of the difficult three-year period, it coincided with the withdrawal of the Soviet experts.

Cold-hearted and indifferent, He Tiantian committed an act that ruined the He Family—using her personal connection with the Soviet expert Puslov, she secretly smuggled herself out of the country in the expert’s luggage.

It was not that she truly wished to betray her country, because in her perception, there was no concept of nation or ethnicity.

She only had one thought: Soviet experts could drink milk, eat bread, and have meat at every meal, along with lovely blouses. If she went to the Soviet Union, she would be able to lead that kind of good life too.

Wu Zhuoya’s family background was already quite sensitive, and just by the name, one could tell—Zhuoya, very Soviet-style.

Indeed, Wu Zhuoya had one-quarter Russian blood, as her grandmother was Russian.

However, her father grew up in Hua Country and was an early member of the Revolutionary Party.

Wu Zhuoya joined the party at fifteen, initially using her identity to work in enemy-occupied areas as an intelligence officer, later returning to the headquarters for further training and starting on the frontlines.

Decades of iron-blooded trials made her a resolute Red Party warrior.

But with a defecting daughter like He Tiantian, her identity was brought up for scrutiny, eventually leading to her isolation and review, and finally she was sent to a farm.

He Weijun and He Weihong voluntarily applied to go to the countryside to testify to their innocence.

He Weiguo, who had studied in the Soviet Union, was an engineer proficient in Russian.

Originally, he could have stayed in the foreign affairs sector, but after the incident with He Tiantian, he volunteered to go to a secret base on a deserted island.

He lived incognito for over a decade, cutting off communication from his family, not returning to the mainland until the early ’80s to reunite with them.
