My Silly, Sweet Wife

Ye Guichen didn’t hear the conversation between Huang Mao and his underlings. After wandering around nearby, he went into the Jixiang Noodle House.

Although business in the noodle house was still quite slow, it was slightly better than the previous days; at least there were one or two customers eating.

Zhao Erdan was sitting at a corner table with Yu Jieyuan, chatting about something.

Seeing Ye Guichen come in, Li Xiaoqin, who was tidying up a table, quickly greeted him, ”Oh, Mr. Ye is here!”

”Sister-in-law, don’t call me Mr. Ye anymore, just call me Guichen.” Ye Guichen smiled. Li Xiaoqin, being in her forties, calling him Mr. Ye felt too awkward.

Besides, he often interacted with them, there was no need to act superior.

But Li Xiaoqin didn’t agree, ”Mr. Ye, even Old Zhao calls you Boss, it’s right for me to call you Mr. Ye. Moreover, if it weren’t for you, we wouldn’t know how to go on living now.”

”Yes, Boss, let her call you if she wants, it won’t hurt.” Zhao Erdan chimed in upon hearing the greeting, looking up to see Ye Guichen. He quickly stood up.

Yu Jieyuan bowed to Ye Guichen and greeted, ”Boss, I’m discussing the opening with Brother Zhao. Haha, the workers you found are really efficient. They said they could finish the renovation in less than two days. When we open, should we invite people from Haotian Model Company to make it grand?”

Hearing this, Ye Guichen couldn’t help but roll his eyes, ”Are you planning to have those models come and wear very little, showing off their bodies? Do you want people to eat or to watch?”

”Ahem, Boss, I was trying to create a buzz and attract people.” Yu Jieyuan felt embarrassed by the reprimand from Ye Guichen.

Initially, he didn’t believe this Medicinal Food Restaurant could open, but after tasting Li Xiaoqin’s Seven-Colored Linglong Noodles, his confidence was boosted. So now he focused most of his energy on the restaurant.

”Alright, we’ll talk about this later. Has that Imperial Medical Restaurant across the street caused any trouble lately?” Ye Guichen glanced across the street and asked.

Li Xiaoqin quickly interjected, ”Mr. Ye, you have an excellent vision. Since you let Huang Mao and his guys watch outside, that Imperial Medical Restaurant across the street has behaved better. Ah, speaking of Huang Mao, I feel he’s quite pitiful.”

”Enough, darling, life is hard for everyone.” Zhao Erdan seemed reluctant to talk about Huang Mao, muttering.

Li Xiaoqin said, ”You don’t understand. Although Huang Mao collected protection fees and bullied us before, I recently found out he has no parents. Dropped out of school in his teens and roamed society. Besides this, what else could he do?”

Li Xiaoqin’s eyes reddened as she spoke, addressing Ye Guichen, ”Mr. Ye, when our Medicinal Food Restaurant opens, can we let them...”

”That’s easy,” Ye Guichen hadn’t realized Huang Mao was an orphan. ”Start paying Huang Mao and his guys now. Yu Jieyuan, draw from the model company, and you decide how much.”

”Really?” Li Xiaoqin was thrilled, ”Mr. Ye, you’re truly a great person. I’m thanking you on behalf of Huang Mao.”

”Sister-in-law, no need to be so formal,” Ye Guichen smiled. Before he could say more, Li Xiaoqin ran out and shouted, ”Huang Mao, Mr. Ye said you will start getting paid. Work hard, follow Mr. Ye, and you’ll make something of yourselves.”

Zhao Erdan watched Li Xiaoqin’s excitement and smiled awkwardly at Ye Guichen, ”Boss, my wife’s been obsessed with pitying Huang Mao lately, inviting them to eat every day. Haha, your money isn’t easy to come by, maybe...”

”Who says my money isn’t easy to come by?” Ye Guichen scoffed, ”You underestimate me. Anyway, let Yu Jieyuan handle this. It’s fine.”

Ye Guichen patted Zhao Erdan’s shoulder, making Zhao Erdan feel deeply moved.

Zhao Erdan opened his mouth, not knowing how to respond.

Ye Guichen’s word was incredibly powerful.

My money is easy to come by.

But Zhao Erdan understood, Ye Guichen didn’t want him feeling pressured.

People are flesh and blood.

After getting to know Huang Mao a bit, both Li Xiaoqin and Zhao Erdan felt Huang Mao and his guys weren’t inherently bad, just led astray by their childhood environment.

Li Xiaoqin initially wanted them to be servers, but Ye Guichen decided to pay them right away.

Not long after, Huang Mao brought a group over.

”Huang Mao, don’t just stand there, quickly thank Mr. Ye.” Seeing Huang Mao still in a daze, Li Xiaoqin gently pushed his back.

Huang Mao grinned and, along with his guys, bowed deeply to Ye Guichen, ”Boss Ye, from today on, our lives are yours. Your word is our command, no matter what it is.”

”Yes, Boss Ye!” The group of hooligans bowed in unison, looking at Ye Guichen with admiration.

Ye Guichen felt speechless, ”Alright, why would I want your lives? Do what you should, if you’re free, help the workers with the renovation.”

”Right, get to work. Boss Ye is paying us, let’s be proactive!” Huang Mao pushed a nearby underling, heading to the medicinal food restaurant to help.

Li Xiaoqin laughed so hard she couldn’t stop, nodding and wiping her eyes.

”Ring ring!”

Suddenly, Li Xiaoqin’s phone rang.

Answering the call, Li Xiaoqin’s smile froze instantly.

Zhao Erdan noticed her expression, ”Darling, what’s wrong?”

”Hu Zi got beaten up.”

”What?” Zhao Erdan’s veins popped out on his neck, ”What happened, where? Who dared to bully Hu Zi?”

”Old Zhao, calm down, we still don’t know the details. Hu Zi’s teacher asked us to go to the school now,” Li Xiaoqin was nervous, not knowing what to do.

Zhao Erdan grabbed a kitchen knife, ”What’re you waiting for, damn it, let’s go check.”

Ye Guichen pulled Zhao Erdan back, ”Why the knife?”

Zhao Erdan gritted his teeth, ”Boss, you don’t know, Hu Zi gets bullied every day at school. Last time his classmates beat him up, and the teacher told us to keep quiet because the bully’s family is rich. Damn it, can money allow people to beat others?”

This Hu Zi was Zhao Erdan and Li Xiaoqin’s son, named Zhao Hu, studying at Yun City Middle School.

Ye Guichen hadn’t met him before, only heard that Zhao Hu usually stayed at school.

Seeing how anxious Zhao Erdan and Li Xiaoqin were, Ye Guichen felt the situation might be complex.

”Yu Jieyuan, do you drive?” Ye Guichen turned and asked.

”Drive, yes.”

”Let’s go, take Erdan and sister-in-law together, we’ll check it out.”

Upon hearing Ye Guichen wanting to go, Zhao Erdan felt warmth in his heart, ”Boss, this is our family matter, you...”

”Enough with the nonsense, I’m free anyway.” Ye Guichen tapped Zhao Erdan on the chest, ”Let’s go.”

”Okay, Boss, I respect you.” Zhao Erdan felt deeply moved.

Meeting a boss like Ye Guichen was worth it for a lifetime.
