My Silly, Sweet Wife

It was a man, his skin as white as snow, not the kind of white associated with Westerners, but a sickly white, like a piece of paper.

He was dressed in a Zhongshan suit, appeared to be in his forties, with a black glove on his left hand, sitting on the sofa, cracking sunflower seeds while watching TV.

It felt as if he was in his own house.

Although Niu Lan had anticipated this kind of sudden appearance after witnessing the methods of Red Scorpion, she still shivered and turned around to run upstairs to call for help.

But the man’s voice rang out, ”All the bodyguards outside are dead, and the signal here has been jammed.”

Niu Lan froze, instinctively looking outside.

Ever since she was nearly killed by Red Scorpion, Niu Lan had Shang Wen Dong assign bodyguards to guard her villa day and night.

But now, the villa door was open, and those bodyguards were lying sprawled in the courtyard. There were no visible wounds on their bodies, but without exception, blood was oozing from the corners of their mouths, and they were all motionless.

Hurriedly taking out her phone, Niu Lan found in horror that her phone indeed had no signal.

”Who are you?” Niu Lan was terrified.

This person had come in silently, not even alerting the bodyguards, which was enough to prove his strength.

If he wanted to kill her, she had no chance of surviving.

”Was it you who hired Red Scorpion?” The man didn’t answer, but directly asked.

”Red Scorpion?” Niu Lan’s heart skipped a beat, thinking, they finally came for me.

”Are you from Yama Hall?” Niu Lan asked cautiously.

The man still didn’t answer. ”It seems I’m right. Now tell me, how did Red Scorpion die?”

A flicker of panic flashed in Niu Lan’s eyes, but she had rehearsed many times as Shang Wen Dong had instructed.

She quickly composed herself to look natural, ”It was Ye Guichen and Chen Ziran! I hired Red Scorpion to kill them, but he never came back. It must have been those two who killed him.”

”Oh?” The man turned his head for the first time.

Only then did Niu Lan see the man’s face.

There was a deep scar on his face running from his left eye down to the corner of his mouth. The entire left eye was gone, leaving only the right eye, making his face look extremely terrifying.

Niu Lan nearly fell over upon seeing his face.

”I’m not lying, it’s true, really,” Niu Lan hurriedly said. ”I heard that Ye Guichen is very skilled. They must have done it!”

”Oh, is that so?” The man stood up and walked in front of Niu Lan. ”If that’s the case, give me the money.”

”What?” Niu Lan was confused.

The man explained, ”Once Yama Hall takes on a task, it gets done. Since Red Scorpion didn’t complete it, I will finish it. As for the payment, naturally, it should be given to me.”

”Give it again?” Niu Lan’s face turned a little ugly.

The money given to Red Scorpion was wasted, and now giving more would be a big loss.

”Of course, you can also choose not to give,” the man smiled grimly, making his face look even more terrifying.

Niu Lan shuddered.

These people were merciless. If she didn’t give the money, this man would surely kill her.

”I’ll give, I’ll give,” Niu Lan nodded quickly. ”But I don’t have that much money right now, I need to make a call.”

”Alright, I’ll give you five minutes. Don’t be late,” the man nodded, taking out a palm-sized precision instrument from his pocket.

The instrument had a red and a blue button.

Clearly, this was the device jamming the signals.

The man pressed the blue button lightly, ”Make the call, here’s my account number.”

After pressing the button, the man took out a business card and handed it to Niu Lan.

It had a string of numbers on it.

When Niu Lan looked at her phone, she found it had signal again.

Swallowing hard, Niu Lan knew she couldn’t escape, so she quickly made a call and transferred five million yuan.

In less than five minutes, the money was in the man’s account.

As soon as he received the money, the man got a notification message.

The man smiled grimly, ”Good, pleasure doing business. Don’t worry, I’m not like that brute Red Scorpion. Within three days, you will hear about the deaths of Chen Ziran and Ye Guichen.”

With that, he turned and left without any hesitation.

It was a long while after the man left that Niu Lan felt her breathing gradually return to normal.

”So scary.”

After confirming the man had left, Niu Lan tremblingly dialed Shang Wen Dong’s number, excitedly, ”Wendong, someone from Yama Hall came again. This man is even more formidable than Red Scorpion.”

...

After some intensive overtime, Chen Group had gradually regained its footing. As the president of Chen Group, Chen Ziran finally had some time to relax.

Taking advantage of the weekend, Chen Ziran and Ye Guichen bought some nutritional supplements and went to Jixiang Noodle House.

The busier the weekend, the more bustling the street was with snacks and diners.

When the two arrived at the noodle house, it was already packed.

As soon as he saw Ye Guichen and Chen Ziran, Zhao Erdan quickly put down what he was doing. Although his leg was still not fully recovered, he ran out as fast as he could, ”Boss, Mr. Chen, why are you here? Xiao Qin and I were just thinking of visiting to thank you, but we’ve been so busy since we got back, we hadn’t found the time.”

Zhao Erdan was a bit at a loss.

The shop had been very busy these days. With the renovations of two storefronts, even nights were busy.

Ye Guichen laughed and punched Zhao Erdan’s chest lightly, ”It seems you’re more suited to being a boss, not a bodyguard.”

Zhao Erdan chuckled, ”Boss, you’ll always be my boss. If you call me, I’ll be at your side, even with this injured leg.”

As he spoke, he patted his injured leg forcefully.

”Alright, I just came to check on you. I’m glad you’re not mad at me,” Ye Guichen smiled, looking into the noodle house. ”Business looks good.”

”Boss, it’s all because of you...” Zhao Erdan was about to invite Ye Guichen inside when suddenly, there was a loud collapsing sound from the adjoining Medicinal Food Restaurant under renovation.

Someone shouted, ”Oh no, someone got crushed.”

The smile froze on Zhao Erdan’s face.

Ignoring Ye Guichen, he dashed towards the sound.

The three-story rented Medicinal Food Restaurant had a scaffolding outside, which had now collapsed, crushing someone underneath.

The person beneath the scaffolding had blood gushing from their mouth, their face was pale, and it was clear that their internal organs were severely damaged. They seemed unlikely to survive.

Zhao Erdan hadn’t expected such an accident. The surrounding workers were too scared to move, so he yelled, ”What are you standing around for? Hurry and save him!”

Everyone hurriedly tried to lift the scaffolding to rescue the person.

However, the scaffolding was too heavy, and even with several people lifting, they couldn’t move it.

”Damn it, what’s wrong with you people? Haven’t you eaten?” Zhao Erdan rushed forward to help lift the scaffolding, but the person beneath it began convulsing.

Seeing this, Zhao Erdan realized that if they didn’t get the worker to the hospital quickly, he wouldn’t survive.
