My Silly, Sweet Wife

When Ye Guichen received the call, he had just arrived at the traditional medicine wholesale market and hadn’t had a chance to get out of the car yet.

The call was from one of Li Bao’s lackeys.

”Where is he?” Ye Guichen’s first reaction was that Li Bao had been ambushed.

The voice on the other end was choked with emotion: ”He’s in the emergency room at Renmin Hospital, but it doesn’t look good.”

”Okay, I’m on my way.” Ye Guichen immediately ordered the driver to turn around and head to Renmin Hospital.

When he arrived at the hospital, a dozen or so people were standing outside the emergency room, all of them Li Bao’s subordinates.

They nodded respectfully and greeted Ye Guichen as Mr. Ye when they saw him.

These were mostly Li Bao’s trusted followers who had come up with him through many hard battles and were aware of Ye Guichen’s presence.

The tall, thin man who had called Ye Guichen was named Shi Tou.

Seeing Ye Guichen arrive, he hurried forward, ”Mr. Ye, you’re finally here.”

Ye Guichen nodded, ”What exactly happened?”

Shi Tou quickly recounted the entire sequence of events, concluding, ”We rushed over as soon as we got the call from the hospital. According to the police, the truck driver had been drinking and was DUI.”

”Where is the truck driver?”

Shi Tou shook his head, ”He died on the spot.”

”How’s Black Panther now?”

Shi Tou sighed, ”He was covered in blood when he was brought in. The doctors said they’re doing their best, but...”

Ye Guichen didn’t ask any more questions and pushed open the door, preparing to enter the emergency room.

But before he could open the door, he was pushed by two security guards standing at the entrance, ”This is the emergency room, you can’t go in!”

”Damn, this is Mr. Ye!”

”Hell, are you looking for a beating?”

”Our Brother Leopard is inside fighting for his life, get out of the way!”

Li Bao’s subordinates knew how formidable Ye Guichen was and knew that Black Panther had been following Ye Guichen’s lead recently. Seeing the security guards dare to stop Ye Guichen, they started shouting, their eyes red and looking ready to fight if the guards didn’t move.

The security guards were only blocking the entrance to prevent any mishaps, but faced with such a ferocious crowd, they were scared and protested, ”Yelling at us won’t help, they’re doing all they can inside, even if you go in, what can you do?”

Ye Guichen said expressionlessly, ”I know some medicine; I can help.”

”You?” The two security guards were skeptical, ”Buddy, don’t make this hard on us. This is a hospital, if something goes wrong, we have to take responsibility too.”

”Hell, stop blabbering and open the door!” Shi Tou yelled, swinging his fists and startling the security guards.

Ye Guichen shot Shi Tou a stern look, ”Enough, now’s not the time for arrogance. I’m here, and if you have nothing else to do, go investigate the truck driver and keep me updated.”

”But Mr. Ye, Brother Leopard is still in there...” Shi Tou hesitated to speak.

They all followed Black Panther; if something happened to him, they would be leaderless and, having offended many people before, would have a hard time surviving.

Ye Guichen said in a grave tone, ”I said, I’m here. This is a hospital, not a marketplace! Go investigate, now!”

Seeing Ye Guichen’s anger, Shi Tou and the others nodded and left.

The two security guards looked at Ye Guichen in surprise.

They did not expect such a young-looking Ye Guichen to command such respect.

Shi Tou’s people looked formidable, and with the infamous Black Panther lying inside, if something really went wrong, they feared the hospital could be trashed.

How could the two of them stop Shi Tou’s gang?

”Brother, thank you,” the two security guards said gratefully to Ye Guichen.

With Shi Tou’s group gone, their pressure lessened significantly.

Ye Guichen shook his head, signaling that it was okay.

Just then, the emergency room door opened, and a nurse called out, ”Who is Li Bao’s family?”

Ye Guichen was about to answer when a hurried voice from behind interrupted, ”Me!”

Then, a waft of perfume followed as Li Ruoxuan, sweating profusely, rushed over.

Her face was filled with anxiety, and she didn’t notice Ye Guichen. She grabbed the nurse’s hand, ”Nurse, I’m Li Ruoxuan. I’m also in the medical field and have been hired by your hospital. Li Bao is my brother. How is he?”

Seeing that she was a colleague, the nurse’s expression softened as she removed her mask, ”Dr. Li, I’m really sorry. Your brother’s injuries are too severe. Both his legs have multiple fractures and his cervical spine is seriously injured. The doctors inside are doing all they can, but...”

”Nurse, what are you saying?” Li Ruoxuan turned pale, ”Who performed the surgery?”

”It was Director Liu from our emergency center. Why?” The nurse was puzzled, wondering why this doctor was asking who performed the surgery. With such severe injuries, it likely wouldn’t have made much difference who operated.
