My Silly, Sweet Wife

Ye Guichen heard the conversation between Zhao Erdan and his wife outside the hospital room. He hesitated for a moment, ready to enter, when suddenly someone appeared behind him.

That person glanced at Ye Guichen and directly pushed open the door.

”Zhao Erdan, I’m here on behalf of the company to give you compensation,” the person said loudly after entering, walking straight to the bedside, tossing an envelope onto Zhao Erdan’s bed with an arrogant demeanor, ”Here’s two thousand yuan, consider it for your medical expenses.”

Clearly, Zhao Erdan and his wife recognized this person.

They were about to express their gratitude, but upon hearing it was only two thousand yuan, they felt awkward.

Zhao Erdan squeezed out a forced smile: ”Secretary Song, my surgery alone cost ten thousand, and with the hospitalization, two thousand yuan might not be enough. Are you sure it’s correct?”

Zhao Erdan distinctly remembered Ye Guichen saying it was a work-related injury when he was brought to the hospital, and that all expenses could be reimbursed.

Only two thousand yuan, could they really expect him to cover the rest?

Upon hearing this, Secretary Song rolled his eyes and sneered, ”Zhao Erdan, do you really think you can extort the company just because you’re injured? You’re just a lowly security guard. Giving you two thousand yuan is a generous act from Mr. Chen. If you don’t want it, I’ll take it back.”

As he spoke, he reached for the envelope, as if he was really going to take back the two thousand yuan.

Mrs. Zhao’s face turned very ugly, muttering to herself in a low voice: ”Old Zhao, do you see this? The rich don’t care about us at all. You risk your life for others, and they only offer you two thousand yuan. You consider them your brothers, what do they take you for?”

Feeling exceedingly awkward, Zhao Erdan looked up and saw Ye Guichen standing at the door. He immediately struggled to get up: ”Boss, you’re here?”

Ye Guichen’s face was so dark it looked like it might rain.

Although he didn’t know what had happened, Zhao Erdan was injured because of Chen Ziran, and he was his man. He had to pay for his own medical expenses?

Walking to the bedside, Ye Guichen pressed down on Zhao Erdan’s shoulder, preventing him from getting up, and smiled apologetically at Mrs. Zhao: ”I’m terribly sorry, ma’am.”

The woman looked at Zhao Erdan somewhat peculiarly: ”Who is he?”

”He’s my boss,” Zhao Erdan, with mouth agape, tried to explain.

Ye Guichen waved his hand and fixed his gaze on Secretary Song: ”Are you from the finance department?”

Song Siping sized up Ye Guichen twice and scoffed, ”Who are you?”

Ye Guichen picked up the envelope and shook it in front of Song Siping: ”Didn’t your finance department manager tell you that all medical expenses for Zhao Erdan during his hospitalization should be covered by the company?”

”Who are you! It’s none of your business!” Song Siping clearly didn’t recognize Ye Guichen, and seeing his questioning, he repeated, ”You’re just sticking your nose where it doesn’t belong. This is a matter for the finance department, get lost. This two thousand yuan is already a generous act from our manager. Speak one more word and you won’t get a dime.”

It seemed as if the two thousand yuan was coming from Song Siping himself.

Ye Guichen never expected a secretary from the finance department to be so arrogant.

”Who’s your manager?” Ye Guichen didn’t bother arguing with Song Siping.

Song Siping clearly didn’t want to tangle with Ye Guichen either. He snatched the envelope from Ye Guichen’s hand and muttered, ”You think you can just meet our manager? You’re just a lowly security guard with no power or influence. You don’t even know to offer a bribe for reimbursement. Hah, you think protecting Mr. Chen allows you to do as you wish? The money is in our hands. If we don’t give it, no one can take it.”

After speaking, Song Siping turned to leave.

Ye Guichen understood this: Song Siping wanted a bribe.

How corrupt had the finance department become?

”Get your manager here!” Ye Guichen’s eyes looked as though they were about to shoot flames, blocking Song Siping’s path, commanding, ”Tell your manager to be here within ten minutes, or don’t blame me for what happens next.”

Ye Guichen’s anger made Song Siping a bit scared: ”What do you think you are, threatening our manager? You…”

”Smack!” A slap was thrown: ”Stop your damn nonsense! Call now!”

Five bright red fingerprints appeared on Song Siping’s face; he hadn’t anticipated that Ye Guichen would immediately strike.

Staring in fear at Ye Guichen, Song Siping originally wanted to say something harsh, but seeing Ye Guichen’s eyes, he swallowed his words: ”Fine, you, you just wait. I’ll call the manager right now and see how she deals with you!”

Zhao Erdan and his wife were stunned.

They could clearly sense that Ye Guichen was genuinely angry, not just pretending.

Zhao Erdan, though he called Ye Guichen boss, had never seen him so furious, especially over his own issues, and couldn’t help but feel touched.

Mrs. Zhao looked at Ye Guichen in disbelief, then at Zhao Erdan, ”He, he’s really your boss?”

In her impression, wealthy people would never stand up for people at the bottom like them.

With a proud smile, Zhao Erdan nodded: ”Yes, my boss.”

At this moment, Zhao Erdan’s heart felt blissfully secure.

He knew he had chosen the right boss, even if it cost him his life, it was worth it.

Then, Zhao Erdan said to Ye Guichen: ”Boss, you don’t need to be so angry, actually I…”

Turning to him, Ye Guichen reassured: ”Zhao Erdan, listen to me clearly. You are my brother, my man. Anyone who dares to bully my people will not be tolerated!”

Ye Guichen’s words made Zhao Erdan’s mouth quiver with emotion, rendering him speechless.

Less than ten minutes later, a middle-aged woman in professional attire hurried in.

Seeing the middle-aged woman, Song Siping immediately rushed over, showing his swollen, reddened face: ”Aunt, you must see, that damned security guard had someone hit me! I’m just following your orders. Please, help me out!”

Upon hearing this, Manager Song displayed anger on her face too.

As the finance manager of Chen Group, she held substantial power, often overseeing assets worth over hundreds of millions to tens of billions.

Handling such large sums, even the most disinterested person would eventually be tempted.

By chance, a department needing funds quickly bribed her with a generous bundle.

From that point, it was like a whole new world had opened up. Manager Song discovered a new way to make money.

Though Chen Ziran had personally instructed her that Zhao Erdan’s hospital expenses should be fully covered by the company.

Manager Song hadn’t taken it seriously. After all, Zhao Erdan was just a small security guard who didn’t even understand bribes; how could she easily reimburse him?

She had sent her nephew to give Zhao Erdan a hint.

But she hadn’t expected to run into Ye Guichen.

As a mid-level manager in the company, how could Manager Song not recognize Ye Guichen?

He was Chen Ziran’s fiancé, known for his ruthless nature.

”Manager Ye, what brings you here?” As soon as she entered the room, Manager Song’s face lit up with ingratiating smiles upon seeing Ye Guichen.

Song Siping was taken aback, looking at his aunt’s fawning demeanor, dissatisfied: ”Aunt, what are you doing? You are the finance manager of Chen Group. Do you need to act like this? Look at me, I was hit by him, avenge me!”
