My Silly, Sweet Wife

The security guards shouted as they made their move on the man.

However, the man didn’t even glance at the security guards. He swung his leg out in a powerful kick.

With a series of crackling noises, the once imposing security guards were all knocked to the ground.

Moreover, two of them had broken several ribs, and there was froth at the corners of their mouths, faces contorted in pain.

”Pathetic!” The man glanced at them dismissively and strode into the office building.

”You... You’re asking for trouble!” One of the kicked guards exclaimed in horror and was about to pull out his walkie-talkie to call for backup when a person emerged from the elevator.

”Mr. Red Scorpion, my apologies.” It was Niu Lan.

When Red Scorpion arrived, Niu Lan was already informed. She hadn’t stopped the guards on purpose to see what Red Scorpion was capable of.

But she hadn’t expected the usually arrogant guards to be so utterly defeated.

Niu Lan felt reassured and quickly led Red Scorpion into the office, glaring at the guards: ”Useless! Go to the hospital yourselves. And if anyone dares to leak Mr. Red Scorpion’s visit, I’ll cut their tongue out.”

The security guards felt perplexed but didn’t dare to ask any questions.

In the office.

Niu Lan sent everyone away and personally poured tea for Red Scorpion: ”Mr. Red Scorpion, I didn’t expect you to arrive so quickly.”

After returning from Ning Chengyuan last night, Niu Lan couldn’t wait to make the call.

She had barely stated her request when the other party agreed.

Niu Lan thought it would take a few days for the other party to arrive but hadn’t expected them to come within less than a day.

Red Scorpion sat on the sofa, placing the rectangular box beside his feet. He didn’t drink the tea, ”I didn’t come here to drink tea, Boss Niu. Since you have my number, you should also know the rules of Yama Hall. We only kill, not injure. Half the payment upfront, the rest after the job is done.”

”Yes, yes, of course.” Niu Lan nodded quickly and took out a secret photo of Chen Ziran and Ye Guichen from her drawer, putting it in front of Red Scorpion: ”Mr. Red Scorpion, we’ve agreed on the price beforehand, five million for the two lives. But I’ll pay you three million first to kill Chen Ziran. As for Ye Guichen, we will kill him in some time.”

Red Scorpion glanced at the photo and casually threw it back to Niu Lan: ”Alright, expect news tonight.”

Then he stood up and turned to walk outside.

Throughout, Red Scorpion was efficient and didn’t waste any words.

After Red Scorpion left, Niu Lan’s face reddened with excitement.

She had commissioned assassins before, but she had never been this nervous.

This Red Scorpion gave her a completely different feeling, far from the usual hitmen she had encountered.

Not long after Red Scorpion left, a middle-aged man pushed the door open and walked in.

The man wore casual clothes, had a mustache, and a pipe in his mouth. He looked refined.

This man was none other than the boss of Wendong Finance and Niu Lan’s husband, Shang Wen Dong.

Seeing Niu Lan still excited, Shang Wen Dong said softly: ”So, you really want to avenge Long Zhengkun?”

Niu Lan paused, pursing her lips without hiding: ”Yes.”

”Niu Lan, although we are married, we have always operated independently. But let me warn you, Long Zhengkun’s fall shows that the Chen Group is not simple, especially that Ye Guichen. He looks like a country bumpkin, yet the Chen Group’s success has his influence behind it. You want to kill, fine, but don’t involve me.”

Shang Wen Dong’s tone was calm, but the warning was clear, and his words showed cunning.

In the past, Yun City had three major figures: Long Zhengkun of Longteng Group, Li Bao of the underworld, and Shang Wen Dong of Wendong Finance.

To others, Long Zhengkun was making waves in business, and Li Bao was notorious for his ruthlessness.

Only Shang Wen Dong was rarely truly understood by anyone.

He seemed to lack ambition, yet Yun City’s biggest enterprises were all intertwined with him in some way.

No one knew his background, as he appeared to have none. Yet strangely, no one dared to owe him money, regardless of the high interest rates.

For years, Shang Wen Dong stayed in Wendong Finance, never venturing into other industries as if uninterested in them.

But Niu Lan, married to him for over a decade, knew Shang Wen Dong was immensely ambitious.

He was waiting for a chance, a chance to soar high.

Niu Lan also knew, in terms of cruelty, Li Bao couldn’t compare to Shang Wen Dong.

To many, Shang Wen Dong’s success seemed linked to his connections with Long Zhengkun and Niu Lan, but Niu Lan understood that Shang Wen Dong’s achievements were independent of Long Zhengkun.

Regardless of Shang Wen Dong’s warning, Niu Lan snorted: ”Wen Dong, Long Zhengkun is still my cousin. Should I just watch him fall? Plus, Long Zixiang is dead, the Long Family has no successors. If I don’t avenge this, I can’t swallow it.”

”Heh, I’ve said what needed to be said.” Shang Wen Dong took a puff of his pipe, exhaling elegantly: ”I saw that man from the surveillance and investigated him. He is nicknamed Red Scorpion, an A-level wanted criminal. For years, many have tried to capture him, but no one has found him. After this matter, don’t have any further dealings with him, or don’t blame me for turning my back on you.”

Niu Lan looked at Shang Wen Dong quizzically: ”You investigated him?”

Shang Wen Dong smiled faintly: ”I’m still your husband. Your actions are tied to Wendong Finance. Though I don’t like handling trivial matters, I can’t let you act recklessly.”

Pausing, Shang Wen Dong continued: ”The Red Scorpion you’ve hired has been active in the Jiangnan area for years, never failing in his assassinations. He has killed nearly a hundred people. He is extremely greedy, someone best not entangled with unnecessarily.”

Niu Lan walked to the sofa, sat on the armrest, and placed a hand on Shang Wen Dong’s shoulder, smiling coquettishly: ”Wen Dong, when you came to Yun City, I admired your foresight in doing things. Even my cousin called you mature. But now, I see your behavior as timidity.”

Shang Wen Dong ignored Niu Lan’s mockery, glanced at him indifferently, and emphasized again: ”That Ye Guichen might be tough; don’t get played and end up paying for it.”

”Hmph, don’t worry about it!” Niu Lan stood up angrily: ”Shang Wen Dong, Wendong Finance may have your name, but forty percent of the shares belong to me. If something goes wrong, I won’t drag you down. Besides, since you’ve investigated Red Scorpion’s fearsome reputation, what’s there to worry about?”
