My Silly, Sweet Wife

”Who are you?” Standing three meters away from the person, Zhao Erdan had already seen the man’s appearance clearly.

The man held a crossbow in his hand, with a box beside him, likely for placing the crossbow and arrows.

This person was none other than Red Scorpion.

Seeing Zhao Erdan approaching, Red Scorpion grinned, his voice sinister: ”Someone paid five million for Chen Ziran’s life.”

Zhao Erming was taken aback, not expecting the man to reveal his intention right away. He immediately tensed up, his eyes fixed on the crossbow in Red Scorpion’s hand: ”What do you mean?”

”I don’t mean anything. If you want to stay alive, pay a ransom of ten million,” Red Scorpion glanced towards the car: ”By eight o’clock tonight, I want the money in my account. If the money isn’t there by then, don’t blame me for killing someone.”

”Damn, trying to double-cross me!” Zhao Erdan was furious.

He instantly understood the man’s intention. No wonder the guy only watched from afar without approaching; he wanted to warn him and get extra money from Chen Ziran.

How could Zhao Erdan let him succeed?

Without dealing with this threat today, Chen Ziran might really be in danger later. Without further thought, Zhao Erdan swung his rubber baton and lunged at Red Scorpion, intending to subdue him first.

Red Scorpion didn’t even bother with Zhao Erdan, not moving an inch, sneering dismissively: ”It’s useless, no one I intend to kill has ever escaped!”

The crossbow arrow suddenly shot out, piercing directly through Zhao Erdan’s right knee.

Zhao Erdan fell to the ground, his previous bravado vanished.

Especially seeing Red Scorpion’s cold gaze, Zhao Erdan realized the man wasn’t joking; he really would kill.

”Are you an assassin?” Zhao Erdan asked through gritted teeth, enduring the sharp pain.

Red Scorpion calmly put away the crossbow, then walked to Zhao Erdan, lifting his right hand to grab the arrow lodged in Zhao Erdan’s kneecap, giving it a harsh tug.

Rip!

”Ah!” Amid Zhao Erdan’s scream, Red Scorpion pulled out the arrow, put it back in the box, and said indifferently: ”This is just a small lesson. Don’t think a small security guard like you can stop me. Remember, ten million by eight tonight, in this account, buying your life.”

After speaking, he threw a piece of paper in front of Zhao Erdan, then turned and walked into the grove, quickly disappearing.

In the car, Chen Ziran, who was still some distance away, didn’t understand why Zhao Erdan suddenly knelt down.

But as Zhao Erdan struggled to get up, Chen Ziran clearly saw his knee drenched in blood.

”Xiao Jing, go check on Erdan!” Chen Ziran exclaimed.

The two female bodyguards didn’t get off the car, calmly saying: ”Mr. Chen, Captain Zhao told us to protect you. We can’t leave the car now.”

”But, but...” Before Chen Ziran finished, a jeep came to a sudden halt.

Ye Guichen jumped out of the car, quickly coming to the car’s side, checking the tires, then looking at Chen Ziran inside, asking with concern: ”Are you okay?”

Chen Ziran, surprised by Ye Guichen’s appearance, shook her head vigorously to indicate she was fine, then quickly pointed at Zhao Erdan: ”Captain Zhao seems to be injured.”

Ye Guichen glanced up, shouting to Black Panther, who had been driving: ”Bro, help keep an eye here. Let no one approach.”

The guy nodded urgently, realizing something had happened, grabbed a steel pipe from the car, and stood guard by the sedan.

Ye Guichen ran to Zhao Erdan, glancing at his knee, frowning, quickly tearing open his pants to see a small hole oozing blood, while Zhao Erdan looked pale and ashamed.

Without hesitation, Ye Guichen ripped a piece of cloth, bandaged Zhao Erdan’s wound, then pressed some acupressure points to stop the bleeding, and dialed for an ambulance.

”What happened?” After finishing all this, Ye Guichen asked.

Zhao Erdan handed the paper Red Scorpion had given to Ye Guichen, quickly explaining the situation: ”Boss, I failed. I wanted to subdue him but didn’t expect he was so calm. Judging by my years of experience, he might be a real assassin.”

”Someone hired a hitman for Ziran, and he even tried to double-cross?!” Ye Guichen’s face darkened, not expecting the assassin to extort money from Chen Ziran before making a move.

”Alright then, let’s see who dares to extort from my wife!” Ye Guichen helped Zhao Erdan up, scolding: ”Trying to show off, you’re lucky he didn’t take your life. Rest up for a while. When you’re back, see how I deal with you.”

”I…” Though sensing Ye Guichen’s concern, Zhao Erdan still bowed his head in shame.

After all, he wasn’t skilled enough, otherwise, he wouldn’t have been injured. Even if his leg recovered, it might still be limping.

Moreover, if they really sent a hitman, Chen Ziran might not escape.

The thought scared Zhao Erdan, breaking into a cold sweat.

If that happened, he’d let Ye Guichen down.

But at least, the hitman was greedy.

After the ambulance took Zhao Erdan, Ye Guichen asked one of the female bodyguards to look after him, while he personally accompanied Chen Ziran back to Chen Group.

”Guichen, is everything okay?” Chen Ziran, not knowing the full story, was still worried seeing Zhao Erdan injured.

Ye Guichen smiled and shook his head: ”It’s fine.”

”Then...”

”Alright, it’s fine. I’m not going anywhere today, just staying with you.” Ye Guichen tore up the note Red Scorpion had given, tossing it away.

Thinking he can extort money from Chen Ziran? Bold move.

The entire afternoon, Ye Guichen stayed in Chen Ziran’s office, watching her finish work, had dinner together, and went home together.

At home, seeing Ye Guichen acting normal, Chen Ziran was still very worried: ”Guichen, really nothing?”

”Really nothing, don’t worry.” Ye Guichen smiled, patting Chen Ziran’s head affectionately.

Chen Ziran blushed, shaking her head free from Ye Guichen’s hand, pouting: ”Tell me the truth, do you have something with Mi Lan?”

”Huh?” Chen Ziran’s sudden question left Ye Guichen at a loss.

Ye Guichen chuckled: ”Why ask suddenly?”

”Humph, a woman’s intuition.” Chen Ziran pouted cutely, ”Mi Lan seems off lately. Her phone’s always off when I call, which never happened before.”

”Oh.” Ye Guichen knew about Mi Lan’s sudden disappearance.

Seeing Ye Guichen silent, Chen Ziran sighed: ”Mi Lan’s quite stubborn, living alone here without family. She’s overly stubborn.”

Ye Guichen had never heard about Mi Lan’s background.

Curious as Chen Ziran mentioned it: ”Mi Lan isn’t from Yun City?”

Chen Ziran shook her head: ”No, she’s from Wenzhou, I don’t know much about her family, but she came here angry with her family, saying she wanted to make a name for herself.”
