Chapter 1491: Chapter 14: Joyful Combination

The ground beneath Su Xiao’s feet cracked in large spiderwebs, the long knife in his hand being gradually forced down, yet he remained unruffled.

”So it turns out once your Power hits a certain level, even you can’t... oh~”

Death Omen had just been about to mock Su Xiao a few times when the long knife in Su Xiao’s hand slanted, using the blade to block the force on the long-handled axe while his foot shot straight toward Death Omen’s lower abdomen.

With one kick, Death Omen was booted back several steps, and a flash of blade light came slashing straight at her.

With a slicing sound, fresh Blood splattered from Death Omen’s shoulder, Blue steel shadow energy burrowed into her body, and a wave of searing pain hit her.

”That hurts!!”

Death Omen shouted with a slightly exaggerated tone. That was just her personality: during battle she never shut up with lewd trash talk, whereas Su Xiao hadn’t said a word from start to finish—two complete extremes.

”Told you already, hurry up and burn through the energy in your Body.”

Sayanod, in axe Form, spoke up.

”I know, just right for using that.”

As Death Omen spoke, the long-handled axe in her hand transformed into two short Fine Swords. Each of these Fine Swords was about 60 centimeters long, with grips over 30 centimeters; the Blade was very narrow, but covered in barbs and extremely hard. This kind of Weapon wasn’t suitable for cleaving, more suited to stabbing.

”Shikai, Sayanod.”

”I don’t have that kind of Ability. Be careful, your opponent’s Sword Technique is a Tier Position above yours. If you keep clowning around, you’re dying here today.”

”You actually can’t Shikai, you’re really useless, Sayanod.”

”Quit yapping, he’s coming!”

Clang.

The Long Knife sang crisply; several strands of Death Omen’s black hair were Severed.

”Shoot him, Sayanod.”

”That I really can do.”

With a swish, one of the daggers in Death Omen’s hand suddenly extended.

Droplets of Blood drifted in the air, the barbs on the Blade grazed past Su Xiao’s cheek. Dodging that thrust, he stepped in, raising his knife for a sideways Cleave.

”Duck!”

Even without Sayanod’s reminder, Death Omen had already raised the Dual Stinger Sword to guard in front of her and ducked her head to evade.

Before the Long Knife could come down, Su Xiao suddenly vanished, reappearing behind Death Omen an instant later.

”Holy— it’s Soul Shadow! Don’t let him Cleave you again. If you’re unlucky and your Soul gets paralyzed, you’re done—dead on the spot—I won’t be able to save you.”

”Soul Shadow?”

The Dual Stinger Sword in Death Omen’s hands danced up and down, metal ringing, sparks flying. She was going all out to block Su Xiao’s Cleaves. Even though her Power and Speed had both been greatly enhanced, Death Omen was shocked to find she was still the one being completely suppressed.

”One of the hardest types of Shadow of Annihilation Law to deal with. Hurry and burn all the energy in your Body. Without energy as a medium, Soul Shadow can’t do anything to you.”

No one knew where in the Void Sayanod had come from, but it understood Shadow of Annihilation Law extremely well.

”Sayanod, got any suggestions that can just straight-up kill him? I’m about to hold out no longer.”

Right now Death Omen’s feeling was bizarre. It was like she wasn’t fighting one person at all, but a whole group surrounding her and hacking away, the Cleaves coming from utterly unpredictable angles.

Splurt!

Blood splashed; a slash mark appeared beneath Death Omen’s chin. The cut wasn’t deep, just a graze from the knife tip.

With only 5 points of Mana Value left, Death Omen realized that after taking that hit, it didn’t hurt anywhere near as crazily as before.

”It kicked in, doesn’t hurt at all.”

Death Omen brushed her fingers over the wound under her chin, even licking the Blood off her fingertips.

”Are you stupid, getting hacked and still happy about it.”

Clink!

The Double Thin Swords in Death Omen’s hands crossed, and when the Long Knife chopped down, the Double Thin Swords formed a scissor shape, intending to clamp Dragon Slash.

Su Xiao hunched and raised his right leg. Sensing Su Xiao’s movement, Death Omen tensed her abdominal muscles. Even taking a Kick straight had technique—like bracing your abs before the hit to protect your organs.

The expected Kick straight never came. What met Death Omen instead was a gun barrel—D·Assassin appeared in Su Xiao’s hand and he fired two shots straight at Death Omen’s head.

Sayanod, in Double Thin Swords Form, immediately transformed into a shield that blocked in front of Death Omen.

Dang, dang.

Sparks flew as the shield was dented twice by the bullets, but without any significant damage. Su Xiao lined up a straight Kick at the shield.

Bang!

Death Omen’s hands sank under the impact, her body staggering backward several steps beyond her Control. That nearly drove her mad. She clearly had more Strength than Su Xiao, yet every single time she was the one getting knocked back.

”I can’t stand this humiliation. Think of something, Sayanod.”

”The fact you’re not dead already proves my decisions are correct.”

”But I’ve been getting my face beaten in nonstop, it’s really suffocating.”

Death Omen’s tone held some helplessness. Sure enough, after trading a few rounds with Su Xiao, she was already feeling helpless.

”How about... we bail first?”

”Don’t even think about it. If you want me to run, I’d at least have to get hacked half to death first.”

Death Omen grinned, very frank. Sayanod fell silent; it didn’t want to talk to an idiot.

”Knife-guy, are you mute? Fighting is such a fun thing, you really don’t want to say anything?”

Death Omen threw Su Xiao a flirtatious look, but her Charm was basically zero.

Su Xiao completely ignored whatever Death Omen was saying, or rather, he understood exactly what she was trying to do—use trash talk to mess with his focus.

Su Xiao was currently savoring the strange sensation of Sword Grandmaster. If it had been before he mastered Sword Grandmaster, handling Death Omen would never have been this relaxed.

Precisely because of how strong Sword Grandmaster was, at the Early Stage in the Derivative World, Su Xiao had been Teleport-ed straight into Soul Society and forbidden from entering the living world. Ordinary Fourth-tier Contractors fighting him didn’t even have a chance to go all-in; they’d be Slaughtered in a few swings.

Su Xiao made a phantom slash, and he could even feel the resistance of the air against his Cleave—an indescribably strange sensation.

Click, click...

The clock above was slowly counting down. Based on Su Xiao’s judgment, this Barrier would dissipate in about ten minutes.

”Sayanod, Combination Skill.”

”Are you insane?”

”Shut up and take as much Blood as you want.”

Death Omen’s pupils turned an even brighter crimson, her Aura growing stronger and stronger.

Red Mist spread outward with Su Xiao as the center. After being touched by this red Mist, Death Omen felt a faint burning pain on her skin.

”Life or death, it all rides on this.”

Death Omen raised her dual Swords; the twin Swords rapidly transformed, wrapping around her forearms and finally forming two Arm Blades.

”Slash.”

Death Omen let out a low growl and vanished from where she stood with a swish, rushing straight at Su Xiao.

A red afterimage streaked by; Su Xiao braced Dragon Slash at his side, right hand gripping the hilt tight, left hand pressing against the spine of the Blade.

With a thunderous boom, an irresistible force surged in from Dragon Slash. Su Xiao was blasted backward, sent flying.

Death Omen’s figure reappeared, Sayanod returning to its initial Form, becoming a pair of black gloves again, while Death Omen dropped to one knee, a slash wound running through her chest and abdomen.

”It should... have worked, right.”

”Yeah, I cut him.”

Blood dripped from the black gloves. Seeing that Blood, a smile appeared on Death Omen’s face.

Not far away, Su Xiao stood up from the ruined remains of a building, Blood pouring from his shoulder. He took out a bottle of Ancient Secret Medicine, popped the cork with his thumb, and poured a small amount of Potion over the wound.

Sss—

White smoke rose as the wound on Su Xiao’s shoulder healed at a rate visible to the naked eye.

”Sayanod, do we have that kind of Potion? Give me a bottle—no, two bottles. I’m pretty badly hurt.”

Death Omen grinned in pain from the knife wound in her chest. Clearly, she didn’t have a Potion that could rapidly regenerate wounds; that sort of thing had to be tailored to different Constitutions. She did, however, have a pile of Potions for restoring Life Value.

”...”

Sayanod said nothing, its attitude basically: ’Don’t you have any sense of your own situation?’

”That should be about enough...”

Death Omen stood up, expression solemn. Seeing her look, Su Xiao instinctively felt she still had some trump-card move left.
