Chapter 1486: Chapter 9: Death Omen

The spacious room holds a bald elder seated inside, his long white beard tied up and his grizzled brows almost drooping to his chin, hinting at his age. Despite this, he feels like a volcano on the verge of eruption—solemn, steady, and unfathomable.

A wooden cane, thick at the top and thin at the bottom, leans against the elder’s shoulder. Inside the cane is the strongest flame soul cutting blade: Flowing Blade Like Fire.

Yamamoto Genryuusai’s eyes open slightly. Su Xiao sits across from him, appearing as if he hasn’t woken up, or perhaps, when Su Xiao ’awakens,’ it will be his moment of fruition.

”You are impressive.”

Old man Genryusai Shigekuni Yamamoto speaks, perhaps praising Su Xiao’s potion or his disguise ability.

”Thank you for the compliment.”

Bang!

Just as Su Xiao’s words fall, Yamamoto Genryuusai presses his wooden cane against the ground, causing fine cracks to appear on the wooden floor.

Silence, a deathly silent pause. After a long time, Yamamoto Genryuusai waves his hand.

”The neighboring room will belong to you from now on.”

”...”

Su Xiao truly didn’t expect Yamamoto Genryuusai to have this tactic, unexpectedly arranging his laboratory at the First Squad’s base. Maybe the old man already saw something amiss.

Su Xiao doesn’t care about this point. Before the protagonist Ichigo Kurosaki breaks into the Soul Society, he won’t take any action. For now, he only needs an identity that allows him to roam freely within Jingling Court. Clearly, he now possesses such an identity.

[Notice: Hunter has formally joined the Fourth Division, Position: None.]

[Jingling Court’s reputation system has been activated; Hunter can use Jingling Court reputation to exchange items at the Sixth Division.]

The efficiency of the Soul Reapers is quite good. Su Xiao’s laboratory was quickly relocated to the First Squad’s base. Within the wooden building of the base, Su Xiao has a private area of over 200 square meters where even Captain-level Shinigami cannot enter without approval.

Various experimental equipment is placed in the corners. Su Xiao is sleeping soundly on the bed, while the neighboring room houses old man Genryusai Shigekuni Yamamoto, who is baffled by Su Xiao’s even snoring.

Su Xiao just woke up at dawn, experiencing unprecedented ease in the Derivative World. Of course, this peace won’t last long.

After freshening up, Su Xiao begins creating Soul Elixir. After producing over 40 bottles, he stops. These are enough, and as for the materials sent, if anyone understands alchemical potion study, they would find that only a dozen materials are needed to make Soul Elixir. Yet, Su Xiao listed dozens on the material sheet.

The remaining materials are used for studying Alchemy Bomb, which Ukitake Retsu has actually noticed. But she hasn’t exposed it; some things only need to be known implicitly, making Ukitake Retsu more at ease.

With Su Xiao’s current strength, Special Level Alchemy Bomb has somewhat insufficient power as a regular explosive. He’s been developing a new model of Alchemy Bomb, but the research has been hampered by the high cost of materials.

Time flies by without notice; it’s already early morning. In the largest room of the central region of the First Squad’s wooden building, several people sit inside.

Yamamoto Genryuusai, Ukitake Retsu, Hiyori, Kuchiki Bai Zai, Sosuke Aizen, Soi Fon, and six other captains are discussing an issue—namely, the recently revealed Soul Elixir. This elixir that can enhance spiritual pressure holds significant meaning. Moreover, with this beginning, no one can be sure if Su Xiao can develop stronger potions.

”His origin is unknown; I suggest strictly controlling him.”

The Second Division Captain Soi Fon speaks, a menacing girl exuding murderous intent.

”Agreed.”

Hiyori has seen Su Xiao and persistently feels something is off about him.

”This seems imprudent; after all, he’s voluntarily pledged allegiance to Jingling Court. Doing this inevitably...”

Sister Hua speaks a fair comment.

”...”

Kuchiki Bai Zai remains silent, while Sosuke Aizen acts as the good-natured man, offering no constructive suggestions. As for the captains who haven’t come, they’re even less reliable.

”That’s your suggestion...”

Old man Genryusai Shigekuni Yamamoto is about to continue when he suddenly tightens his grip on the wooden cane.

Boom!

A blast sound echoes from a nearby room. Ukitake Retsu’s mouth twitches, and the nearby Soi Fon rushes out directly.

When the six captains arrive near the explosion point, they find that although the explosion had significant momentum, its destructive power wasn’t strong, only knocking several wooden sliding doors off.

”Cough cough cough...”

A dry cough emanates from the smoke as Su Xiao walks out of it, his cheek somewhat scorched. If these Soul Reapers knew he was researching Mini Apollo at the First Squad’s base, one can only guess their facial expressions.

The captains’ faces reveal varied expressions as they look at Su Xiao, and Ukitake Retsu breaks the awkward tension.

”Researching potions... doesn’t seem likely to cause explosions.”

”Accidental physical reaction...”

”Stop. I understand, please refrain from saying things I don’t comprehend.”

This unique interaction between Su Xiao and Sister Hua evidently surprises the other captains, among whom one person watches Su Xiao with a smile; his name is Sosuke Aizen.

...

Two kilometers from the First Squad base, atop a stone building.

Crack!

The distinctive sound of bones being twisted echoes, and a Soul Reaper with a twisted neck collapses onto the ground.

”Killing them feels no different; they’re quite similar to humans.”

A black-haired girl in a leather jacket squats on the ground. Her cuffs and hem have multiple buttons and leather strips, whether decorative or functional remains unknown.

”1, 2, 3.”

The black-haired girl lightly taps the forehead of the Soul Reaper’s corpse with her finger, causing it to carbonize quickly and ultimately crumble into black ash.

Some specks of ash cling to the girl’s black glove, prompting her to frown and flick her finger.

”How did that bastard do it? If I recall correctly, that’s the First Squad’s base. Are you kidding me? How can I kill? It’s simply cheating. What happened to the ’fair showdown’?”

The girl scratches her head, making her short hair a tangled mess. This girl is Su Xiao’s target, Violator No. 10073, codenamed Death Omen.

Death Omen belongs to very dangerous violators. Most violators are constantly fleeing, while the Red Clown-type ambush the Hunter. As for Death Omen, she actively seeks out Hunters, taking them as her target, though she has no task herself.

In Death Omen’s eyes, this is a challenge where dying is not a regret. Her slender frame hides a heart eager for battle.

”The Fourth Tier Hunter, it’s my first time encountering such... Ah, it’s truly irresistible.”

Death Omen’s legs tighten, pinning her right hand as she gazes toward the First Squad’s base with honeyed blush.

”Decided, I must kill you personally, or be killed instead. Let’s settle this happily.”

After a shudder, Death Omen weakly leans against the wall.

”First, I must find a way to distract that old man Yamamoto Genryuusai.”

Death Omen slowly rises, lightly stomping the ground, disappearing instantly. Her burst of speed even rivals Bennie’s, and note she’s recently advanced to the Fourth Tier.
