Chapter 1487: Chapter 10: Clash of Cunning Old Foxes

Two days later, inside the 1st Squad Station.

Su Xiao placed eight bottles of Soul Elixir on the wooden table before him. According to the agreement with Ukitake Retsu, someone would regularly come to collect the potion and attend to Su Xiao’s daily needs.

After some negotiation, Su Xiao had basically stabilized his position at the Jingling Court. He now belonged to the Fourth Division as special personnel, lacking actual power but ordinary Soul Reapers dared not provoke him.

Or rather, Su Xiao was special personnel of the Guard Court Thirteen Teams, under the jurisdiction only of Yamamoto Genryuusai and Ukitake Retsu. Other captains had no authority to command Su Xiao to do anything.

As the sole creator and developer of Soul Elixir, Su Xiao easily secured these privileges. Although he was in the 1st Squad Station, seemingly lacking freedom, in reality, as long as he completed the daily production of potions, no one would restrict his actions.

Since entering the Jingling Court, Su Xiao had behaved in a harmless and idle manner. If Yamamoto Genryuusai were to push aggressively, it would be quite petty of the General Captain.

The old man Yamamoto Genryuusai was not such a person. Even though Su Xiao previously conducted ’explosive experiments’ at the 1st Squad Station, the old man ultimately said nothing, only using Ghost Path to set up a ’Barrier’ around Su Xiao’s house, strengthening the house’s defense.

Interestingly, when Yamamoto Genryuusai summoned the other twelve captains for important discussions, explosions could often be heard. Over time, the old man Yamamoto Genryuusai and these captains got used to it, after all, these captains were beneficiaries of the Soul Elixir. The enhancing limit for the Soul Elixir was at the Captain level, Soul Reapers above captain level only experienced restorative effects and could not permanently enhance Spiritual Pressure.

In the temporarily constructed Alchemy Lab, Su Xiao was developing a new Alchemy Bomb, and at that moment, the wooden sliding door of the room was pushed open, a small head peeked into the room.

The probing nature of the action showed that the visitor was experienced, knowing that Su Xiao’s lab could explode at any time.

”Master Bai Ye, I’ve arrived.”

The visitor’s head poked through the door seam, blinking those dark eyes, with a few strands of black hair falling along the cheeks.

”Come in, Nan Que.”

Su Xiao looked up at the visitor, a ’kind’ smile on his face.

The visitor, named Nan Que, was a female Soul Reaper, young and of mid-level strength within the Guard Court Thirteen Teams, having an energetic personality but being somewhat timid at critical moments, which was the main reason she wasn’t heavily employed.

Upon hearing Su Xiao’s words, the young girl Nan Que cracked a toothy smile, appearing youthful and vibrant.

Nan Que jogged to the wooden table and carefully packed up the potions before quickly hurrying to the door. She hid her body behind the door, only peeking her head out, a lesson she had learned.

In Nan Que’s energetic view, Su Xiao was quite a good superior, though his tone wasn’t exactly friendly, his smile was amicable, importantly he didn’t have strange intentions towards her; the only drawback was that her superior often studied explosives.

”Master Bai Ye, I’m going to prepare lunch.”

While speaking, Nan Que was already bouncing away, but soon she deflated as the old man Yamamoto Genryuusai approached.

Su Xiao was making potions for Jingling Court, nominally without compensation, but actually, he could earn Jingling Court reputation by delivering Soul Elixir.

[Hint: Hunter has gained 800 reputation points with Jingling Court.]

After Nan Que left, a notification appeared, Su Xiao glanced at it. So far, he had gained 1900 points of Jingling Court reputation.

How other Contractors gained Jingling Court reputation, Su Xiao did not know, but 1900 points was certainly no small amount.

Since entering Bleach World, Su Xiao had stayed in Jingling Court for three days. In those three days, he barely went out, either researching new models of Alchemy Bombs or crafting potions.

Checking the current Mana Value, there were 4356 points left, sufficient for emergencies, Su Xiao put down the half-made Alchemy Bomb in his hand and headed outside the room.

As Su Xiao walked out of the 1st Squad Station, the Soul Reaper guarding the entrance only glanced at Su Xiao without blocking him, not even carrying out any basic questioning.

The breeze blowing, Su Xiao walked on the nearly spotless street. Occasionally, patrolling Soul Reapers passed by, but upon seeing the pendant on Su Xiao’s clothing, none came forward to question him.

Su Xiao was heading to the Sixth Division his aim was to see what items the ’Reputation Shop’ offered, if there were any good things he would slightly increase the potion output, thus earning more Jingling Court reputation.

As Su Xiao just rounded a corner, he nearly collided face-to-face with a Soul Reaper wearing a white haori, but would such a coincidence really happen with Su Xiao’s Intuition ability?

”So it’s Captain Aizen, what a coincidence.”

The person who almost bumped into Su Xiao was Sosuke Aizen.

”Indeed, it’s rare for you to come out for some air.”

Aizen smiled politely, his ’Mr. Nice Guy’ temperament evident.

”Originally planned to go to the Sixth Division, but I just arrived at Jingling Court not long ago, I’m not familiar with here.”

”Oh?”

Upon hearing this, Aizen’s expression showed no change, only adjusting the glasses on the bridge of his nose.

”Luckily, I’m free, why don’t I guide you?”

”This... how could I be so bold.”

”It’s nothing, Bai Ye, you don’t need to be courteous.”

”In that case, I’ll trouble you.”

From an outsider’s perspective, Su Xiao and Aizen’s conversation had no issues, the impression Su Xiao gave other Soul Reapers was lazy, modest, while Aizen was a good-natured person; the two seemed like good friends.

At this moment, Aizen was not alone, accompanying him was a girl with short brown hair, looking sleek, named Hinamori Momo; she looked slightly feeble but was actually the Vice Captain of Squad 5, essentially Aizen’s assistant, strong and deeply admired Aizen.

Watching Su Xiao and Aizen, Hinamori Momo couldn’t help but smile; in her view, Su Xiao and Aizen were clearly like-minded.

Is that really the case? Removing disguise, the actual situation indeed was such. If Yamamoto Genryuusai and Hiyori merely suspected Su Xiao had issues, being in the observation phase, then Aizen surely had determined Su Xiao had issues, because their situations were similar, same kinds more easily identify their kind.

”This way.”

Aizen stepped forward, his pace unhurried.

”Hinamori, you first go to...”

Aizen’s voice grew lower, after a moment, Hinamori Momo nodded.

”Leave it to me, Captain Aizen.” 𝑓𝑟ℯℴ𝓂

”Then I’ll rely on you.”

”Yes!”

Hinamori Momo quickly walked away.

”Bai Ye, you might become a Soul Reaper in the future.”

Aizen’s lips curled as they walked side by side.

”Who knows.”

”Don’t be discouraged, with your potential, it’s quite possible.”

Pointless idle chatter began. Hearing Aizen’s words ’you might become a Soul Reaper in the future,’ Su Xiao essentially guessed the other party’s motive.

If Su Xiao guessed correctly, the ’Mr. Nice Guy’ Aizen’s following conversation would be like this: first, talking about Soul Reaper-related matters, then introducing Zanpakutō, ultimately mentioning knowledge related to Initial Release and Shikai, possibly hypnotizing Su Xiao, facilitating control afterward.

Half an hour later, when Su Xiao and Aizen arrived in front of the Sixth Division Station.

”Thanks to Captain Aizen for the guidance, it was very enlightening.”

”Only a trifling matter.”

Aizen spoke as he came closer to Su Xiao, carefully observing Su Xiao’s pupils, knowing well this was a very incongruous movement.

Yet inexplicably, Su Xiao stood still, speaking tonelessly, as if engaging in conversation with someone non-existent.

”So... that’s fine.”

Aizen turned away, his previous good-natured image gone.
