Chapter 1489: Chapter 12: Time Is Short, Let’s Move Quickly

Jingling Court outskirts, 6th Squad Station area.

The entire Jingling Court can actually be divided into several areas, with the Guard Court Thirteen Teams guarding most of them, except for special areas like the Palace of Penitence and the Central Underground Meeting Hall.

Currently, Rukia Kuchiki is imprisoned in the Palace of Penitence, awaiting the verdict of the ”Central 46 Chamber”. Her crime is granting ordinary humans the power of a Soul Reaper, which is a serious crime that could lead to either life or death.

Given the relationship between the great noble Kuchiki Byakuya and Rukia Kuchiki, unless the ”Central 46 Chamber” loses its mind, they wouldn’t sentence Rukia to the death penalty, which is a reasonable assumption. At most, she might be imprisoned for decades or centuries, which is a significant punishment for a Soul Reaper, but given their long lifespans, it actually doesn’t amount to much.

Kuchiki Byakuya is waiting for Rukia’s verdict. He seems cold but is actually someone who is warm inside. He cares a lot about his imprisoned adoptive sister and has been quietly observing in the shadows these past few days.

Su Xiao walked down the street, gazing at a towering building in the distance; that’s the Palace of Penitence. If he remembers correctly, Rukia Kuchiki would be sentenced to death because this entire ordeal was orchestrated by Aizen.

The events unfolded simply: female Soul Reaper Rukia went to the world of the living to purify the hollows, encountering an ”ordinary person” who could see her, Ichigo Kurosaki, the male protagonist. What followed was rather melodramatic—during Rukia’s battle with the hollows, an accident occurred. Helpless, she used her spiritual power to transform Ichigo Kurosaki into a Soul Reaper. Subsequently, people from the Soul Society came and Rukia was arrested.

As a morally upright protagonist, Little Brother Kurosaki certainly would come to her rescue. Currently, he is training with a mysterious shopkeeper to master his own Soul Reaper power.

Su Xiao tossed the Fate Redemption in his hand, his pace slowing more and more, and the pendant hanging at his clothes hem emitted a burning temperature.

[Warning! Warning! Violator has approached within 900 meters.]

[Warning! Violator has approached within 450 meters.]

[Warning! Violator has approached within 30 meters!]

Almost instantly, three consecutive blood-red prompts appeared, yet Su Xiao atypically remained calm. He grasped the wooden pendant hanging at his clothes hem and crushed it with a snap.

Swish...

A rapid sound of something slicing through the air hit from above.

Boom!

Debris scattered, smoke rose, and large flakes of black charcoal powdered everywhere.

”Yo, nice to meet you for the first time, I am violator number 10073.”

A pale hand stretched out from within the smoke, seemingly greeting Su Xiao.

The smoke gradually dissipated, revealing a black-haired girl wearing a leather jacket. Her black leather jacket was completely open, exposing her flat abdomen and the bandages wrapped around her chest, which were tightly stretched.

”Hmm? What’s with your reaction? Also, your aura is so strange. Are you really the Hunter?”

The girl tilted her head looking at Su Xiao. His lazy demeanor made her feel something was unusual. She’d met many Hunters before; in her impression, Hunters should be fierce and aggressive.

While the girl was sizing up Su Xiao, a terrifying spiritual pressure suddenly appeared from the distance, belonging to Yamamoto Genryuusai. To all Fourth-tier Contractors, Old man Genryusai Shigekuni Yamamoto was of monster level.

”Not good, that old man Yamamoto Genryuusai is coming, along with four captains. Are you a royal bastard? What kind of treatment is this? Shameless!”

The girl’s mouth twitched as she flexed her fingers. Her constantly changing expression and her chatterbox nature demonstrated that she was different from most violators.

”World... block.

The girl struck forward with one hand, a ”bang” sounded, and spatial ripples spread out, the surrounding scene changed dramatically, buildings became dilapidated and were carbonizing at a visible speed.

Su Xiao’s gaze swept around; he had just been preparing to activate ”Basic Spatial Imprisonment,” but now realized this was not a true spatial ability.

The surrounding world turned into black and white, gradually decaying, leaving only Su Xiao and the girl colored.

Crack, crack...

A huge clock appeared in the sky, counting down with a time of 20 minutes.

”We don’t have much time, let’s hurry up.”

The girl rubbed her hands together; her words took on a suspicious tone, as if she and Su Xiao had booked a room for some indescribable activities.

Su Xiao took off his jacket, casually throwing it aside, remaining silent from start to finish, his lazy expression vanishing.

”Hey hey, I didn’t mean that. Why are you taking off your clothes... Oh, I see!”

The girl stared passionately at Su Xiao; she finally understood why Su Xiao had such an odd aura before.

Clack, clack...

Sounds of metal gears opening and closing came from Su Xiao, who had at least a dozen metal rings shackled to his body. Of course, these metal rings weren’t used to restrain his power—he wouldn’t do something so stupid. These rings were employed to block the blood energy around Su Xiao.

Clang, an opened metal ring shackle fell to the ground, light red blood mist floated around Su Xiao, and as each metal ring shackle was undone, the blood energy around him grew denser, releasing the blood energy to conveniently use the Release of Breath Ability.

”He doesn’t seem like someone to mess with...”

The girl’s smile faded, she bent her body forward, and some abdominal muscles emerged on her previously flat stomach.

With a bang, the rocks flew horizontally from under the girl’s feet, she shot toward Su Xiao like a cannonball, this girl was the violator Death Omen.

Su Xiao unlocked the last metal ring shackle on his left shoulder and tossed it forward. Death Omen tilted her head, easily dodging the ring shackle.

Boom!

The metal ring shackle exploded, causing Death Omen to instinctively turn her head and close her eyes; she hadn’t anticipated Su Xiao placing a bomb within a close-held item.

A burning sensation spread from the left side of Death Omen’s face; before her skin could be eroded by flames, it had already become pitch black.

With a bang, Death Omen was pushed back by the explosion’s shockwave.

Dragon Slash unsheathed; just as Su Xiao was about to charge at Death Omen with his blade, he suddenly halted and cleaved through the air with the long knife before him.

Ding, ding, ding...

The glint of a blade flashed, sparks flying, several black long arrows had been slashed away. Taking a closer look at Death Omen, this girl was now holding a black longbow, entirely crafted like obsidian.

Death Omen pulled back the bowstring with one hand, rapidly generating a new black arrow.

”Assimilation.”

With a thud, Death Omen released her fingers, the black-glowing arrow shot forth, the bowstring vibrated intensely, while the black arrow raced directly toward Su Xiao’s head.

Su Xiao’s pupils slightly contracted, just as he was about to cleave, he abruptly halted; after entering his intuition range, the arrow gave him a very peculiar feeling.

Cannot use the blade to directly strike!

Almost instinctively, a layer of light blue crystal formed around Dragon Slash.

This faint blue crystalline layer was a transformation of the Blue Steel Shadow’s sub-ability ”Proud Song.” Proud Song has two defending forms: the Energy Shield and the Crystal Layer. The Energy Shield is an inherent ability of Proud Song, while the Crystal Layer was later developed by Su Xiao. It is functionally similar to the Energy Shield—the more Blue Steel Shadow energy consumed, the stronger the Crystal Layer. Generally, the Crystal Layer is used for close-range defense, wrapping around the body.

The preceding Crystal Layer wasn’t particularly strong, but as the Blue Steel Shadow ability gradually grew stronger, the Crystal Layer also became exceedingly durable.

Clang!

The long blade struck the black arrow, the Crystal Layer on Dragon Slash rapidly carbonized, ultimately crumbling into black dust. This was why Su Xiao didn’t use Dragon Slash to directly cleave the ”Black Arrow”, this thing carried some erosive effect.

”A smart guy.”

Death Omen grinned broadly, she charged directly at Su Xiao, holding the longbow in hand. After she darted a few steps forward, the longbow quickly transformed into a brightly shining long spear.
