Chapter 1490: Chapter 13: Sayanod

The black long spear in Death Omen’s hand spun, as she swung it to create dazzling spear techniques. From her stance, it was clear she was skilled with this weapon, and it was not just for show.

A shadow flashed by, the air exploded with a bang, and the air waves split apart. The spear-wielding Death Omen had already appeared in front of Su Xiao.

”Tornado.”

The black long spear stabbed straight towards Su Xiao’s face, and a stream of air surged at the sharp tip, enhancing the penetration power while affecting Su Xiao’s dodging movements.

A faint prickling sensation emerged at the center of Su Xiao’s brow as he flipped his long knife from a regular grip to a reverse grip.

Zzzt~

Sparks flew as the black long spear scraped along the edge of Dragon Slash, causing the spear-wielder Death Omen to stumble, nearly tripping over herself.

Su Xiao bent down and side-kicked, simultaneously applying force with his hands, as Dragon Slash sliced from beneath the black long spear to its top, followed by a piercing cutting sound.

The spear tip effortlessly pierced into the ground, causing a large section to explode due to the airflow on its tip.

Bam!

A dull pain erupted in Death Omen’s abdomen as Su Xiao kicked her there, causing her body to arch while she spat out a mouthful of acidic fluid and flew backward.

With a rumbling crash, dust rose as Death Omen crashed into a gradually disintegrating building.

Standing up from the building debris, Death Omen was obviously dazed, puzzled about how Su Xiao had done it. In terms of speed, she was superior to Su Xiao, and she was slightly stronger in terms of strength, yet even so, she had been kicked away after just one encounter.

Clutching her aching abdomen, Death Omen quickly realized why this happened – a difference in skill.

Su Xiao flipped Dragon Slash in his hand, switching back to a regular grip. As the long knife sliced through the air, a faint blue blade aura cut forth.

Clang!

The blade aura surged towards Death Omen, arcs of electricity visible on the aura. This was blue steel shadow energy, which, upon reaching the Sword Grandmaster level, the blade aura ascended to an energy entity, meaning the blue steel shadow energy could now attach itself to the blade aura.

Death Omen leaned to the side, and the blade aura narrowly missed her, but in the next moment, a long knife slashed towards her neck.

Death Omen’s pupils rapidly contracted as the black long spear in her hand instantly transformed into a pair of black gloves, wrapping around her hands.

Ding!

The long knife struck down onto Death Omen’s palm as she shielded her neck with her hand.

The powerful force of the slash acted on Death Omen, causing the soil and stones around her feet to explode.

Just as she blocked one strike from Su Xiao, his side kick came again. This time, Death Omen was prepared, blocking with her forearm in front of her abdomen.

Though seemingly delicate, Death Omen’s body hid monstrous strength.

”The same move, a saint fighter will not...”

Death Omen’s words were cut off as Su Xiao suddenly disappeared. Almost instinctively, a yellow energy shield surged behind Death Omen.

Crack!

Dragon Slash penetrated the energy shield, its tip touching Death Omen’s back.

Opportunity!

Death Omen had rich combat experience. Now that her opponent’s blade was stopped, it was the best moment to counterattack.

With a sound like shattering glass, the energy shield behind Death Omen shattered to pieces.

Bam!

Death Omen staggered uncontrollably forward a few steps, excruciating pain surged from her nape, as if her spine was about to snap. She grimaced, covering her nape, and glanced sideways at Su Xiao.

Su Xiao was gripping the long knife in reverse, and the recent strike was his hilt smashing the energy shield before landing on Death Omen’s nape. Compared to cleaves, blunt attacks were more straightforward for breaking shields.

”That hurts!”

Death Omen stomped a foot in frustration. Fighting Su Xiao, she felt the power in her body had nowhere to go. She always won the strength battles, yet she was the one always getting hammered.

This was the power of the Sword Grandmaster. Death Omen possessed excellent comprehensive abilities, or rather, her body’s overall capabilities surpassed Su Xiao’s. But in terms of skills, if Su Xiao were still a Sword Technique Master at Level MAX, Death Omen would still have a fighting chance, but against a Sword Grandmaster, she could just wash up and sleep.

Death Omen wasn’t dumb; she knew this approach wasn’t working. Three rounds into combat, and she’d already taken three severe hits, despite her caution. If Su Xiao’s blade struck her, it would be more than just pain.

Death Omen now resembled Su Xiao when he was against Xerxes. The current situation arose because of their differing developmental paths.

Death Omen leaned into enhancing all her physical attributes, meaning she focused her resources on various attributes, whereas Su Xiao developed four attributes while dedicating half his resources to swordsmanship.

Their different developmental styles meant Death Omen was stronger in the early stages, but she wouldn’t be a match for Su Xiao in the mid to late stages.

However, Death Omen was a violator, and violators possessed differences compared to contractors.

Death Omen rotated her neck, confirming her spine wasn’t broken. In the center of her pupils, a red gleam emerged. Simultaneously, the pitch-black gloves on her hands changed color, turning blood-red.

In just a few seconds, Death Omen became pale, a sign of significant blood loss.

”Sayanod, stop sleeping, or your ’master’ is going to die.”

Right after Death Omen spoke, a pupil appeared on the red gloves.

”Better if you died.”

The Sayanod addressed by Death Omen, namely the red gloves, spoke up.

”If I die, you’ll die too, so stop spewing nonsense.”

”Bahaha, seems like this time’s enemy is a tough one. Alright, then we’ll face it together... Hey hey hey, what kind of creature have you provoked?”

”Huh?”

Death Omen was bewildered.

”That’s the f**king Shadow of Annihilation Law, you need to escape, fast!”

”Huh?”

”No more nonsense, just escape!”

”Bullshit, there’s no way I’m running.”

”I, ugh...”

Sayanod was at a loss for words, and given Death Omen’s personality, it gave up.

Su Xiao watched Death Omen and the black gloves with some surprise. He had already sensed that this spatial barrier wouldn’t last much longer. Dragging it out would be to his advantage, provided Death Omen didn’t unleash a big move. But from the current situation, it seemed the opponent had already triggered a big move, and one that was unlikely to be interrupted. Thus, he chose to wait and see. Once this spatial-like barrier vanished and they returned to the Soul Society, it would be akin to being on his home turf.

The fact that the black gloves recognized Su Xiao’s identity surprised him. It was clear that this object hailed from the void.

”Sayanod, first tell me what the Shadow of Annihilation Law is, this guy’s swordsmanship is too tricky.”

”It’s a long story; simply put, it was an era.”

Sayanod’s tone was somewhat wistful.

”Compared to you at your peak?”

”Heh, you seem to have some misconceptions about my full strength.”

”Oh? So you’re saying at your peak, you could beat down the Shadow of Annihilation Law.”

Death Omen looked in surprise at the blood-red gloves on her hand.

”One round...”

Sayanod’s voice grew softer.

”Sayanod, I might have underestimated you before.”

”Don’t get any ideas. After one round with the Shadow of Annihilation Law, they would stop to check if I was still alive, and if I wasn’t, they’d give another strike.”

”...”

”So I suggest we retreat. Although this is a growing phase Shadow of Annihilation Law, it’s still very difficult to deal with.”

”I refuse. We have to figure out how to handle it, or we’re both dead!”

Death Omen was resolute, stubbornly like a mule.

”I can’t do anything about you, so from now on, deplete your energy, your mana value, as fast as possible.”

”Do you want me to die?”

”Now, do as I say...”

Before Sayanod could finish, the sound of breaking wind surged forth. Upon hearing Sayanod’s words about rapidly depleting internal energy, Su Xiao had already charged towards Death Omen.

”Sayanod, bloodsucking mode.”

”Don’t blame me if you’re drained dry.”

Boom!

The long knife and the sharp axe clashed, Sayanod had transformed into a long-handled battle axe. It seemed capable of transforming into any weapon. Death Omen was peculiar; she could wield any weapon.

Upon exchanging blows, Su Xiao discovered Death Omen’s strength had greatly increased—by at least 30% more than before!
