Chapter 1480: Chapter 3: Soul Society

Compared to finding the violators and completing the main task, the first thing Su Xiao needs to do is confirm his location.

He took out dozens of pointers. Some of these pointers were trembling vertically, while others were spinning like windmills.

Seeing the reaction of the pointers, Su Xiao confirmed that he wasn’t in the Bleach World’s real world. He had already guessed this upon seeing those ancient houses before.

Secondly, Su Xiao wasn’t inside the Virtual Circle, which means he was highly likely directly teleported to the Soul Society, the realm where Soul Reapers reside.

[Notice: Time until Ichigo Kurosaki’s assault on Soul Society: 7 natural days. To protect some Fourth-tier Contractors, the Hunter cannot reach the real world within these 7 days.]

This time Su Xiao understood what was going on; it was a protection mechanism. As a reward, he was directly teleported to Soul Society.

However, one thing surprised Su Xiao: Bubu Wang and A Mu were actually in the real world. Through the Adventure group channel, Su Xiao learned that the dog and cow had already started having fun there.

With Bubu Wang’s current abilities, the Fourth-tier Contractors couldn’t do anything against it, especially with A Mu’s support.

Su Xiao’s team split into three routes: Su Xiao was in Soul Society, Bennie was exploring (stealing treasures) in Soul Society, and Bubu Wang and A Mu were in the real world.

Sitting up from the large pit inside the house, Su Xiao stepped out and found that some civilians, or rather wanderers of Soul Society, had already gathered near the house.

These people were nominally souls, but in reality, they also had physical bodies, similar to the Soul Reapers.

The Soul Reapers’ bodies are composed of Spirits, while these creatures are physical beings. Apart from the basic composition, their bodies are essentially similar to humans, just stronger.

”Who is this?”

”Not sure, but gives off a strange feeling.”

”Don’t meddle in others’ affairs; if Soul Reapers come, it’s trouble.”

These wanderers all had pallid expressions; their clothes were somewhat worn, and some even had patches sewn onto them.

While the Soul Society should be akin to paradise or an ideal world, it actually isn’t. This place inhabited by ’soul wanderers’ is essentially a large feudal society, with Soul Reapers as the rulers of this world.

The Soul Society is divided into two parts: the central Jingling Court, the residence of the Soul Reapers, and the much larger Hollows Street surrounding Jingling Court, where the number of wanderers is countless times that of the Soul Reapers.

Is the mission of Soul Reapers maintaining balance? Certainly, they don’t only maintain the balance of the real world; that’s just a hobby. What they truly aim to balance is Soul Society, which represents their ruling authority.

Soul Society needs wanderers as basic labor force. If all the Hollows formed from these wanderers were to be killed over time, Soul Society would lack basic labor.

There is a group advocating for the complete eradication of Hollows to resolve the threat of the Virtual Circle on the real world, but the Soul Reapers flatly refused.

The Soul Reapers’ stance is that Hollows are also souls, souls reincarnate, but does Bleach World truly have reincarnation?

The irony is that Soul Reapers evolved from souls also die, and their bodies become Spirits absorbed by Soul Society instead of reincarnating, as their theory suggests. According to Soul Reapers, they should reincarnate rather than completely dissipate.

Therefore, Soul Society’s wanderers will never reincarnate. Once in Soul Society, they transform into another life form to live here.

Without the concept of reincarnation, this becomes interesting. The Quincy theory wouldn’t actually threaten the real world. Even if all Hollows are exterminated, the real world would be unaffected.

However, the Quincy proposing this theory faced a massive attack from Soul Reapers, nearly leading to their extinction.

Currently, Soul Reapers are the righteous side. Of course, they are righteous because they won. As victors, they can simply rule the wanderers of Soul Society without laboring, but is this really a paradise for wanderers?

Most Soul Reapers are unaware of these matters; they are merely obeying orders from Jingling Court.

Among many Soul Reapers’ leaders, two people did not favor this ’ecological development’: one Urahara Kisuke, the other Sosuke Aizen.

Before Aizen’s defeat, he once said to Urahara Kisuke, ”Someone as talented as you, how could you submit to such things? I despise you, Urahara Kisuke.”

Su Xiao thought of Aizen’s words, and a smile unconsciously spread across his face because he found Aizen intriguing. Aizen is essentially the revolutionary force within the Soul Reapers, with two goals: reaching the peak himself and overthrowing the current ruling system of Soul Society, as this feudal mechanism will eventually have issues.

Unfortunately, in the face of Soul Society’s power, Aizen wasn’t strong enough.

More and more refugees gathered around the house, making it inappropriate to stay. Su Xiao effortlessly leaped to the top of the house and vanished with a few jumps.

Half an hour later, atop a two-story wooden building, Su Xiao gained some understanding of the Hollows area’s surroundings. These houses were mainly composed of Spirits, or rather, Spirits were one of the most crucial components of Soul Society.

Soul Society’s technology is quite backward. At least in the Hollows area, he saw no electrical existence, not even a steam engine.

These wanderers transformed from real-world souls. They were modern people in life but were unable to develop electricity upon reaching Soul Society. This is worth pondering.

Is it Soul Society’s Rule Power that prohibits electricity, or do the Soul Reapers prevent the modernization and informatization of Hollows area? After all, backwardness makes ruling easier.

Su Xiao’s goal is the central region of Soul Society, Jingling Court. No matter which faction he plans to join, he should head there first.

After traveling for a few hours, an open area appeared in front of Su Xiao. The buildings of the Hollows area abruptly stopped, and on the other side of the open area stood many tall and neat buildings, two completely different worlds compared to the Hollows area.

Su Xiao leaped from the house and judged that crossing this open area would lead to Jingling Court, the center of Soul Reaper’s authority, where Guard Court Thirteen Teams reside, responsible for protecting Soul Society.

Su Xiao was curious about how the Soul Reapers would treat him, a foreigner: imprisonment, recruiting, or immediate execution? He felt the first two were more likely.

Just as he stepped into the open area, a whistling sound came from the sky.

Boom, boom, boom...

High stone walls descended, creating a cloud of dust. When the dust settled, a row of towering stone walls appeared, blocking Su Xiao’s path. These are why the wanderers dare not approach Jingling Court; composed of Killing Stone, they can isolate Spirits and even obliterate weak Spirits.

Rumblings...

A door rose between the stone walls, and a tall figure walked out from the stone gate, with two massive axes at his waist — this was White Road Gate’s guardian, Danbō.

”Ha~”

The rough-looking Danbō yawned.

”Who is disturbing my sleep?”

Danbō’s gaze scanned around and finally fixed on Su Xiao.

”Little dwarf, you...”

Whoosh!

A blood-red aura spread from Su Xiao as its center, causing Danbō’s muscles to tense. The sleepy expression vanished, and he quickly became alert.

”Go inform the people inside and say... someone has come to ’surrender’.”
