Treasure Hunting System： The Ocean Conquerer

Chapter 541: Chapter 263 Confirming the Target_3

After all, that informant was a pirate, and this information might not be genuine; he could just be casually deceiving Jason, Alka mused.

Upon hearing this, Jason smiled mysteriously.

In his hand, Magic Power coalesced into a small, transparent diamond.

”This is an ability the Crystal Dragon acquires when it matures. As long as this crystal material enters someone else’s body, it enables short-term mind-reading. It’s extremely basic, but at times, it’s quite a useful ability.”

Seeing Jason’s smile, it was clear he was extraordinarily satisfied with this rather mediocre ability.

For the dragon, this ability might not be of much use, but for an intelligence gatherer like Jason, it was incredibly beneficial.

”So, actually, all that information was derived from mind-reading; I merely guided him to recall those things.”

Alka couldn’t help but clap his hands. ”Impressive, Jason.”

Jason smiled and petted the Crystal Dragon in his arms.

Chadite looked at Jason and asked, ”You’ve been showing off for a while, so what’s the name of that island?”

Upon hearing this, Jason slapped his forehead, realizing he hadn’t even mentioned the island’s name. He quickly said, ”Border Island.”

”So it’s that island,” Chadite nodded in understanding, then shared his knowledge of the island with everyone. ”According to what I learned during the day, that island is the farthest from the Southern Cross, and it’s also the most distant island on record. Originally, it was a deserted island used to exile criminals. Later, the exiled criminals settled there and renamed it Border Island.”

”There are basically no special local products on the island, and it’s not large. It’s said to be home to just one village.”

It indeed seemed like a very unremarkable island, Alka thought.

”Alright, since the target is confirmed, everyone prepare yourselves. We’ll set out tomorrow.”

After saying this, Alka stood up, ready to find Balazs to discuss the next day’s journey. Balazs was currently residing on his large merchant ship, which was also at the port, though further from Alka and the others.

”Wait,” Lucilia suddenly said. ”One-One told me something today, and I think it’s best to share it with all of you.”

Upon hearing this, those who were about to stand up sat back down.

”One-One mentioned that during the day, someone seemed to be deliberately observing us, observing the Sound of Dawn. However, they were well hidden and only observed for a short while. It’s uncertain who was watching, or whether their intentions were curiosity or something else.”

Hearing this, Alka frowned. After all, it was their first time on this island, so attracting attention wasn’t actually surprising. When they had first arrived, people often watched them. But it was strange that the observation had only begun today. They had been on this island for a week now, a full seven days and nights. For someone to only start noticing them now seemed a bit peculiar.Still, whoever it was had only observed for a moment.

Thinking it over, Alka said, ”Everyone should be a bit more vigilant during watches lately.” He simply instructed everyone to keep their Heart Eye active and maintain the necessary caution.

Then, everyone left separately.

「Soon, Alka arrived on the Golden Trout.」

He had been on this ship before. Looking at the people on board, their numbers had indeed reduced significantly.

”Alka? What brings you here so late?” Balazs asked, sitting at a table and looking at Alka.

”We’ve confirmed which island it is, and we’re preparing to set out tomorrow. Get ready so we can go together,” Alka said quietly.

”What! So soon?” Balazs exclaimed, standing up abruptly in surprise.

He rubbed his head, making sure his sense of time wasn’t playing tricks on him. He’d only taken Jason to gather intelligence that day, hadn’t he? And the map had also been acquired that day with his help. And now, after just one night, they had confirmed the target? Wasn’t this too fast? Were they really that capable?

He couldn’t quite understand it; after all, it wasn’t as if he hadn’t seen those maps himself. And when Jason was gathering information, Balazs had been by his side the entire time. The intelligence obtained was no different from what he already knew. Although he couldn’t understand how they did it so quickly, perhaps this was just what it meant to be professional.

He couldn’t help but look at Alka and remark, ”You all are truly impressive.”

Alka smiled without saying anything.

”Well, since it’s confirmed, which island is the target?”

”Border Island.”

”Border Island? Where’s Border Island?” Balazs looked puzzled, then glanced at the assistant following behind him. This assistant was the ship’s first mate and had met Alka and the others a few times.

Seeing his captain’s confused look, the first mate also frowned, thinking for a moment. ”Oh, I remember now! I think Border Island is what they used to call Exile Island.”

”Oh~ so it’s *that* island,” Balazs mused. ”I never expected the treasure to be hidden there.”

Alka observed their reactions and felt a bit puzzled. Even Chadite knew about the island, so why did these two seem so unfamiliar with it?

Seeing Alka’s confused expression, Balazs smiled awkwardly and said, ”That island is too far away; hardly anyone ever goes there. I’ve never even heard of any of its residents coming to Southern Cross Island. It only has a bit of fame because criminals used to be exiled there, but that was many years ago. Since the law was changed, and criminals who would have been exiled were instead sentenced to hard labor or death, no one paid attention to that island anymore. That’s why it didn’t immediately come to mind.”

After finishing, Balazs thought for a moment and then asked, ”Have you determined the time for the island’s return to the island chain yet?”

Alka nodded. The reason he had decided to set sail tomorrow was precisely because, according to their calculations, it was an opportune time for the voyage. As long as there were no unexpected events along the way, they would be able to land on Border Island when it rejoined the island chain. They wouldn’t miss it.

”Alright, then I’ll start preparing right away. Do you need us to prepare some provisions for you? After all, this ship is quite large, and this time we don’t need to be fully loaded with goods for trade.”

Alka shook his head, declining Balazs’s offer. ”You’re too kind. Our crew isn’t large, so our current supplies are more than sufficient.”

Balazs nodded and didn’t insist. Alka’s crew was indeed small, and considering the size of their ship, their supplies should be more than adequate. If their supplies ran short later, Balazs’s crew could still offer assistance.

”Alright, see you tomorrow then.”

Alka bid farewell to Balazs and returned to his own ship, where he began preparations with the others.
