Treasure Hunting System： The Ocean Conquerer

Chapter 491: Chapter 247 Withered Flower

”I really didn’t expect him to start chatting with a beast, and he actually felt quite accomplished,” Jason quipped from among the few watching Simon fight from a distance.

”If that wolf were a hopeless villain, this scene would be much more fitting,” Alka chimed in from the side.

Since Simon was indeed babbling away over there, they couldn’t hear exactly what he was saying. However, the four Sentinel machines kept their sights trained on the giant wolf, preventing its escape.

”But from this perspective, Simon seems more like the villain,” Matilda said silently.

Then Simon’s laughter echoed again. Hearing it, the others had to admit it seemed somewhat true.

”There are three more over there that seem to want to get involved. Should we handle them?” Jason suddenly asked, raising his gun and aiming at the three giant wolves still hiding in the distant jungle.

”Fire two shots to scare them off. They won’t dare approach again; their souls are filled with fear,” Julia said quietly.

”Alright, I’ll follow your lead.”

Naturally, Jason wouldn’t refuse a small request from a companion. He squeezed the trigger twice, and two bullets flew out, creating two craters in the mud where the wolves were hiding, scattering sand and stones amidst cries of fear. The three wolves fled into the jungle.

Just then, Simon walked over to them. Two droplets of water flew in, landing on his face and calf. The scars on his face and the wound on his leg instantly disappeared, rapidly healing as if nothing had ever happened. They were merely simple surface wounds, treatable in an instant.

”Thanks,” Simon smiled at Matilda.

”You’re welcome.”

Alka looked at what Simon was carrying beside him and curiously asked, ”Why did you capture it? You’re not thinking of becoming a Hunter, are you?”

”What Hunter? I just find this wolf interesting and want to study it. You’ll understand soon,” Simon said, squatting down to pat the giant wolf, which was already tightly bound beside him.

”GRRR!” The giant wolf, its head being patted, let out an angry low growl. But at that moment, its mouth and limbs were firmly bound by metal, rendering it helpless.

Simon had already set the Sentinel machines to start dismantling the materials from the other giant wolves. Surprisingly, he had even added such a functionality.

”Alright then, suit yourself, but let’s check out the ruins first.”

Saying this, everyone moved toward the nearby ruins.

Looking at the protruding part of the ruin, it was very conspicuous. It stood at least eight or nine meters high and was well-preserved, though half of it had collapsed. However, it was clear this was the top of some kind of building.

”Same old routine, everyone knows the drill. Let’s get to work.”

After he spoke, everyone started their respective tasks. First was Chadite’s survey.

”These ruins... are well-preserved. Although more than half has collapsed, they cover a large area and are very tall.” As he spoke, he marked the ground, and as the markings appeared, everyone began excavating.

”While we’re digging like this, we won’t encounter those strangers from yesterday, will we?” Chadite suddenly asked.

Alka, who was digging, looked up and waved his hand. ”Don’t worry, They’re still far from us.”

”So confident. Did you do something?” Chadite asked curiously. Alka was so confident, he must have done something to those strangers that the others weren’t aware of.

”I marked Their Dream Realm using a method I discovered recently, which lets me sense the distance between me and Them,” Alka explained. ”Previously, I used to mark Dream Bubbles or dream creatures in the Dream World so I could locate them directly the next time I entered, without having to search again. I later discovered that when the people I had marked woke from their dreams and I encountered them during the day, I could still feel the marks I had made in the Dream Realm, even when not dreaming. However, this real-world sensing was very faint unless they were relatively close, unlike in the Dream Realm where I could sense and inspect the mark’s surroundings from much greater distances. Otherwise, it was basically undetectable. After much speculation and experimentation, I found the marks allowed me to start detecting the distance of those marked within a 2-kilometer range. Although very faint, if I paid close attention, it wouldn’t go unnoticed. The closer the distance, the more obvious the sensation. And I already marked all of those strangers last night.”

After listening to Alka’s explanation, Chadite nodded, ”You really thought this through.”

The excavation proceeded methodically.

”Am I seeing things? Why are there bones here?” Jason asked, looking at the area he was digging and the things he had unearthed.

His voice attracted the others present to come over and check, including Alka.

Seeing the skeleton Jason had unearthed, Alka noticed there was no golden object beside it. So, it wasn’t this skeleton? he thought.

”Why are there bones?” Chadite pondered, squatting beside the skeleton. ”Come to think of it, despite all the ruins we’ve excavated before, we never found a single body. How strange.”

”Let’s fully unearth it first,” Alka remarked, seeing the skeleton was almost completely buried.

A few of them worked together to fully unearth the skeleton. They then took it out and began assembling it outside. They perfectly pieced together a skeleton over two meters high. The long arms and finger bones all indicated that these unknown remains indeed belonged to a Vastva person.
