Dimensional Codex System: I'm really not a cultist!

”Mr. Fang Zheng, Index is fine now!”

Ruiko rushed into Fang Zheng’s office excitedly, shouting out loud. Fang Zheng, who was talking to Mokuyama Haruo, first nodded at Ruiko, then looked back at Mokuyama Haruo.

”Then start in thirty minutes, check again afterward.”

”Okay.”

Mokuyama Haruo’s expression was quite serious, she nodded vigorously, then turned and left. Watching this scene, Saten Ruiko seemed a bit surprised. She obediently waited by the side until Mokuyama Haruo left before curiously looking at Fang Zheng.

”Mr. Fang Zheng, what were you and Miss Mokuyama talking about?”

”Oh, about those children, Mokuyama Haruo seems to have sorted out the treatment process, it’ll officially start in thirty minutes.”

”Really?”

Upon hearing this, Ruiko immediately forgot about her good news and became excited. She had heard about Mokuyama Haruo’s students and knew that Mokuyama Haruo had been busy with them. But Ruiko didn’t expect that so soon, those children would be able to wake up!

”I’ll go call Classmate Shirai and the others now!”

After receiving Saten Ruiko’s call, Misaka Mikoto and the others hurried over. Hatsuharu and Kuroko were Discipline Committee Members and had been involved in the Fantasy Manipulator incident from start to finish, so they were concerned. Although Misaka Mikoto didn’t have as much involvement as in the animation, she came to the institute frequently and naturally met those comatose children, caring about their condition.

Upon hearing that those children were finally about to wake up, they were naturally very excited.

”There’s no problem, right...”

Standing outside the glass wall, watching Fang Zheng and Mokuyama Haruo talking inside, Misaka Mikoto also felt uneasy. Although she was a Level 5 Ability User, in this regard, she couldn’t help at all and could only watch. Kuroko Shirai looked at Misaka Mikoto and gently comforted.

”It should be okay, don’t worry, Sister Dear.”

”I hope so...”

Outside, Misaka Mikoto and the others were excitedly anxious; inside, Mokuyama Haruo was equally nervous.

”How is it?”

”Hmm...”

Fang Zheng looked at his personal terminal for a moment, communicated briefly with Little Angel, and nodded.

”The simulation results are all normal, as long as there’s no accident, there should be no problem.”

”Is that so...”

Despite hearing this, Mokuyama Haruo was still a bit uneasy.

”What? Psychological shadow?”

”It’s...”

”Alright, I’ll give you some time to adjust. If you can’t manage, I can do it too.”

Fang Zheng reached out and patted Mokuyama Haruo’s shoulder, then walked out of the treatment room. He knew why Mokuyama Haruo hesitated; after all, it was she who had caused these kids to fall into a coma previously. Although she was unaware at the time, it left a deep psychological shadow. If anything goes wrong this time... Mokuyama Haruo might even contemplate suicide.

”How is it, Mr. Fang Zheng?”

Seeing Fang Zheng walk out of the treatment room, everyone hurried over, Fang Zheng shrugged his shoulders.

”Simply put, everything seems normal from the simulation results, but there’s still some hesitation — after all, psychological shadow, let her adjust for a bit.”

”I see...”

Hearing this, the girls were somewhat relieved and then turned their heads towards the other side of the glass, while Fang Zheng walked to the side, grabbing a can of coffee. At this time... Rem approached Fang Zheng’s side.

”Lord Fang Zheng.”

”What’s up, Rem? Is there something wrong?”

”Yes, I discovered someone lingering around the research institute, unclear of their purpose.”

”Oh? Let me have a look.”

Upon hearing Rem’s report, Fang Zheng squinted his eyes, then opened his personal terminal to connect to the external camera. Soon, he saw a short-haired girl in a pink dress wandering around the institute’s entrance. She looked quite cute but her behavior was rather suspicious. She walked to the entrance, cautiously peering inside before looking away, then came back to look again...

To put it simply, she looked like a thief.

”Oh, it’s her.”

Seeing the girl, Fang Zheng patted his forehead. He couldn’t recall her name, but he remembered she was also a side character in the animation, seemingly connected to one of the comatose children through telepathy... all in all, she wasn’t an outsider.

”Bring her over then.”

”Yes, Lord Fang Zheng.”

Standing outside the institute’s entrance, Eri Kami hesitated. On one hand, she could hear the voice of the friend she had been desperately searching for; if she guessed correctly, then she was here. But the Quantum Neural Research Institute’s futuristic sci-fi appearance was intimidating, making Eri Kami nervously indecisive.

”Beep———”

Just as Eri Kami turned again to the entrance, it suddenly opened, and she saw Rem standing in front of her with an expressionless face.

”Uh? Well, I, um, I’m not...”

Confronted with the unexpected situation, Eri Kami hurriedly waved her hand but couldn’t figure out what to say. However, Rem didn’t have the intention to listen to her explanation; she simply glanced at Eri Kami, then turned around.

”Follow me.”

Saying this, Rem walked away directly. Watching Rem’s departing figure, Eri Kami hesitated for a moment, then bit her lip and jogged to catch up.

When Eri Kami followed Rem to the treatment room, everyone was taken aback.

”Classmate Kami, why are you here?”

Hatsuharu stared surprisedly at Eri Kami, and seeing her reaction, Fang Zheng patted his forehead, suddenly recalling that Eri Kami had transferred to Hatsuharu’s school and was roommates with her...

”Hatsuharu, why are you here...”

However, before Eri Kami could finish speaking, her gaze was immediately drawn to the other side of the glass window.

”Kizuna!!”

Screaming, Eri Kami rushed to the glass, calling out loudly.

”Kizuna, it’s me, it’s Kinui! What’s wrong with you? Wake up! Everyone, why has everyone become like this? What exactly happened?”

”Huh...?”

Seeing this, Misaka Mikoto and her friends stared at each other in confusion, while Eri Kami turned her head to look at them.

”Classmate Misaka, Classmate Shirai, Classmate Saten, and Classmate Hatsuharu, what exactly happened?”

”This, this...”

Although Eri Kami looked timid like a squirrel, her outburst of energy left even Misaka Mikoto and Kuroko Shirai feeling at a loss. They blinked and then looked at Fang Zheng for help, clearly hoping he would assist in answering the question.

”Mr. Fang Zheng, perhaps you could...”

”Let’s have Mokuyama Haruo explain after the treatment is finished.”

Fang Zheng wasn’t going to take the blame; whoever caused the trouble should clean it up themselves. It’s none of his business, right?

However, just at that moment, there was a sudden ”beep” in Fang Zheng’s ear, followed by Rem’s voice.

”Lord Fang Zheng, there’s a Miss Hainara Kuon who wants to enter the institute. She claims to be a classmate of Misaka Mikoto and Kuroko Shirai and says she has something to discuss with Miss Misaka Mikoto...”

”Bring her in.”

Fang Zheng glanced at Misaka Mikoto, guessing that she probably wouldn’t leave until the experiment was over. Besides, it wasn’t anything that couldn’t be seen by others, so he casually issued the instruction.

But what Fang Zheng didn’t expect was that at this moment, Eri Kami suddenly shivered violently, then as if sensing something, turned her head towards the door. For an instant, Fang Zheng noticed she seemed to want to leave, but after glancing at the girl in the medical pod on the other side of the glass wall, Eri Kami appeared hesitant.

Before Eri Kami could make a decision, the sealed door ”whooshed” open, and Rem walked in with another girl.

”Classmate Hainara?”

”I deeply apologize for the disturbance.”

Hainara Kuon lowered her head politely and bowed to everyone.

”Actually, I have something I want to discuss with Classmate Misaka...”

However, before she could finish, Hainara Kuon’s expression changed as soon as she saw Eri Kami.

”...Kinui?”

”...Huh?”

Hearing Hainara Kuon call out Eri Kami’s name, Misaka Mikoto and her friends were quite surprised; after all, they had never introduced Hainara Kuon to her before!

But then something occurred that none of them expected.

”Kinui! I finally found you!!”

Hainara Kuon rushed forward, hugging Eri Kami tightly.

Seeing this, everyone, including Fang Zheng, was stunned.

”Classmate Hainara, do you know Classmate Eri?”

Misaka Mikoto stared at the scene with her mouth agape, feeling as though she were dreaming.

”Yes.”

Hainara Kuon lifted her head, appearing somewhat emotional.

”She’s one of my best friends...Kinui, I finally found you...”

”Hainara...”

Holding Hainara Kuon tightly, Eri Kami didn’t know what to say, but soon she shook her head.

”Now isn’t the time for my problems, Hainara, it’s about Kizuna...”

”Kizuna? What about Kizuna?”

Hainara Kuon turned to follow Eri Kami’s gaze, then through the glass wall, she saw the children lying in the medical pods.

At that moment, Hainara Kuon’s face changed dramatically.

”Kizuna! And everyone...what’s going on here? What exactly happened?”

”.........”

Hearing this question, everyone turned to Fang Zheng with no choice, and Fang Zheng shrugged his shoulders and spread his hands.

”I’ll say it again, have Mokuyama Haruo explain it.”

It’s not my fault, I’m not taking the blame.

However, just then...

”Report to Lord Fang Zheng...”

”Who has come this time?”

Hearing Rem’s voice again, Fang Zheng felt helpless.

”It’s Stiyl and Kanzaki Kaori.”

”It’s them.”

With those two, Fang Zheng didn’t need to be polite.

”Tell them to get to work and stop bothering me.”

”Yes.”
