Dimensional Codex System: I'm really not a cultist!

For Fang Zheng, this matter has come to an end.

After that, no one dared to come and bother Fang Zheng again. Of course, Fang Zheng really didn’t care if they did or didn’t, just as he said, he gave them a choice, and if they made a decision, they had to bear the consequences themselves.

Fang Zheng didn’t care about the Coordinating Council, Arestar, or any idiot angels or whatever; if you dare to mess with me, I’ll just kill you.

However, that doesn’t mean there won’t be any other troubles.

For example......

”Help! Mr. Fang Zheng!!”

Just as he returned home, Fang Zheng saw Mel sobbing and rushing over———only to be held down by Fang Zheng and pressed onto the couch.

”What’s up now?”

”I...I’ve been exposed!!”

Mel wore a look of dejection. Recently she had been trying to improve her relationship with her younger sister, who seemed to be slowly accepting her. This made Mel very happy. However, what she didn’t expect was that her sister was actually setting her up!

Today, Mel was invited by her sister to her house to study together. This silly girl didn’t suspect anything and went happily. After eating, taking a bath, and finishing their homework, her sister started to do Mel’s hair. While doing her hair, they chatted, and during the chat, her sister suddenly brought up a topic from before Mel’s rebirth that they talked about. As a result, Mel, this idiot, answered without thinking.

And then her sister caught her red-handed.

Before, although Mel also acted overly familiar with her sister and family, her sister still suspected that Mel had ulterior motives, trying to pretend to be the sister to get close to the sister-deprived parents. But now, this topic was a secret between the sisters, meaning no one but Mel and her sister from the past would know!

So, her sister was shocked, and Mel was scared stiff once she realized it.

She couldn’t speak to her sister anymore and hurried home.

”Oh.”

However, after hearing Mel’s explanation, Fang Zheng just responded with a casual ”Oh” and passed his coat to Rem beside him, while Rem went to the kitchen to cook after changing her clothes.

”......Just like that?”

”What else? What did you expect me to do?”

Seeing Mel, Fang Zheng rolled his eyes.

”Honestly, with your acting skills, I thought you’d be exposed within a week. Lasting a whole month is beyond my expectations.”

”Ugh......”

Hearing Fang Zheng’s response, Mel was dumbfounded. She didn’t expect Fang Zheng had so little faith in her...

”Don’t start on you, isn’t it the same for Meiyin? I think she’s almost at her limit too.”

While speaking, Fang Zheng glanced at Meiyin, who bit her lip and nodded slightly.

”Yes... Mr. Fang Zheng, I can’t hold it in anymore. I really want to confess to my mom......”

I knew it.

Hearing Meiyin’s response, Fang Zheng chuckled. If Mel’s problem was bad acting skills, then Meiyin was too emotional. Meiyin’s rebirth gave her a biting reminder of ”The son wants to nurture, but the parent is no more”......though in her case, it’s just that the parent isn’t in this world anymore......

......

Well, I guess that’s true?

”When we were sleeping together, my mom was calling my name in her dreams. I just couldn’t......”

Speaking of this, Meiyin also felt a pang of sorrow. Like Mel, she wanted to bring joy to her family, but Mel at least had a sister. Meiyin was an only child, so the blow to her parents from losing her was naturally huge. And Meiyin’s parents really treated her as their own daughter.

But for Meiyin’s parents, they knew Meiyin wasn’t really their daughter, so......there is a bit of hesitance in getting close, making it difficult for Meiyin too. So when Meiyin’s mother called her name while holding her in her sleep, she almost couldn’t resist confessing the truth to her mother.

She isn’t someone else, she’s her daughter!

Compared to Mel, Meiyin was at least a college student in her previous life and had a bit more self-control, so she barely held back her inner turmoil to consult Fang Zheng about this issue.

”If you’re asking my opinion, I don’t have much. If you want to confess, then confess. If you need to explain, explain. If they want proof or whatever, you can take them directly to that world to see.”

In principle, Fang Zheng was very cautious about crossing between this world and the Heavenly Dao Palace. However, he was much more open regarding the transfers between these worlds. After all, these worlds were initially one world, just shattered into five fragments by an explosion, so there was no concern about Chaos spreading.

”If your parents want theoretical stuff, I can explain it. But as for how to prove your identities, think of something yourselves. You’re a family, and families surely have lots of secrets or unknown things. Sort it out yourselves, just don’t come looking for me.”

”Uh......”

Faced with Fang Zheng’s casual answer, Meiyin and Mel exchanged glances, not expecting that what seemed like an insurmountable problem for them could be resolved so easily according to Fang Zheng......

In fact, isn’t it really that simple?

However, as if to verify the saying that troubles come in batch, not long after, Riko returned home and brought news to Fang Zheng.

”Armed Detective Killer?”

Fang Zheng took a bite of food and looked at Riko sitting opposite him, and she nodded.

”Yes, recently, there’s been a killer specifically targeting Armed Detectives. The instructor told us to be extra vigilant. It’s said that this Armed Detective Killer uses all sorts of tools to attack, but never shows themselves. So much so that no one knows whether they are male or female, what they look like, and almost never leaves any clues......”

”This is quite interesting.”

Fang Zheng chuckled, looking at Riko.

”So what’s your plan......?”

”Although I don’t plan to become an Armed Detective, I can’t just let that guy run amok.”

This was Riko’s persistence and pride. She was attending Armed Detective Academy, learning the skills of Armed Detectives, but she didn’t plan to become one.

She had told Fang Zheng her reasons———Riko Mine Lupin IV is a descendant of Lupin. And who was Lupin? A chivalrous thief!

Armed Detectives assist the police, which are government officers. As a descendant of the chivalrous thief Lupin, how could she be recruited by the government?

No way could she become a traitor like Song Jiang!

Absolutely impossible!

Of course, despite this, Riko’s Armed Detective Rank had reached A level. But to Riko, this was just a cover. With her true abilities, she should have joined the special Armed Detectives—those with superpowers, but she concealed her abilities, joining the regular Armed Detective studies. According to her, she was basically undercover beside the enemy.

”I want to investigate this Armed Detective Killer, find and catch him! Then see what happens next...... But, I’m feeling a bit uncertain doing it alone, so...... um, could Frenda come with me to help?”

”Oh......”

Hearing this, Fang Zheng finally understood why Riko came to consult him. Frenda was an LV4 Great Ability Holder, and ability users like her had to be extremely cautious during external activities. But at the same time, they were virtually inexorable without any external opposition. Upon leaving Academy City, those at the level of Kuroko Shirai, Frenda, and Misaka Mikoto, it was basically like Long Aotian stepping out—everyone else steers clear.

This kind of ability user needs applications and approvals to leave Academy City, and as a guardian, Fang Zheng had the authority.

Fang Zheng also knew why Riko chose Frenda. Although Frenda was a Space Power User, she was also skilled at making firearms and explosives. And according to Riko, the Armed Detective Killer often used firearms and explosives to attack the detectives, and Riko wasn’t an expert in that area, but Frenda was.

After all, she’s someone who’d even use a bomb to open a can of sardines.

Clearly, these explosive maniacs from the explosive world are not easy to handle.

Fortunately, Lina Inverse and Megumin don’t have such abilities.

If they were to use Dragon Break Slash and Burst Magic to open cans......

The world might have been destroyed a long time ago.

”No problem, you can go talk to Frenda. If she agrees, that’s fine.”

Ultimately, Fang Zheng gave his opinion.
