Twin Treasures: The CEO Wife's 99-Day of Revelations

Chapter 386: Chapter 386: This Isn’t Surveillance

”Are you taking a bodyguard?” Mia Lane shook her head, ”Isn’t that a bit too much?”

”It’s not really a bodyguard, just having someone around makes things a lot easier,” he said, ”A lot of things you won’t need to do yourself, it’s like... hiring an assistant?”

”There’s really no need.” Mia was someone who helped with poverty alleviation in the village; she could do all sorts of work and was physically strong. Doing a voice-over only required her to talk, nothing else.

At this moment, Kristina Kingston lifted her gaze and spoke, ”Why not let Mary accompany you?”

The couple looked up at her together.

There was a brief silence in the living room.

Actually, Kristina had no other intentions; she spoke out of goodwill, saying it instinctively.

But it could easily lead to misunderstandings, and she quickly realized it, ”I didn’t mean to monitor; it’s just that Mary is detail-oriented.”

”...” Silence.

Kristina didn’t even know why she needed to explain, suddenly feeling a bit restless.

Meanwhile, Justin Kingston was still pondering.

But Mia smiled and said, ”Sure.” Through their interactions, she thought Mary was quite a nice girl.

Justin had regained his memory and also had a good impression of Mary. She had once matched them up and told him many things.

So, although Mary was someone working for his mother, she liked Mia and wouldn’t target her.

”Alright.” Justin said to the girl beside him, ”Let Mary accompany you as your assistant.”

”Okay.”

After breakfast, Kristina asked Mia, ”When are you leaving?”

This was probably her first time speaking to Mia in such a calm tone.

Mia was happy and replied with a smile, ”Around 9:30.”

Kristina glanced at the clock on the wall, ”Then there’s still time. I’ll have Mary come over now.” Saying this, she picked up her phone and dialed a number in Clearwater Bay.

It was Mary who answered.

”Madam,” Mary asked cheerfully, ”Are you coming back for breakfast? Why did you stay there overnight?”

”I’ve already had breakfast,” Kristina replied indifferently, ”Starting today, you’ll stay at Emerald Cove, accompany Mia.”

”...” Mary was taken aback, accompany her??

”Pack your things now and try to get there before 8:30.”

”Oh, okay.” Mary was perplexed about why she had to accompany her. Was Mia lonely?

Although Mary didn’t know what had happened, it didn’t seem to be a bad thing.

Madam’s mood also didn’t sound too bad.

After hanging up, Kristina looked at the couple, ”I’ll head back now. You handle Barbara Sutton’s matter properly.”

”Alright.” Justin agreed once more.

Then, they also moved to the courtyard to see his mother off into the car.

As the car drove away, Mia’s lips curved up; she finally saw a trace of hope, ”How’s it going? Do you feel like your mom, the ice block of a thousand years, is finally starting to melt?”

”You’re something else.” Justin pulled her close, unable to resist placing a gentle kiss on her forehead, ”Thanks for all the effort.”

”You better get going! You have a morning meeting at the company today, remember?”

”Don’t get too close to Anton Miller.” Justin wasn’t really worried, just reminding her jealously, ”Otherwise...”

”Otherwise what?” She tilted her head, looking at him.

”Otherwise, you’ll find out when you get home!”

She laughed, pushing him into the car, ”Quick, go! With Mary watching, I promise my eyes will only be on the script!” Then she helped him close the car door.

”Bye, hubby!” Mia’s smile seemed to hold all the brightness and warmth of the world.

Justin gazed at her affectionately, his lips curving elegantly, ”Bye.”

Then the car drove away from her view.

On the way to the company, Justin took out his phone and dialed a number...

In a shabby rented room, Barbara Sutton had just finished her resume, ready to send it to some relevant companies when the phone beside her mouse suddenly rang.
