The Last Paragon in the Apocalypse

⟦Where are you, Klaus?⟧ Queenie’s voice entered Klaus’s head as he ducked and evaded a tail attack from a Dark Tail Panther.

The beast has recently entered the Tenth Tier, so seeing a mere Tier 7 human appear inside such a scary place, it decided to eat him for dinner.

Klaus smiled as he continued evading while he communicated with his woman, who was worried sick of his sudden exit.

[I am somewhere I don’t know yet, but I think it’s a forbidden zone,] He responded, making Queenie raise an eyebrow as she led the leaders of the Moon Borns into their new home.

⟦Don’t tell me you’re fighting monsters,⟧ she asked, but Klaus just grinned as he severed the body of the Dark Tail Panther that had attacked him right when he fell into the forbidden zone.

[Let’s say I will be coming for lectures on how to travel through the void before using it again. But don’t worry, I will be fine. Just save me a seat when the festivities start. I will be back by then.]

Klaus smiled on his end, and then the sword box appeared beside him, and all 100 swords shot out. He looked at the Tier 9 beast approaching, and his smile widened.

“I missed this,” he said, gesturing forward as the swords shot out of the box and attacked.

In the coming hours, satellites would pick up on his handiwork. All those who would see and watch him slaughter thousands of monsters will forever remember the name Klaus.

Meanwhile, Queenie, who had just led the newcomers into their new home, was now seated with KKKickinIt, who would be asking all the questions everyone—both the Moon Borns and humans—wanted to ask.

The sudden discovery that their finest was, in fact, connected to the Moon Borns sparked many questions.

“I don’t know where to start,” KKKickinIt said, looking at the head of the Earth Alliance.

“Well, I can start by asking: are you part of triplets?” KKKickinIt asked, and Queenie flashed a rare smile that appeared and vanished in a second.

“I am not part of a set of triplets. I am a twin, and one of the veil ladies you saw is my sister. The other is my mother. But I guess, thanks to the apocalypse, we all look the same and have aged the same.”

“I see. But then how do you explain why you are a twin with a Moon Born? I mean, you are a human. Many knew you from the start of the apocalypse, so please, explain to us why we are now finding out you are a Moon Born”

KKKickinIt asked again. These were questions everybody wanted answers to.

“I am indeed a Moon Born by birth, but I was raised on Earth. You could say Earth is my first home, and the Moon is my second home.

But if it makes you happy to know, then you must know that I only learned about my true identity less than a year ago.”

“Are you saying all these years, you never knew you were from the Moon or the existence of people on the Moon?”

“Yes,” Queenie answered and sighed.

“If it won’t be too much to ask, can you explain to us how this came to be?”

Queenie didn’t immediately answer. She cast her mind back to when her memories started resurfacing and when she got to see how her mother and sister felt, waking up to a complete stranger every day.

It was heartbreaking, and though she wasn’t showing it, those watching worldwide could tell what she was about to share must be very painful.

“I suffered from a rare disease when I was young. Of course, I only got to know about all of this recently, but when I was young, I suffered from a disease that made me forget all my blood relatives after 24 hours.

In other words, if you were to tell me you are my sister right now, after a day, I would forget and treat you as a stranger.

This also means that since all Moon Borns share the same or similar bloodlines as humans do, I only saw the faces of strangers every day when I woke up.

My mother was a stranger, my sister was a stranger, and the friends I would have made were also strangers to me. Such a life was the one I was meant to live on the Moon.

And it was so for 15 years. But I guess my family couldn’t take it anymore, so my mom brought me here.

Thankfully, while I still don’t remember my family, I started to make friends here, and strangely, I didn’t forget them.

“So I stayed on Earth, and for the better part of my life, I was a human. As such, when the apocalypse descended, and the warrior in me awakened, I didn’t hesitate to pick up the sword.”

“That is… I don’t know what to say.” Call it drama, but KKKickinIt was actually tearing up. And it wasn’t just her.

All over the world, children, teenagers, mothers, and fathers felt the same. Just thinking about waking up every day and not remembering one’s family is too much for anyone to bear.

Queenie still sometimes wakes up to people who are new to her, so how must she have felt back then?

“No need to be emotional. I am human at heart and will be human for years to come.

Also, even if I were to say I want to stop being human, I know at heart I wouldn’t be able to. For I have started building a family of my own, and because of this, I am forever for Earth,”

Queenie smiled again. These smiles are rare, so everyone is affected by them when they appear.

“Are you saying what I think you’re saying?” KKKickinIt, of course, sensed the underlying message in her words.

Queenie smiled again for the third time within three minutes.

“Yes. I have a man in my life now, and he is human,” Queenie said, and the entire world started demanding the name of such a man.

Those who began planning to chase that man down and kill him for taking the Overlord’s heart started polishing their weapons.

“Oh my. To think our very own Leader of the Earth Alliance is a romantic. This makes me wonder what some of us are still doing being single and virgins… Hehe,” KKKickinIt laughed, causing many single people to bow their heads in shame.

“But if you don’t mind me asking, can you tell us about the strange man you have picked from a pool of millions of men?”

Queenie smiled again.

“Well, I have to state that this man is a brat but also a very reliable person. He was the one who cured me and made me remember my family, and also the one who has not only done more for this Earth but is still doing a whole lot for us.

He is none other than our very own Klaus. Yes… Klaus Hanson is the man I have picked to build a family with.”

And just like that, Klaus became famous.
