Chapter 594: Chapter 595: Kill the Chicken to Warn the Monkey

Lin Chen took out his phone and called Qima, ”Lu Dong must have climbed aboard a train to escape. Come here with the fastest car right away.”

”Okay, I’ll come right now,” Qima said, hanging up the phone hastily.

A few minutes later, hearing the roar of the engine, Lin Chen couldn’t help but be taken aback, as Ma Qi had actually brought a Maserati sports car.

”Is this fast enough?” Qima asked with a smile.

Lin Chen kept nodding his head, ”Of course it’s fast enough, I’ll drive.”

With that, Lin Chen and Qima switched places.

It had to be said, the Maserati sports car was exhilarating to drive, with the speed instantly shooting up to over a hundred miles per hour once he pressed the gas pedal.

On the highways of T Nation, a red lightning bolt continually weaved through the traffic.

In the car, Qima was almost scared out of her wits as Lin Chen drove incredibly fast.

Although the roads in T Nation weren’t as jammed as those in Hua Xia, there was still no small number of cars, yet Lin Chen’s speed never dropped below a hundred miles an hour.

Although Qima often raced cars, sitting in Lin Chen’s car was still thrilling enough to make her heart nearly leap out of her chest.

Following the railway, Lin Chen had caught up to the train that had just passed by Lu Dong’s house in only half an hour.

Lin Chen said to Qima sitting beside him, ”You drive the car next.”

Qima nodded, and as Lin Chen slowed down, they swapped seats.

The Maserati accelerated quickly, almost in the blink of an eye, the car was running parallel to the train.

”Try to maintain a steady speed with the train, I’ll jump onto it and catch Lu Dong,” Lin Chen told Qima.

”What? Lin Chen, are you kidding? This is too dangerous. Can’t we just arrest him when the train stops?” Qima said worriedly.

”No, there will be too many people at the station and it would be too easy for him to slip away,” Lin Chen shook his head and was already standing up.

”Speed up a bit more, right, that speed,” Lin Chen took a deep breath, exerted force through his feet, and leaped from the car, grabbing onto the railing of the last carriage of the train.

At that moment, Qima’s heart felt like it was in her throat. Seeing Lin Chen climb aboard the train, she finally let out the breath she was holding.

Lin Chen climbed onto the train and knocked on the window.

The train conductor inside, seeing a person suddenly appear outside, was dumbstruck and hurriedly opened the door, ”How did you get in here?”

Lin Chen pointed to the Maserati beside the train, ”I just jumped off that car.”

”What did you say?” The conductor was flabbergasted upon hearing Lin Chen’s words.

Lin Chen smiled and showed his badge, ”Police business, please cooperate.”

The conductor nodded, ”Alright, do you need me to call the train police?”

Lin Chen shook his head, ”Just keep quiet about it.”

At this point, Lin Chen was in the last carriage, and the image of Lu Dong was firmly etched in his mind. He moved forward from one carriage to the next, searching for Lu Dong as he went.

When Lin Chen reached the eighth carriage, he finally found his target.

Lin Chen halted in his tracks as Lu Dong, who had been closing his eyes to rest, suddenly opened them at that very moment.

”Damn, how can this guy’s reaction be so sharp?” As their eyes met, a look of surprise crossed Lu Dong’s face, followed by a cold smirk.

Lin Chen had planned to catch Lu Dong off guard, but now that Lu Dong had detected him prematurely, things were about to get complicated.

True to Lin Chen’s expectations, Lu Dong suddenly stood up, grabbed a girl next to him, and placed a dagger against her throat.

Lin Chen’s gaze was firmly fixed on Lu Dong. This guy was a former special forces soldier and was incredibly difficult to deal with. It seemed he knew that Lin Chen’s flying needles were also formidable, so he kept using the girl as a shield, dodging and weaving, making it impossible for Lin Chen to strike.

At this moment, the train car was in total chaos, with some female passengers screaming in fright.

Lu Dong’s gaze was firm and steady as he looked at Lin Chen, without a hint of panic. This was the result of years of special forces training, which had given him a heart as solid as a rock.

Even in the face of danger, he remained unusually calm. He looked at Lin Chen and smiled, ”Lin Chen, I didn’t expect you to guess I’d be on this train. There aren’t many people I admire, Lu Dong, but I have to say you’re one of them.”

Lin Chen snorted coldly and addressed Lu Dong, ”Lu Dong, release the hostage. You were once a member of our Huaxia Special Forces. Although I don’t know why you came to Country T, as a soldier, have you forgotten your duties? To protect our country and its people at all times. If you’re a man, release that girl and fight me one-on-one.”

Lu Dong burst into laughter, ”Lin Chen, don’t bother trying to provoke me with reverse psychology. I’m not falling for it. If you don’t want this girl to die, then hurry up and have the train stop to let me get off.”

Lin Chen’s eyes then fell on the girl, who was now pale with terror, trembling all over, with the blade of the dagger already pressing into her flesh, causing trickles of blood to flow from her neck.

Seeing Lu Dong’s knife handling, Lin Chen inwardly cursed.

The kid was too cunning; his knife was only millimeters away from the major arteries. If the police were to use a sniper rifle, or if Lin Chen used his flying needles, even if Lu Dong was taken down, it would also inadvertently slash the girl’s throat.

Looking into Lu Dong’s calm and unfathomable eyes, Lin Chen felt a headache coming on. This guy was specially trained, making his spirit and willpower very difficult to break through.

Lin Chen said with a smile, ”Lu Dong, let the girl go, and I’ll be your hostage, how about that?”

Upon hearing Lin Chen’s offer, Lu Dong suddenly laughed, ”You’re far stronger than I am. Having you as a hostage would be like seeking death. Tell the driver to stop on the bridge ahead, or I’ll kill this girl.”

Lu Dong was shrewd. The cave in front was followed by a big river. Once he dove into it, it would be hard for both Lin Chen and the police of Country T to catch him.

Just then, a policeman suddenly appeared behind Lu Dong, wielding a baton, attempting to smash it down on Lu Dong’s head.

Lin Chen frowned, predicting that the police officer was about to face an unfortunate fate.

After all, Lu Dong came from the Black Hawk Special Forces and had exceptionally keen perception—ambushing him was simply impossible.

But now it was too late for Lin Chen to stop the policeman.

A murderous intent flashed in Lu Dong’s eyes as his wrist flicked back, the knife slicing across the officer’s neck then returning to the hostage’s throat.

All of this happened in the blink of an eye; many people didn’t even realize Lu Dong’s knife had ever left the hostage’s throat.

The officer felt a warmth on his neck, then gushing blood. He collapsed to the floor, motionless.

Looking at the fallen officer, Lin Chen’s eyes blazed with fury, ”Lu Dong, you’re also a policeman, yet you handle your own comrades with such brutality. Have you forgotten you’re a police officer too?”

”A policeman? To catch drug traffickers, I had to infiltrate their ranks and ended up being forced to use drugs. Now addicted and in debt, who cares? When I reported this to my superiors, they wanted to dismiss me and send me to a rehab center. Since that moment, I was no longer a policeman,” Lu Dong said coldly.

”You bastard, you could have subdued him without killing him. Why did you have to kill him?” Lin Chen roared.

A cold smile crossed Lu Dong’s lips, ”I was merely killing the chicken to scare the monkeys.”
