Apocalyptic Reincarnation: Start with a 30-million Bonus

Pssh!

Third Uncle slashed down the last zombie blocking his path, looking up to see a ground littered with zombie corpses outside the cave entrance.

Just moments ago.

Old Qin had originally been seated on the helicopter, waiting at any moment for the captain and the others to emerge. But instead of seeing them, the helicopter’s noise attracted the zombies’ attention at the entrance, and they charged towards the helicopter.

Old Qin decisively disembarked from the helicopter, picked up his gun and started firing at the zombies.

At this moment, Third Uncle and Ant emerged from the cave entrance.

Following closely was Yang Tianlong.

Spending prolonged time in the dark cave made it difficult for them to immediately adapt to the sunlight outside.

Third Uncle squinted slightly, trying to quickly adapt to the change in brightness.

Soon enough.

Li Yu and Jackals emerged from the cave entrance, killing zombies while retreating.

Old Qin quickly rushed forward to assist, firing his gun at the zombies near the entrance.

Jackals shouted to Third Uncle, ”Captain, can we use hand grenades now?”

Third Uncle and Ant were walking towards the helicopter, and upon hearing this, Third Uncle shouted back, ”As you wish.”

After saying that, he boarded the helicopter.

The first thing Ant did after boarding the helicopter was to locate a magazine filled with bullets and began supporting Old Qin from atop the helicopter.

Upon hearing Third Uncle’s response, Jackals wasted no time and shouted to Li Yu and the others, ”Retreat, I’m throwing a hand grenade.”

With that, he bundled three hand grenades together, pulled the pin, and threw them towards the cave entrance.

Li Yu, Old Qin, and Yang Tianlong quickly took cover behind a massive rock not far from the entrance.

Then.

A loud explosion rang out.

Boom!

The sound was deafening, causing some ringing in their ears. Li Yu darted out from behind the rock to look towards the cave entrance.

One had to admit that the underground base built decades ago was still solid; three grenades exploding didn’t cause much damage to the entrance.

But the zombies that had charged to the entrance met a grim fate.

Within the explosion’s coverage, all zombies were blown apart, their limbs scattered all around.

”Go!” Li Yu shouted to Yang Tianlong and Old Qin.

Following that, he ran towards the helicopter.

On the other side, Third Uncle had already started the helicopter, ready to take off.

Once Li Yu and the others boarded the helicopter, more zombies emerged from the cave entrance in droves, charging towards them.

Li Yu frowned slightly but remained silent. Instead, he grabbed a magazine from the cabin, loaded it into his automatic rifle, and fired a sweep towards the zombie horde.

Besides him, Old Qin, Jackals, and others did the same.

Amidst a barrage of gunfire, the zombies were suppressed within ten meters of the cave entrance, unable to break through.

Buzzing——

As the helicopter slowly ascended, reaching a height of seven or eight meters above the ground, they stopped firing.

There was no need to shoot further; zombies are endless.

Moreover, this trip was originally intended to find firearms, but instead, they depleted a lot of ammunition here.

This round was a huge loss!

However, they temporarily didn’t have the mood to dwell on these thoughts.

Having just experienced such intense combat, everyone on the airplane was still in a state of excitement.

Admittedly, sometimes fighting zombies up close is incredibly exhilarating.

For people like Third Uncle who have been in combat for years, staying constantly peaceful feels unusual.

The same was true for Li Yu.

In his previous life before rebirth, every day was spent in anxiety—fighting zombies, battling the harsh environment, and dealing with hostile people.

Veterans who fought long and hard find it difficult to adapt to calm suddenly.

...

After the excitement, it’s always necessary to relieve some pressure.

Each held a cigarette, puffing clouds in the cabin.

Covered in sweat, they reeked of sweat stench.

Strong winds filled the cabin, blowing over them pleasantly, drying their sweat quickly.

Unexpectedly soothing.

Sitting across from Li Yu, Jackals and Ant occasionally exchanged glances with Li Yu, their eyes reflecting some unspoken sentiment.

Thinking back to the recent skirmish.

They knew Li Yu was strong, but didn’t anticipate his combat instincts to be this sharp.

Li Yu’s recent performance completely overturned Jackals’ and Ant’s impression of him.

Furious, ferocious, and highly skilled!

Recalling how the captain previously instructed them to protect Li Yu, they now felt an inexplicable awkwardness.

A person like him needing protection? Who protects whom, indeed!

.....

Strong winds in mid-air helped cool their fervent spirits, slowly calming their boiling blood.

Along the way, Li Yu felt a bit unsatisfied.

It was actually still early; they left the base in the morning, although exploring the location took over an hour, but now it was only a bit past 10 a.m.

However, the helicopter’s maximum endurance is only one thousand kilometers; they traveled over three hundred kilometers to Chenzhou. Although the aviation fuel was fully topped up before they left, heading further would deplete the fuel, making it wiser to return.

Thinking of this, Li Yu reluctantly decided to head back, planning to make a cautious choice upon return.

Using this as a lesson, next time when seeking a military base, they must proceed carefully and prudently to avoid making blunders like this one.
