Apocalyptic Reincarnation: Start with a 30-million Bonus

”Xiao Yu, will this be too big of a project all at once? The Third Outer City took so long to build, and if the Fourth Outer City is to achieve continuous walls, the scale is probably going to be even larger than the Third Outer City. This is not something that can be done in a day or two,” Second Uncle said with some doubt, frowning.

Li Yu naturally understood this point as well.

But he clearly knew that with the increase in cooperative personnel, the force for collecting materials outside was actually a bit too much.

Imagine, having two or three thousand people out there collecting supplies every day, how crazy that is.

After the Third Outer City was built, the residential buildings were still unoccupied. Rather than calling it the Third Outer City, it could be called a newly built planting outer city.

In the doomsday, food comes first.

However, under the threats of natural disasters and zombies, planting food is not an easy task.

People had thought about and also tried planting some crops outside the Big Camphor Tree Base, but it wasn’t as simple as they thought.

Not to mention natural disasters, just talking about zombies.

Every time a heavy rain comes, it causes zombies to move in large numbers, and they move very systematically, always gathering in places with more people.

The more populated a place is, the more zombies it attracts.

When a zombie tide breaks out, zombies swarm all over the mountains and fields, gathering outside the Big Camphor Tree Base walls, even able to form terrifying stacking scenarios.

Dense zombies trample the outside crops back and forth, and sometimes the heavy rain lasts for ten days to half a month, or even longer.

By the time the zombie tide recedes, the outside fields have become a total mess, and all the crops are trampled over.

This is just the threat of zombies, and then there are various natural disasters.

The growth cycle of crops is not short, and without a stable environment, there is no way to see them through to the harvest time.

This is also why Dongfeng and the others fled over here; they planted too much but couldn’t hold out until the crops matured, ultimately ending up with nothing.

So Li Yu keeps increasing the height of the walls and constructing various planting points. Without building safe and tall walls and having enough strength, he would absolutely not expand.

But if you say directly expanding the wall range to a massive extent.

Then you would also face a problem, when zombies come, due to the vast area and the long walls, without enough personnel and strength, how do you stop the zombies?

This is why taking too big of a step can also lead to destruction.

Only when you reach a certain level of strength and then expand, the most important purpose of expansion is to plant more crops, so as to feed more people, otherwise expansion is meaningless.

Without food for your people, it’s only a matter of time before it leads to unrest.

...

The current Big Camphor Tree Base is completely different from when it first started with only a few dozen people.

In the inner and outer cities, there are already stable and relatively loyal crowds, and through layers of screening, they can also gradually dig out suitable people from the many cooperative and base personnel to truly join the Big Camphor Tree Base.

Now, after two or three years of stable development, they have heavy weapons and even helicopters, possessing considerable strength.

They can start taking bigger steps in their development.

This is a significant change from the initial thoughts of Li Yu when he first reincarnated.

It seems that Li Yu has also become much more gentle.

You must know, at the beginning of the doomsday outbreak, Li Yu was not much different from a butcher, which was related to him just coming back from a previous life and to his resentment towards Guan Zhongjin.

The reason he acted that way was that he didn’t have enough confidence and strength, didn’t have any time and energy for selection, anything that could threaten him, he eliminated completely.

Now, with the base’s stable development, using systems and various methods to bind the base up and down, Li Yu is no longer as ruthless as before.

This is what Second Uncle and others have recently felt.

But what they don’t know is, the reason Li Yu seems less tyrannical now is simply that there are currently no threats to them.

It does not mean that Li Yu has become gentler towards outsiders.

.....

Second Uncle brought up the construction of the Fourth Outer City and five satellite cities, expressing concern about whether the project might be too large.

Li Yu heard and patiently explained with a smile, ”Indeed, this is not something that can be done overnight, and I didn’t say to start building right now.

As cooperative personnel gradually increase, there has to be something for them to do, right? If they don’t have work, they don’t get contribution value and can’t exchange for food.

These cooperative personnel have followed us for so long, and some extra staff have made significant contributions. If it’s not a too urgent moment, it’s best to keep them alive.

Although the current food production can sustain everyone at present.

But I think we should always prepare for a rainy day, make good arrangements and plans.

The future outer city population will surely increase.

Getting these cooperative personnel and extra staff to build the Fourth Outer City means that for us, we only need the smallest amount of food to have them help us create a new food production point. Why not?

On the other hand, it can also solve the current problem of surplus human resources.”

Uncle nodded after hearing what Li Yu said, and told Second Uncle:

”Xiao Yu is right; building the Fourth Outer City can solve many problems, and it will have great long-term benefits for the future. I agree.”
