Apocalyptic Reincarnation: Start with a 30-million Bonus

Chapter 1175: Chapter 731: Holding the Line for 12 Hours [Second Update]

Big Camphor Tree Base.

The lights are bright, and it is currently under high alert, with many cooperative personnel evacuated to the First Outer City.

On the walls, there is a person on guard almost every ten meters.

In the duty room above the gate, there are more than a dozen people inside.

Old Lv, leading four or five people, is patrolling the walls continuously, while Lao Xie leads another team in the opposite direction, ready to support at any time should any situation arise.

The construction site of the Third Outer City has now ceased building.

An empty stretch.

Uncle looked at the pitch-black night outside and, while continuously smoking, spoke to Second Uncle: ”Do you think Xiao Yu and the others are doing well? It’s been so long, and we haven’t received any news back.”

Second Uncle exhaled smoke, perhaps too hurriedly, and immediately started coughing.

”Cough cough cough.”

After half a minute, his face flushed as he said: ”Wait a bit. It’s been twenty minutes since their last message. Once they finish fighting, they’ll naturally contact us. We shouldn’t reach out to them now to avoid distracting them.”

Uncle looked at the night sky as if covered by a black curtain, and with the searchlights, could see five or six scattered zombies moving towards Big Camphor Tree Base.

Such a small number of zombies can be completely ignored.

But feeling somewhat agitated, Uncle picked up his crossbow and shot at those zombies, only feeling much better once he saw them fall to the ground.

Immediately, he used the walkie-talkie to contact numerous extra staff outside the base and stationed personnel, inquiring about their current situation.

The drone hovered in the sky. Due to its proximity to the ground, the noise was quite loud, which could easily attract zombies, not to mention that there might be enemies who would find it out.

So, the drone ascended to a higher position, where from the ground, only small red dots could be seen.

The base has several drones, equipped with excellent DJ technology and night vision functions, so even at heights above one hundred meters, the situation on the ground is visible.

......

Gan City.

An orchard located seven or eight kilometers away.

Hidden within a mountain forest, but the thick scent of blood wafted far away with the evening breeze.

In Gan City, a zombie emerged from a sewer in the night.

Gan City, an ancient city with a history spanning thousands of years, had sewers built a thousand years ago that remained functional until the doomsday.

This zombie came out of the ancient sewer, raised its head, and grimaced, a bit of humor added by the gap between its two large front teeth, for unknown reasons.

As it emerged from the sewer, it sniffed the faint bloody scent in the air.

It let out a howl filled with excitement.

Then it began to slowly walk in the direction the bloody scent was wafted.

Joining it were numerous zombies that had emerged from who knows where.

This zombie was like a drop of water merging into the sea of zombies.

The dark tide of zombies flowed like a black torrent towards the orchard.

They had been starving for a long time, their faces covered in flesh and blood, filled with ferocity and brutality.

In the orchard.

Over two hundred people lay dead, the corpses scattered everywhere.

Some bodies were scorched by flames, emanating a roast meat aroma.

But this only made them feel sick.

”Director Li, the battlefield has been cleared, there are a total of two hundred and sixty-seven bodies, with one hundred and eighty-seven guns found, and only 300 rounds of ammunition,” Lao Yi reported to Li Yu.

Lao Yi previously served as Mr. Ye’s guard platoon leader, always thorough and considerate.

”So few bullets?” Li Yu was somewhat shocked.

However, since the enemy was already eliminated, it isn’t a major concern.

It only allows us to infer that the bullets in the Western Alliance might not be plentiful.

This is good news for Big Camphor Tree Base.

Upon hearing Li Yu’s shock, Lao Yi was also puzzled. ”I too was surprised during the search, but this is the reality.”

”Alright, go help Luo. Just now, Tiezi told me from the drone footage that numerous zombies are coming this way. We must rush to defend,” Li Yu said with a heavy expression.

Lao Yi nodded, took a few steps, then turned back to Li Yu: ”Who should I hand the guns to?”

”Keep them for now, and hand them in when we return to the base.”

”Okay.”

Li Yu watched the slowly darkening night sky, knowing the second battle tonight wouldn’t be long.

He anticipated this since deciding to set out at dusk, also deciding he wouldn’t be able to return to Big Camphor Tree Base tonight.

Instead of traveling at night, it’s better to find a place to stay until morning.

The roads were already bumpy and uneven; if a car breaks down, should we rescue or not?

There are so many uncertainties along the way, the better choice is to remain here.

Even if faced with a massive zombie horde tonight, Li Yu still gathered his team.

For one reason: fear of the enemy fleeing.

From his perspective, since the enemy has come knocking, it’s best to deal with it immediately as waiting is too agonizing.

The battlefield has been cleared, and besides Gan Hu and the other two, no other survivors remain.
