Apocalyptic Reincarnation: Start with a 30-million Bonus

Chapter 826: Chapter 609: Underground Parking Garage, Spine-Chilling

Li Yu looked at the flat position, quite satisfied.

Putting down the telescope, he looked towards the direction of the Yingpan Road Tunnel and Xiangjiang Middle Road in the distance, and said to Ju Tianrui:

”You said that the tunnel over there can directly enter Juzi Island, right?”

Ju Tianrui nodded affirmatively as he looked in the direction Li Yu was pointing and said:

”That’s right, you can reach over there directly from the Yingpan Road Tunnel. After entering the tunnel, there’s a fork in the middle with a corner at the entrance.

Originally, there was no obstruction there, but now a wall about six meters high has been built, and there’s a big gate in the middle. Going in through the gate is the way.”

Li Yu thought for a moment and asked:

”Is there any other way to get in? If we enter through the gate, how thick is the gate? Can we ram it with a car?”

Ju Tianrui shook his head and said:

”Juzi Island is surrounded by water on all sides. If you don’t enter through the tunnel, you can only take the waterway, which means rowing a boat. Whether a boat can be found is one thing, but there are zombies underwater, making it quite dangerous. Plus, we probably don’t have anyone who can sail.

We can only enter through the Yingpan Road Tunnel. As for the gate, though it’s not as strong as the gate at our Big Camphor Tree Base, it’s still going to be very hard to ram open directly.”

Li Yu’s eyes flickered as he began to speak:

”No problem, we’ll just blow it open when the time comes. I don’t believe a few rocket bombs won’t open it. If the gate can withstand it, we’ll blow a hole in the wall. By the way, how thick is the wall?”

Ju Tianrui, who personally participated in the construction of this wall, naturally knew its thickness.

Back then, they didn’t build the wall particularly thick in order to complete it quickly and stop the zombies.

”The wall thickness near the gate is about 60 centimeters, so estimating the possibility of blowing it up is still very difficult,” Ju Tianrui said.

Li Yu nodded. This thickness is much more than ordinary walls, and it’s very hard to penetrate without a caliber above seventy-five.

The armored vehicle they brought is equipped with a 155 Howitzer, which could shoot through, but in that tunnel, the space might be too small to maneuver.

”But Director Li, blasting through the gate is not a problem, so you can rest assured about that,” Ju Tianrui stated, noticing Li Yu’s hesitation.

Suddenly, a thought struck Ju Tianrui, and he said to Li Yu: ”Got it, the walls and the gates at Juzi Island were mainly built by me, and I picked this gate; it’s a double gate and I have the keys for both.”

Huh???

Li Yu, upon hearing this, thought, if he has the keys, why go through all that? Let’s just go right in.

But he thought of a possibility, worriedly saying: ”After you left, can you ensure they didn’t change the locks?”

Ju Tianrui heard the question, took out two large keys from his pocket, and said to Li Yu:

”It’s unlikely they changed them. At the time, to match the size of the door and for stability, I chose very rare locks, and it’s hard to find replacement locks quickly.

Moreover, right after we left, the weather suddenly got hot, followed by a series of disasters like acid rain. They probably had no time or energy to go out and find new locks.”

Li Yu smacked his lips, feeling somewhat emotional that they lacked experience compared to others.

When setting up the gate at the Big Camphor Tree Base, he didn’t install a lock at all, instead opting for the most traditional and conservative push-pull lift gate.

The downside of such a lift gate is that it requires someone on the wall to open it.

The upside is that even if there’s a power outage, it maintains stability.

Besides.

It is, after all, a gate weighing dozens of tons,

with a thickness of 30 centimeters of steel plate, filled with reinforced concrete.

This kind of door is generally used in missile silos.

Meanwhile, the walls around the Big Camphor Tree Base have been continuously reinforced over nearly two years, reaching a thickness of six meters. With walls this thick, ordinary bombs can’t penetrate them.

”Alright, it’s getting late. Let’s contact Li Tie and the others to head back. Dapao, ask them their location; we’ll head over now.” Li Yu shifted his posture, slowly withdrawing from the railing edge.

”Alright,” Dapao said.

Just as Li Yu was moving back a few steps, he seemed to remember something, took out his phone, zoomed in on the camera, and snapped a few photos of Juzi Island, then took several more of the surroundings near Juzi Island for a detailed study tonight.

On the other side.

Dapao took out the walkie-talkie to contact Li Tie and the others.

”This is Dapao. Tiezi, Gangzi, have you found a suitable place to stay tonight?”

”Just found one, this place is nice, at Ma Town, Xiangtang. You can get there from either Dongzhu Road or County Road 320, it’s right at the center of these two roads. Hurry up and come over.”

”Alright, we’ve just finished here, we’ll arrive in about half an hour.”

....

After Li Yu stepped back from the railing, he checked his watch; it was already 5:20.

He then said to everyone: ”Let’s go, it’s getting late. The road will be dangerous if we return after sunset.”

Everyone began to pack up and rushed towards the stairwell.

Li Yu looked around one last time. For some reason, he always had the feeling of being watched.

But he had carefully inspected the surroundings for a long time just now and still couldn’t find any traces or anomalies.

It was pretty late; they needed to leave quickly.

Putting the helmet back on, he slipped his gloves on.

Following Third Uncle and the others.

Going downstairs was much simpler than going up.
