Apocalyptic Reincarnation: Start with a 30-million Bonus

Chapter 822: Chapter 607: Departure, Destination Juzi Island (2)

Their vehicle, driven by Third Uncle and the others, was at the front.

Yang Tianlong and Wang Cheng were driving the last armored RV, traveling at the rear.

In front of them was the armored vehicle driven by Luo, followed by a truck loaded with a mortar, and then Ju Tianrui and his group.

They sped along the road without stopping for breaks.

According to Li Yu’s plan, a quick battle would avoid unnecessary delays.

However, they couldn’t accelerate to the maximum speed because the road was bumpy and rugged, greatly limiting their speed.

They could only travel at 80 kilometers per hour towards Juzi Island.

Rumble——

The tires crushed a large stone on the road, producing an unpleasant noise.

Thud——

Everyone in the vehicle felt like they were on a roller coaster, bouncing up and down in their seats.

Li Tie, seated in the back without a seatbelt, was lifted out of his seat, and his head hit the roof.

Li Yu turned his head and saw Li Tie rubbing his head, looking pained.

So he spoke up:

”The road is getting worse. Everyone, don’t be lazy, buckle up your seatbelts.”

Upon hearing this, Li Tie quickly fastened his seatbelt.

”How are you? Are you okay?” Li Yu asked Li Tie in the backseat.

”I’ve got a bump.” Li Tie touched the spot where he hit, feeling a little swelling.

Li Yu pointed towards the direction of the fridge and said, ”Hey, go grab a bottle of water from the fridge, and apply it.”

”Huh? The temperature isn’t high right now, is the fridge still on?”

Li Yu replied, a bit speechless, ”No, it’s not running, but the water in the fridge is still cold.”

”True.” After bumping his head, Li Tie felt a bit muddled.

On the road, everyone gradually buckled their seatbelts, having no other choice.

Before this natural disaster, even though the national highway had some damage, it wasn’t this severe.

But now, the asphalt road was riddled with potholes.

Debris had fallen from the hillsides on both sides of the national highway, covering the road with a layer of dust.

Some areas were thick with it, some thin, looking like small channels formed by acid rain erosion.

Occasionally,

there would even be a one-meter diameter, thirty-centimeter deep pit right in the middle of the road.

They had to be very careful to avoid it, as a tire getting stuck would be problematic.

The speed of their journey decreased once more.

Ultimately, they could only drive at 60 kilometers per hour to ensure no problems would occur. Any faster might result in a tire blowout, necessitating stopping to change tires, further wasting their time.

Li Yu calculated the time and estimated that given the current road conditions, maintaining a speed of 60 kilometers per hour meant it would take them at least eight hours to reach Juzi Island.

Having set out at 8 o’clock, they likely wouldn’t reach their destination until almost 4 PM.

As night fell, attacking would become difficult; furthermore, in the dark, dealing with the Zombie threat would be very dangerous.

It seemed they could only reach the vicinity by nightfall and then act the following day.

Li Yu conveyed the plan via walkie-talkie to the others, and everyone received it.

Noon.

Since they couldn’t act today anyway, they no longer felt rushed for time.

They decided to rest in the outskirts around Heng City, unsure of the situation there, having never been here before and not knowing if there were Survivors in the city.

If there were Survivors, they weren’t afraid, but under most conditions during the Doomsday, nearly all Survivors adhered to an unwritten rule: avoid strangers if possible.

Because during Doomsday, no one knew about each other’s intents, and entering someone else’s territory recklessly was no good for anyone involved.

So Li Yu and his group didn’t enter Heng City but chose to temporarily stop at a small farmhouse on the outskirts.

Having been jostled around during the journey, they felt quite battered, and everyone stretched their arms after getting out of the vehicle.

Dapao parked the vehicle steadily, turned off the engine, and got out of the car, stretching his back and feeling burdened as if it were ready to snap.

”Brother Yu, this road is really tough. I feel like I’m about to fall apart. Numb!” Dapao said.

Li Yu chuckled and said to him, ”Then let Tiezi drive later. Rotate a bit so it won’t be so exhausting.”

Immediately, Li Yu assigned Li Gang and a few others to stand on the car roof to observe the surroundings.

Standing on the open ground, Li Yu addressed everyone, ”Rest here for 30 minutes, quickly eat and recuperate. We will depart at 12:30.”

Everyone agreed cooperatively.

Third Uncle got off the vehicle, holding a cucumber in hand, gnawing on it while walking towards Li Yu.

Third Uncle surveyed the surroundings, noting the sun was bright and the temperature was about 13°C, not very cold.

Reaching Li Yu, Third Uncle thought for a moment and said, ”I’ll go with you all to Juzi Island first. Xiao Jun hasn’t been to the Western Alliance, just knows the general direction.

Once we reach Juzi Island, find someone to ask. When attacking tomorrow, make sure to leave me two living just in case. Otherwise, I wouldn’t know the exact location of the Western Alliance and would have to search slowly, which is a hassle.”

Li Yu nodded, ”Understood, I’ll talk to the others later and tell them to leave two alive.”

Only then did Third Uncle leave satisfied, returning to the RV.

Everyone felt a bit fatigued, especially the drivers, as they had to ensure complete attention to the road ahead to avoid the tires falling into large pits.
