Chapter 750: Chapter 581: People and Animals in Acid Rain_2

Seeing the zombie rolling down again, he said to Jiu Zhi beside him, ”My eye, what’s up with my eye?”

Jiu Zhi pulled the spear out of the zombie’s skull, and with a forceful thrust of the spear tip, the zombie’s body tumbled down.

Then he began to speak, ”Your eye is red, filled with bloodshot, you can’t even see the black anymore. You weren’t bitten by a zombie, were you?”

After saying that, he looked at him somewhat guardedly.

Duanyan blinked, feeling a swollen sensation in his right eye, somewhat uncomfortable.

He hadn’t noticed it before he was reminded, but now that they were talking about his eye, he instantly felt discomfort.

He cursed rudely at Jiu Zhi, ”I’m wearing gloves and guards, how could I have been bitten, piss off.”

Then he rubbed his eye, and upon touching his right eye with his acid rain-drenched hand, he immediately felt a sharp pain.

The pain was so intense he couldn’t open his eye, just as more zombies started climbing over the wall outside.

Ignoring his eye, and with it still closed, he dropped his hand, gripped the spear, and thrust it at the zombies.

Immediately after, he called out to Baozi, who was walking up behind him, ”Baozi, come and fill in for me, my eye is kind of hurting. I don’t know if it’s because of this acid rain.”

Baozi, upon hearing this, was somewhat reluctant to take his place.

He had just come over to get something, and now he was conscripted.

”Alright, ten minutes, you’ll come back in ten minutes to take over for me. I’ve barely rested for twenty minutes.”

”Mhm, don’t worry,” Duanyan dared not touch his right eye with his hand again.

He staggered into the hall.

”Mirror, mirror, who’s got a mirror?” The pain was intensifying. As soon as Duanyan entered the hall, he shouted.

Many people in the hall were resting, a few cursed loudly, annoyed at being woken up, and went back to sleep.

Some people saw him like this and became alert, asking, ”Duanyan, you’re not bitten by a zombie, are you?”

That statement kicked up a storm.

Everyone stood up, looking at him with faces full of wariness.

If he had been bitten, especially inside the wall, he was definitely going to be killed.

Hai Chao also stood up, slowly walking towards Duanyan, ”Duanyan, tell us the truth, were you bitten by a zombie? We’re not doubting you, but now put your hands on your head, wait for three to five minutes, then we can trust you.”

Duanyan was frustrated and said, ”It’s just a problem with my right eye, I wasn’t bitten by a zombie, I repeat, I wasn’t bitten by a zombie.”

To prove himself, he endured the pain and managed to pry his right eye open for everyone to see.

There were lights in the hall.

Seeing his bloodshot eye, everyone grew even more nervous, and most people were holding their guns, aiming at Duanyan ambiguously.

Seeing this, Duanyan felt a sorrow he couldn’t express. Knowing the seriousness in their eyes, he realized moving could potentially get him shot.

Helplessly, he crouched down on the spot, raising his hands.

Hai Chao slowly approached, stopping three meters away, saying, ”Duanyan, lower your head, let’s see your eye.”

Duanyan slowly raised his head, bearing the pain, and forcibly opened his right eye.

His right eye was covered in bloodshot veins, the lens appeared as if it had been damaged, with two red spots, and the entire area around the right eye was swollen, resembling the eye of an extraterrestrial.

”Go, get a mirror for him,” Hai Chao said to a subordinate after seeing him like this.

Soon, Hai Chao got a mirror and slid it across the floor without approaching, ”Take a look for yourself,” he told Duanyan.

Duanyan hurriedly picked up the mirror, aimed it at his face, and saw his own right eye.

His fingers tightly clutched the mirror, he strained to open his right eye wide, but as the pain grew worse, he eventually closed his eye again.

As he shut it, a tear rolled down from his right eye, clearly due to the pain.

”Brother Hai, three minutes have passed, right? I said I wasn’t bitten by a zombie. You’ve seen for yourself that I have no symptoms. My eye was probably irritated by the acid rain outside.”

Hai Chao looked down at his watch. It had been five minutes since Duanyan had come in, which was almost certainly not enough time for a zombie bite to show.

So, he told the others, ”It’s okay, he wasn’t bitten by a zombie.”

After some thought, he took Duanyan to the bathroom.

He poured a basin of groundwater and said, ”We can’t do anything now, people don’t even have clean water to drink. This groundwater was pumped up yesterday, not too contaminated. Use it to wash your eye. I’ll go look to see if there’s any medicine you can use.”

Duanyan rushed over, scooping water and pouring it over his right eye, trying to clean it.

Hai Chao, seeing him do this, sighed and shook his head, heading to the medicine cabinet they had collected earlier.

With the water washing over his eye, the burning sensation in Duanyan’s eye was slightly relieved, but at the same time, when he opened his eye, the vision became increasingly blurry.

”My eye!!” Duanyan closed his left eye and used his right to look at the indistinct surroundings, howling in pain.

He knew that in this post-apocalyptic world, with his condition, it was unlikely to get better.

He staggered out of the bathroom, his right eye still bright red.

Seeing him like this, everyone else felt downhearted as well; it was the sorrow of one seeing the demise of another.

If they continued to stay in the acid rain and fought against zombies for a long time, they would inevitably have the same problem.
