Apocalyptic Reincarnation: Start with a 30-million Bonus

Chapter 702: Chapter 564: Countdown (Thanks to Maple Night Bells for the generous rewards)

The volcanic eruption is about to occur, and after Li Yu agreed to allow Xiao Jun and others to enter the base, he also thought of some personnel still stationed in Xin City.

He then found He Chao to inquire about the current situation.

”How many of our people are still outside?”

He Chao thought for a moment and then said, ”Zhuzi, Deng Ben... and the personnel stationed near the national highway, a total of 6 people.”

Li Yu pondered for a while, walked out of the room, and was hit by a wave of heat.

The cold air from inside rushed out, and Li Yu immediately closed the door, frowning and saying, ”Let them all come back tomorrow.”

For now, although there is no news from the Western Alliance, there is no longer a great need for it.

After all, in such hot weather, people can’t stay outside for long. A long journey would peel their skin off even if it doesn’t kill them.

Hearing this, He Chao was very happy; he had wanted to propose this to Li Yu two days ago since staying outside in such hot weather was pure suffering.

Now they could finally ask them to return.

However, in addition to the personnel stationed in the Outer City, recently some extra staff have also moved to the vicinity of the Big Camphor Tree Base.

In the past, whenever there were continuous heavy rains, the Big Camphor Tree Base would provide them shelter until the rain stopped, then let them go out on their own.

This has always been the case.

But this time, with the hot weather having no precedent, He Chao was conflicupg the manage whether to mention it or not.

Seeing He Chao still hesitating, Li Yu asked, ”What’s the matter? Is there anything else?”

He Chao hesitated for a moment. Given Li Yu’s usual strictness in personnel management and unsure of Li Yu’s thoughts, he struggled but eventually decided to mention it.

”Director Li, what about the other extra staff?”

He Chao was a bit nervous, unsure if asking this would upset Li Yu.

Li Yu recalled the recent events: high temperatures, volcanic eruption, prolonged darkness, Zombie Tide, followed by acid rain.

This series of events drastically reduced the already scant global population of survivors.

He could not control other places, but in Xin City, most survivors around had cooperated with the base.

And they held the Big Camphor Tree Base in high regard.

Li Yu hesitated for a while, remembering the newly constructed Second Outer City, which, although completed, was uninhabited.

The environment could not compare to the much older First Outer City, but at least the rooms on the first floor had air conditioning.

The extra staff definitely needed rescuing.

As for the other people who had cooperated with the base, whether to save them was a question.

The Big Camphor Tree Base could not become a shelter providing free protection.

Furthermore, managing a larger number of people could be quite troublesome.

However, the location of the Big Camphor Tree Base was well known to those who had stayed long in Xin City.

These people who had cooperated with the base traded various materials for food, and there was no debt between them, everything was fair.

Li Yu had no obligation to save them.

But from the future perspective of the base, which needs development, these people were necessary. If they all died, with whom could the Big Camphor Tree Base cooperate in the future?

Moreover, providing protection to these cooperating individuals during tough times at the Big Camphor Tree Base was a way to strengthen their sense of identification with the base.

The influence of the Big Camphor Tree Base was enhanced through such actions.

There was no need to provide them with food, but offering a shelter was something Li Yu felt could still be done.

So he said to He Chao, ”Later, list the names of the people who have cooperated with the base over the past two years and see how many there are.”

Ultimately, Li Yu decided to let these people in, confiscate their weapons and vehicles, and manage them centrally in the Residential Building of the Second Outer City; deploying people to manage them should not be a problem.

He Chao looked at Li Yu surprisingly, understanding the hint. It seemed like Director Li was going to let those who had cooperated with the base come in.

There had been such cases before. During the last torrential rain, a few hundred people had come in.

”Go on, tally the numbers. Tomorrow, you go out and spread the message,” Li Yu said.

He Chao found it difficult to understand Li Yu now, the Li Yu he saw was previously cold, resolute in killing, although he was very friendly towards the people inside the base, there was little pity for those outside the base.

The current high temperatures, although much higher than last year’s, were still bearable.

He naturally did not know that the high temperatures were just a precursor; what followed with the volcanic eruption, long nights, acid rain, and Zombie Tide, were the main events.

With this combination of events, it was uncertain how many people would survive.

And by the time when those outside the base sought shelter, there would be no chance for them to come in.

Li Yu would not open the door again.

After the volcanic eruption and the world plunged into darkness, with so many zombies around, Li Yu could not risk opening the main gate.

What if it was breached by the Zombie Tide.

Li Yu added, ”Spread the message as widely as possible; there are only three days. After three days, the base will not admit anyone. Also, be meticulous in selecting people. We have been cooperating with outsiders for so long; those who truly wanted to cooperate with us must have already done so.”
