Apocalyptic Reincarnation: Start with a 30-million Bonus

Chapter 732: Chapter 573: The Wind Rises, Zombie Horde Approaches_3

But the next scene made Hai Chao gasp in shock.

Hiss—

He saw the two zombies he had shot in the head fall to the ground, and without any hesitation,

the surrounding zombies started to tear and bite into the two dead ones!

This...

What’s going on here?

You see, before this, these zombies wouldn’t eat their own kind; they only fed on living beings.

Such as humans, animals...

But now, are these zombies beginning to eat their own kind?

He also noticed that although the zombies ate their own kind, they only ate those that were dead.

Gan Shang, who saw this scene as well, felt his scalp tingle.

Not only did these zombies not die out in the scorching temperatures, but they adapted and, even worse, became more depraved and aggressive.

However, this sort of thing wasn’t particularly shocking in the current apocalypse.

Before the end times, lions, snakes, praying mantises, spiders, scorpions, perch, and crickets could all eat their kind.

And sometimes humans would resort to cannibalism...

Let alone zombies...

Seeing Hai Chao about to fire again, Gan Shang immediately advised him to stop: ”Don’t shoot anymore, save the bullets. What are we going to do when they run out? You’re wasting resources.”

Hai Chao felt annoyed by Gan Shang’s blunt scolding, but he quickly calmed down, picked up a spear from under the wall, and called everyone together to hold back the zombies.

The dozens of bodies that they had just thrown off the wall were devoured in less than ten minutes.

The zombies were not satiated; instead, their hunger grew, their mouths smeared with blood, gaping wide with blackened, yellow teeth, still bearing chunks of flesh and remains.

”Kill!” Hai Chao shouted loudly.

His subordinates on the wall immediately began to counterattack.

Originally, their location was surrounded by water on all sides. Even though the zombies could swim, it was difficult for them to pile up in the water, so the pressure on them to counter the zombies wasn’t that high.

And with Ju Tianrui’s elite forces taking the front line, they were relatively at ease when facing the zombies.

But now, due to continuous abnormal high temperatures, the river had dried up, and the zombies were running up directly from the riverbed.

With nothing hindering them, the difficulty of interception increased significantly.

And the lack of personnel made their resistance strenuous.

”Zombies have appeared from other directions too. We need people here,” a tall and lean man ran over, calling from behind them.

In past zombie interceptions, it was Ju Tianrui who commanded, assigned tasks, and formulated defense strategies.

But now that Ju Tianrui had been driven away, they had to take charge.

Without experience, they were immediately in over their heads, with nearly three hundred people in disarray.

Gan Shang recalled Ju Tianrui’s previous arrangements and his methods at the time.

He said to Hai Chao: ”Hai Chao, take a hundred people and hold off the zombies here. Xiao He, take fifty people to the northern wall. Baozi, you take fifty to the west.”

Then thinking of the South District, which was larger in area and its walls lower than those of the North District.

A hint of ruthlessness flashed in his eyes, commanding the remaining person: ”Old Sun, take some people and figure out a way to reinforce the main gate, close off the passageway between the South and North Districts.”

Old Sun was somewhat puzzled and asked, ”Completely seal it off? What about the refugees?”

”At this point, who cares about them? Go, quickly!”

Gan Shang barked out.

In such a critical time, Gan Shang steadied himself, not succumbing to inaction, but instead devising resistance methods and barking orders.
