Apocalyptic Reincarnation: Start with a 30-million Bonus

Chapter 741: Chapter 577: Lifeless [Seeking Monthly Ticket]

Three days after the volcanic eruption.

The environment remained in utter disarray.

Massive amounts of ash had covered the lands worldwide, and thick smoke and sulfur still permeated the air.

The sky remained gloomy, the gray clouds enveloping the region, blocking out the sunlight completely.

Many plants were destroyed, and those that survived had lost their luster.

Trees were coated in volcanic ash and lava; many had fallen or been turned to ash.

The once fluttering flowers and grasses on the prairies had also turned into charred remnants. At this time, the surviving animals began to feel loneliness and fear.

....

And at Juzi Island, the battle against the Zombies had not yet ended.

Gan Shang had given up on the refugee camp in South District; they had completely abandoned it.

They concentrated their forces, mainly covering the walls of North District.

The altered Zombies, with their ghastly pale and glossy skin, were tougher to penetrate than before, making their Zombie-killing efficiency drop significantly.

Everyone fought back against the Zombies amidst the drifting volcanic ash.

Watching the wall, Gan Shang firmly resolved that once they got through this, he would build an even taller wall.

Although he thought this, he also knew that it would be extremely difficult.

They had relied on the river, and although Zombies could swim, it was hard for them to accumulate in the flowing water without being washed away.

Who the hell could have predicted that the weather would become so extreme, reaching such high temperatures and persisting for so many days, that it would completely dry up the river?

Sigh...

Gan Shang missed Ju Tianrui and the others again; he had hardly slept or rested for forty-eight hours.

Just thinking about the Zombies outside the wall was enough to keep him awake.

Constructing the wall also required manpower; Ju Tianrui and others had left, and now there were probably few survivors left in the refugee camp in South District.

Sigh...

With that thought, Gan Shang sighed heavily again.

Snap—

Next to Gan Shang, two people collapsed.

Without minding the dirty ground, Duanmei and Lao Sun collapsed directly.

Duanmei wearily said to Gan Shang: ”Boss, our team really can’t hold on anymore. Can we let another group take over? I really can’t stand it anymore...”

Lao Sun: ”... Me neither.”

A lamp hung at the entrance of the residential building.

Seeing the two men with dark circles almost reaching their chins, Gan Shang got up from the stairs.

These past two days, struggling against the Zombies, he was also extremely exhausted; in such weary condition, he no longer cared about cleanliness.

”Hai Chao, Hai Chao, have Baozi and them hold the East Wall,” Gan Shang shouted towards Hai Chao, who had just come down from the East Wall.

Hai Chao had been on the East Wall since the Zombies arrived and had retreated to the house to rest just twenty minutes ago.

Seeing Hai Chao and Baozi sprawled sleeping inside the room, a rare sense of reluctance emerged in Gan Shang’s heart.

It was known that fighting Zombies on the wall was extremely physically demanding.

Concentration was necessary; using the heavy spears, aiming for the Zombies’ heads.

Otherwise, allowing the Zombies to climb would eventually lead them inside the wall.

In the battle with the Zombies, one had to be very careful; a moment of carelessness, being grabbed by a Zombie and pulled down, meant an unmarked grave.

Even a single bite was a death sentence.

In the span of just two days, they had already lost over thirty people, a sharp decrease in manpower!

Gan Shang glanced at Lao Sun and Duanmei lying outside the steps, walked up, looked at Hai Chao, but did not wake him.

Instead, he walked over to Baozi and kicked him with his foot.

Baozi was sleeping so heavily that he didn’t wake up from the kick.

Gan Shang increased his force, but Baozi still did not awaken.

Helplessly, he squatted down and shook Baozi vigorously: ”Baozi, it’s your team’s turn to go up. Get up quickly!”

Baozi’s body jolted, twitching twice.

He opened his eyes, blankly looking around.

Who am I? Where am I? What am I supposed to do?

Those who are abruptly awakened from deep sleep go through a momentary blank period, unable to recall anything.

After five or six seconds, Baozi finally came to his senses, his head throbbing as if it were about to explode.

He rubbed his head vigorously.

Seeing him like this, Gan Shang said, ”Hurry up, Duanmei and them are down. You go up quickly, if not those on the East Wall can’t hold on. Go quickly.”

With a pained expression, Baozi looked at Gan Shang, recollecting his location, his heart overwhelmed by immense sorrow.

In his wonderful dream just before, he as Baozi alone was surrounded by three beautiful women, eating grapes peeled by the beauties in a luxurious swimming pool, while another massaged his legs and another his head.

Under the Hawaiian sun, basking in the sunlight, the sunlight was warm, the breeze gentle.

The next second.

He was abruptly awoken to face such a harsh reality.

He looked at Gan Shang somewhat resentfully, wishing he had been allowed to sleep a bit longer.

It always feels like the sleep was too short.

”Hurry up, what are you dazed for?” Seeing him finally awake but still standing there rubbing his head in a daze, Gan Shang couldn’t help but curse.

Baozi got up and said morosely, ”I got it. I’m going.”

Then he went to wake up their teammates.

Like Baozi, most of their team looked bewildered, each face confused, all faces puzzled.
