Apocalyptic Reincarnation: Start with a 30-million Bonus

Captain Luo, after hearing Black Snake’s sarcastic comment, showed no change in facial expression, and instead said:

”You all, how many people are there in total? Right now, we’re distributing ten pounds of rice per person, so report the number of people.

Come over to collect it later, and after you’ve collected it, you can go back.

It’s already afternoon now, and it won’t be long before night falls. It’s not safe to be outside when it’s dark.”

Ten pounds—that was a figure Captain Luo had considered carefully. In reality, ten pounds is only a small bag.

Hearing Captain Luo’s words, Black Snake felt a surge of joy. From the words of this man in military uniform, he could confirm one thing: there indeed was food stored in this cave.

And quite a lot of it at that.

In fact, in this apocalypse, ten pounds is not little, but it’s also not too much.

So, when the people in prison garb behind Black Snake heard there were ten pounds of rice, they all took a sharp intake of cold breath, followed by greedy looks flashing in their eyes.

They were like wolves starved for many days.

Black Snake then said: ”We’ve all traveled a long way to get here. Surely this granary holds more than this, right? It’s said that the Government’s reserve granary has at least several dozen tons of grain.

Only distributing ten pounds to each of us, all together that’s just over a thousand pounds. That’s too little; it’s not enough to eat.”

Indeed. Captain Luo’s heart skipped a beat.

He knew that this is human nature, especially so in the apocalypse.

Luckily, he hadn’t revealed too much at the start. Ten pounds, in reality, for the thousands of tons of reserved grain, was just a drop in the ocean.

Thus, Captain Luo’s eyebrows furrowed slightly, as if he was in deep thought.

Then, Captain Luo sighed, seeming to have come to a significant decision, and said:

”This granary has been organized by the Government. You know how precious food is nowadays,

we’ve established a base in the South, where many people are waiting for these grains to save their lives.

Moreover, we’re just the vanguard. The main force will also be arriving soon! And ten pounds is already a lot.

But, seeing that everyone has it tough, I’ll add another two pounds for each of you, which is already a lot.”

In this speech, Captain Luo had actually revealed a lot of information. What he most wanted to tell the people opposite him was not to act rashly.

They were just the vanguard, the main force was still to come. If they wanted to try and seize the grain, they should think carefully.

Thinking this, Captain Luo couldn’t help but sigh sorrowfully. After the apocalypse, their deterrent power had waned significantly.

Black Snake, after hearing Captain Luo’s words, his eyes flickered.

Coming from the South, he didn’t care about that. It had been over a year into this apocalypse, and he had never heard of it.

But he could not be sure either, after all, they had only stayed in the North and never been to the South, unaware of the situation there.

Yet, seeing that Captain Luo and his men only numbered a dozen or so, and hearing that each person could only get twelve pounds of grain, which to Black Snake and his men was already a lot, he always felt that there had to be more in this cave.

His eyes roved around.

Then he looked at Captain Luo and said: ”How should I address you, sir?”

Captain Luo’s eyebrows raised, suddenly unclear what exactly Black Snake had in mind.

So, he replied: ”My surname is Luo.”

Black Snake, with a smile, said: ”Captain Luo, let’s not beat around the bush. Can we go in and see how much there actually is? Twelve pounds of grain is really a little bit too little. Together, we are one hundred and twenty people; that’s not even fifteen hundred pounds.”

Captain Luo’s eyes suddenly turned icy. He gave Black Snake a glare.

Like a cold light in the black of night, it pierced into Black Snake.

He said coldly: ”This is the Government’s granary, are you planning on robbing it?”

Black Snake was startled by Captain Luo’s piercing gaze.

Ever since the apocalypse broke out, leading his own men to overpower the prison guards and seize authority, he had always been very arrogant.

He had never faced any obstruction.

For over a year, nobody had dared to glare at him like this, especially with the tone Captain Luo had taken, and that gaze was eerily similar to Zhang, the prison warden back when he was in prison. In prison, he wasn’t afraid of anyone but had some fear for that warden Zhang.

After the apocalypse, after Black Snake seized power, Warden Zhang was no more.

At this moment, Captain Luo’s cold expression and tone evoked some unpleasant memories in Black Snake.

Instantly, his anger flared up in embarrassment.

He opened his mouth, wanting to retort.

But then he seemed to remember something, and so he said: ”Of course I wouldn’t dare to snatch it, hahaha, no need to be so tense.

In this post-apocalyptic world, it’s not easy for any of us to have survived up to this moment. What’s more, from a higher perspective, we are all human survivors.

We should be united.

Let’s follow Captain Luo’s arrangement then, twelve jin per person it is.”

”Boss.”

”Boss.”

”Boss, they surely have more than this.”

For a moment, his followers behind him began speaking out one after another, eager to remind their leader.

In their hearts, ever since they had usurped power from the jail guards, they had become lawless, they were people who loathed restraint, and after the apocalypse, they had grown even more rampant.

In their eyes, there were no Government, no rules.

There was only one rule, and that was to seize by force!

Whose fist was bigger, that’s who you listen to.

”Shut up,” Black Snake shouted loudly.

His followers immediately clamped their mouths shut, they knew all too well how ruthless their boss was.

Daring to disobey, Black Snake would truly cleave those who didn’t listen.

Literally cleave them open!

Captain Luo remained silent, giving Black Snake a significant glance.

Then he walked behind a rock and said to his team members:

”Go, fetch the rationed amount of food for them. A total of one hundred and twenty people, twelve jin each.”

Several team members responded, ”Okay.”

Captain Luo nodded, then let them go to bring out some food.

He then said to other team members beside him: ”Stay alert, these bastards probably won’t be easily satisfied, everyone be ready for battle at any moment.”

Xiao Liu beside him nodded vigorously and said: ”Captain, shouldn’t we strike first?”

Captain Luo shook his head and said: ”Don’t act impulsively for now, we will adapt as the situation unfolds.”

On Black Snake’s side.

Black Snake began to arrange tasks with his confidants:

”Chicklings, when you go to fetch the food, see if you can find a way to sneak into that cave, check how much food there is.”

”Coward, tell the brothers to spread out, try to encircle them as much as possible, and be ready for a fight at any moment.”

”We’ll first take into our hands these over a thousand jin of food, waiting for them to let their guard down, then take them out, you guys, wait for my command, we’ll straight up seize all the food in there.”

After all, it’s the end of the world, greed is human nature.

Especially food, they would do anything to get more of it.

His followers all expressed understanding; to them, Black Snake was never the type to be honestly obedient.

Hearing the call to raid, all the followers got excited.

.....

Meanwhile, Li Yu was watching from afar, observing Black Snake and Captain Luo, listening to the conversations of people from both sides.

”A food reserve warehouse?” Li Yu muttered to himself.
