Apocalyptic Reincarnation: Start with a 30-million Bonus

At a location less than 5 kilometers away from Xin City.

On National Highway 318, the Black Snake gang from the north had also arrived.

They were aimlessly wandering around the vicinity of Xin City.

They had only heard that there might be a reserve grain silo in a county near Gan City.

Based on the information they got from a former Government official they captured, the greatest likelihood was that it was in Xin City.

After all, Xin City was the closest to Gan City.

The roar of their vehicles startled some of the Survivors in the area,

including those who were searching for supplies nearby.

The vast majority of these Survivors were in cooperation with Big Camphor Tree Base.

According to the cooperation system of Big Camphor Tree Base, there are four levels; the greater the cooperation and contribution, the higher the point value.

Thus, the rights and benefits of cooperating with Big Camphor Tree Base would increase.

Once they reached a certain level, they could join as peripheral members of Big Camphor Tree Base and enjoy a small monthly food allowance.

In their eyes, in this post-apocalyptic world, this was simply a godsend.

Therefore, due to such policies, Big Camphor Tree Base had acquired a massive network of Spies.

As long as there was any disturbance around Xin City, Big Camphor Tree Base would be informed.

Originally, the Black Snake gang coming from National Highway 318 had inadvertently evaded the surveillance personnel on National Highway 319.

But now, due to the noise of their vehicles, some Survivors nearby had discovered them.

Consequently, these people hurriedly contacted He Chao.

For them, being the first to pass on the news--and if the news proved useful, they could exchange it for food--was crucial.

So they were very active.

Most of the external affairs of Big Camphor Tree Base were managed by He Chao’s assistance.

Many Survivors knew that He Chao had also joined Big Camphor Tree Base and that he was like them, having joined later, so they often sought him out.

He Chao also frequented Xin City to search for supplies, making it common for people to encounter him.

...

At this moment, He Chao was searching for some parts in a machinery factory in the suburbs.

Suddenly he heard someone outside asking for him.

He Chao put down what he was holding, instructed his brothers to help load the items onto the vehicle, and walked outside.

Originally, there were over thirty people following He Chao around the Outer City.

It was just that every time he came out, he would encounter some new individuals, individuals who had cooperated with the base.

Recently, some people’s points had slowly increased, and after a while, they might reach the second stage - becoming an external member of the base.

However, they could not yet live in the Outer City like He Chao and his group.

The third stage was where He Chao’s brothers were at, able to reside within the Outer City.

The second stage did not yet have this privilege, only a nominal affiliation to Big Camphor Tree Base and an extremely small monthly food supply.

Only one person had reached the fourth stage, and that was He Chao, who now could enter the Inner City.

So every time He Chao came out, when he needed extra hands, there were always cooperative personnel to help.

”What’s the matter?” He Chao looked at the man in front of him. The man, called Shunzi, was particularly fast at running and apparently used to be a parkour enthusiast.

It’s said that during the initial Zombie outbreak, he managed to dash through over a dozen streets, escaping the Zombie Tide, which made him somewhat of an oddity.

Because of his quick reaction, he was always the first to obtain information and report it.

Shunzi took a breath and said, ”On National Highway 318, a group has come, 35 vehicles. I saw that the people in the first few cars all had guns and some were wearing prison uniforms.”

”Prison uniforms?” He Chao was somewhat surprised upon hearing that.

He remembered that there wasn’t any large prison near Xin City.

35 vehicles meant definitely a lot of people.

Guns, prison uniforms, what could all this imply?

He Chao nodded; he trusted that this Shunzi wouldn’t dare deceive him.

Because after him, other Survivors would undoubtedly report the same news.

Sure enough, 4 minutes later, another person ran over and told him the same thing, albeit with less detail than Shunzi.

Acting according to the rules set by Li Yu, He Chao gave 5 pounds of rice to Shunzi, and then half a pound of rice to the second person.

Only the first two informants could receive rewards – no rewards would be given to those who report the intelligence afterward.

So, being the first to report earned the greatest reward, and the second person received a reward to ensure the accuracy of the intelligence, as the reports from two separate people could corroborate each other.

He Chao had a headache.

Earlier in the morning, he had just received some intelligence.

That troop coming from the Southern direction was now heading towards Luo Tian Rock.

He Chao had just sent people to track them and notified the Big Camphor Tree Base.

Now, another group had arrived – why were so many people entering Xin City in such a short period?

He Chao had a headache and after pondering for a while, seeing that his men had loaded the goods onto the vehicle,

he thought for a moment, then called two brothers and instructed them to carry walkie-talkies.

He told them to continue tracking those who had just entered Xin City.

35 vehicles?! It seemed this group was certainly strong.

He said to the two brothers, ”Be careful, don’t let yourselves be discovered. Safety first. If there’s any situation, you can communicate with us through the walkie-talkies, if you don’t make contact.

Then come to Xin City’s secret base to find me.

Wait there, I’ll go back to the base first, you guys go on.

I’ll repeat, be cautious above all, don’t get spotted.

Don’t act recklessly, any issues wait for Director Li and the others to handle.

Don’t tip off our presence. Understood?”

The two brothers nodded heavily and then set off.

After watching them leave, He Chao called out to them, ”Wait, take these two guns for self-defense. Remember your task is to track, only if you are discovered and pursued,

and have no other choice, then use the guns.”

”Understood, thanks, Brother Chao.”

”Thank Brother Chao, we’re off now.”

He Chao waved them off and as they departed, he mounted the vehicle and headed toward the base.

He kept feeling that these two groups had some purpose in coming to Xin City.

Regardless of their intentions, their strength was no simple matter; the base must prepare in advance.

Two groups had already been dispatched to keep an eye on them, now he needed to inform Li Yu as soon as possible.

Li Yu should be aware by now of the small troop coming from the Southern direction, but those 35 vehicles and the people in prison uniforms, what was their story?

He must hurry back and report to Director Li, He Chao thought as he drove to the base.
