Apocalyptic Reincarnation: Start with a 30-million Bonus

April.

The plum rain season begins.

It will continue until early June.

In Gannan, which is part of the subtropical monsoon climate.

The annual rainfall can reach 1600ml, and even due to the apocalypse, the rainfall has surged.

In fact, it’s not just in Gannan, but the entire world has seen a substantial increase in rainfall, glaciers have melted, and islands have been submerged.

That place, which used to thrive, now has eighty percent of its area inundated.

Xin City is located near the Tropic of Cancer and warms up early in the spring.

The weather is variable, sometimes warm, sometimes cold, and the rainfall is more frequent.

...

The earth quakes, thunder suddenly bursts.

The drizzling rain falls like threads, sprinkling down upon the world.

The east wind brings the dew of rain, heralding the spring in heaven and earth.

The thirsty earth greedily swallows the rainwater.

It’s raining, but the crops in the base have not yet been planted.

But with the current rain, which is not too heavy, An Ya leads everyone to race against time.

Li Yu and the others go over to help, too.

For a moment, other than those on duty on the perimeter walls, everybody else is in the fields planting crops.

The persistent drizzle fills the plains with mist, soaking everyone’s clothes.

The temperature nowadays is also around ten to twenty degrees, so it’s not considered very cold.

On this day, the temperature reached twenty-three degrees.

The air feels heavy, and most of the crops in the fields have been planted, leaving just a small portion of the land undone.

However, because of the rain, Li Yu is even more worried about another issue.

That is, when it rains, zombies might become more powerful, which makes it easy for a Zombie Tide to appear. Once a Zombie Tide emerges.

Many plans and arrangements within the base would be temporarily shelved.

For example:

The search for certain materials, like equipment and raw materials for making bullets, would be put on hold.

Moreover, once it starts raining, the brothers of He Chao on duty outside could find themselves in a particularly dangerous situation.

The rain keeps falling daintily.

Everyone feels the passing of time intensely.

The rain soaks through their clothes, but no one goes to change because they know that time is urgent and that the crops need to be planted as quickly as possible.

...

During the busy farming season, everyone goes all out to do what they should.

The rain blurs the air, and a light breeze begins to rise.

The sky resembles a landscape painting.

Li Yu straightens his back.

He lets go of the steering wheel of the tractor.

He drinks water with a gulp.

Although tired, he feels a sense of peacefulness in time.

But this leisure is soon shattered by zombies.

On National Highway 319, He Chao’s brothers are observing from the building to the north and south.

Suddenly.

They spot a massive horde of zombies flooding onto the national highway, heading their way.

These zombies are endless.

They pack the highway completely.

The personnel on duty on both sides of the highway quickly grab their walkie-talkies and report to the base:

”Brother He, Brother He, a huge Zombie Tide has appeared from the north! The base needs to be on alert.”

He Chao says, ”Roger that, you too stay safe,

Hmm. You guys should return to the base as well, if the zombies spot you, you’re done for.”

The personnel on duty at the highway glance at the Zombie Tide ahead, which is still a few hundred meters away from them.

There’s still time, so one says to the person beside him, ”Let’s go, Brother He told us to return to the base.”

The person next to him responds:

”Okay, good, you go down and start the car first, I’ll be there momentarily, I just need to pack up some things.”

As the two of them are evacuating.

To the south.

The two other people stationed on the south side of the national highway also received He Chao’s notification, instructing them to return to the base as soon as possible.

Once zombies arrive, they won’t have any means to return if they want to.

Every second counts. They hasten their return to the base.

Vroom vroom vroom~

With the roar of engines, they rev their vehicles, rushing back to the base.

On their return journey, they encounter some survivors. These survivors had started cooperating with the base after Li Yu announced the collaboration plan.

After several collaborations, they gradually got to know about the Big Camphor Tree Base and realized that by accumulating enough points through this cooperation, they could join the base, exciting the group of survivors.

This gave them hope for escaping the present danger and constant hunger they were living under.

Many of these survivors had come from Jiefang City.

Therefore, these survivors recognized He Chao and his team.

Knowing they had joined the Big Camphor Tree Base, they wanted to follow and hide inside the base too, but they couldn’t make this decision themselves.

So they reported the situation to He Chao.

Upon hearing this, He Chao consulted with Li Yu.

At that moment, Li Yu was standing on the perimeter wall listening to what He Chao reported.

Looking down at some zombies below the wall.

He pondered.

Since announcing the search for bullet materials, some people have come by with materials to exchange for food over the past few days.

They have made some contributions, and now, with the torrential rain triggering a Zombie Tide,

these people also faced danger.

After thinking for quite a while,

if the base wanted to grow, it was essential to expand its influence, which was not just about Combat Power, but also about providing a convincing sense of reliability.

But if they were to be let in, thorough preparations had to be made.

Moreover,

now that the base sought to grow its influence, there would inevitably be all sorts of unwelcome figures spying on the base. Might as well take this opportunity to deal with them.

Once these people come in and surrender their weapons, there’ll be time to slowly chat with them.

Many from the base came from Jiefang City. By then, through understanding them, it would be apparent whether any of the new arrivals were up to no good.

What’s more, these people were already near the base—better to expose potential risks sooner.

Once they enter the Outer City and surrender their weapons,

is there really a need to worry that they might cause trouble?

The classic three questions:

How many zombies have you killed?

How many people have you killed?

Why?

Let the insightful Third Uncle and the shrewd Second Uncle and others come over; surely, they’ll dig out some information.

It will certainly be interesting.

...

So he said to He Chao, ”You can let them in,

into the Outer City. Then you must constantly monitor their situation.

Additionally, upon entry, everyone must be checked.

No weapons are allowed, all weapons are to be surrendered, only then can they enter the base.”

He Chao nodded and said:

”Understood, Director Li, I’ll tell them right away.”

He then communicated the orders to the duty personnel outside.

The two personnel on duty outside, after hearing He Chao’s orders,

did not stop the people following behind.

And so, those following arrived at the gates of the Outer City base.

Li Yu glanced at the people; there weren’t many and they were manageable.

By now, many people had gathered atop the perimeter wall, guns in hand, ready for any unexpected events.

Inside the gate stood Li Gang and others, with He Chao and his team behind them, ready to check those who sought entry.

The doors of the outer layer slowly pulled open, some zombies stumbled in, but not many.

They were quickly dealt with by Li Yu and his team using crossbows.

Following were twenty some cars, a bit too many.

So Li Yu said to He Chao, ”Have them park their cars outside; the Outer City can’t accommodate that many vehicles. Moreover, have your people explain to them, telling them to keep an eye on those individuals later on.

He then said to Li Gang and others, ”Be meticulous in the inspections.

Check everything that each person entering brings, firearms are particularly forbidden, must be surrendered, and will be returned to them when they leave later on.”
