Apocalyptic Reincarnation: Start with a 30-million Bonus

However, the twenty acres in the Outer City need to be re-cultivated, so we’ll need to use a tractor...

Then, can we get more hands on our side? It’s still a bit tight right now...”

Li Yu listened to what An Ya was telling him and felt very satisfied in his heart. It seemed that An Ya was indeed an agricultural talent.

So he said, ”I’ll talk to He Chao and the others about the planting area in the Outer City to have some of their people help with the farming.

As for the tractor, we should still have some in the warehouse; there were three or four of them before. Find Li Hang later, and have him take you to get one.”

An Ya’s already fair cheeks flushed a bit more upon hearing that Li Yu resolved her issues.

Rosy amidst the dusky.

Watching An Ya’s dusky and slightly rosy face, Li Yu felt a bit amused. Especially since he often heard Grandpa praising her, saying that she truly was an agricultural expert, really very professional.

It was also said that An Ya, in order to research cultivation plans more suitable for the base environment and to improve yields, often spent her entire time in the indoor planting base.

Perhaps it’s her love for agriculture that makes her work so hard. But after all, given the effort she put in, and as a leader of the base, Li Yu was inclined to reward her.

So he asked An Ya, ”Do you want anything?”

An Ya thought for a while, then shook her head and said, ”No, I’m pretty happy with how things are now. Many of the ideas I used to want to try can now be put into practice, and I’m quite happy with the present.”

Looking at this unpretentious, sun-kissed young girl, Li Yu couldn’t help but feel relieved. This An Ya was really very reassuring.

He then asked, ”What about your family? Next time we have to go out, I’ll have them help look for them as well.”

Upon hearing Li Yu’s words, An Ya straightforwardly replied, ”I’m an orphan, grew up in an orphanage. After the apocalypse broke out, I went back to the orphanage I came from, but no one was there.”

After saying this, it seemed she remembered something, so she said to Li Yu, ”If possible, can you please not let Xiao Shi feed the pigs anymore? She’s actually a bit afraid of pigs but has never dared to tell you. She mentioned to me before that she wanted to work on planting with me.

Why not let her come and help me?”

Her words carried little sorrow and no great emotional fluctuation, as if stating a simple fact.

But it’s precisely because of this attitude that it touched one’s heart.

A girl like her, able to be so strong, was already very admirable.

But she’s not just strong; she also has a detached mindset, easily contented, and even thinks about helping others.

A heart of gold.

This deeply moved Li Yu.

Thinking of that somewhat quirky young girl, it was unexpected that she feared feeding pigs, just never would have guessed she was so stubborn.

She never told him.

Planting with An Ya?

Li Yu found it somewhat amusing. Is farming simpler than feeding pigs?

So he said with a smile, ”Sure, I don’t know what she can do. She chose to feed pigs herself, if she doesn’t want to do it now, that’s also fine.

I’ll ask her, and if she wants to come work on farming with you, I’ll have her come help you.”

”Thank you. Director Li, you’re a good person,” An Ya said sincerely.

A good person?

Can a good person kill so many people like a Butcher?

Can a good person be so cold and ruthless?

Li Yu smiled wryly at himself, not replying.

Perhaps An Ya hasn’t seen another side of Li Yu.

But she will have the chance to see it eventually.

...

After leaving An Ya, Li Yu went straight to the pigsty.

Before even reaching the pigsty, the strong smell of pig manure wafted up to him.

And as he arrived at the gate of the pigsty, he heard a voice from inside:

”Don’t come over, ah! Don’t come over! I’m telling you, don’t come over! Wuu wuu~”

Hearing this, Li Yu couldn’t help but laugh mercilessly.

This Xiao Shi, really scared of pigs indeed.

She had put on a brave front, agreeing to feed the pigs to prove herself capable, having stubbornly taken on the role and still sticking with it.

Li Yu approached the gate and saw this scene.

A ”fully armed” young girl, wearing a mask and an apron, holding a broom for sweeping the floor, crouched in a corner, shivering as she watched the pigs in front of her.

These pigs were very large.

A group of pigs grunting and rooting around just beneath Xiao Shi’s feet.

Beneath her feet was a bucket of pig feed.

Seeing this, Li Yu walked over, lifted the bucket of feed, and poured it into the trough.

The pigs that had surrounded Xiao Shi scattered at once, heading towards the trough.

Gruntingly eating.

Li Yu glanced at the pig; its teeth were somewhat long, fat and droopy ears, indeed looking a bit ugly, no wonder the young girl was scared.

But that pig’s head meat is really delicious, as well as braised pork...

Thinking this, he suddenly found the pig a bit endearing...

Shaking his head, Li Yu came back to his senses; how could he start thinking about eating upon seeing this pig?

Turning back, he saw Xiao Shi staring blankly at him.

”Are you alright?” Li Yu asked, wondering if this silly girl had been frightened senseless by the pigs.

Hearing Li Yu’s voice, Xiao Shi snapped back to reality, her eyes suddenly reddening.

She had never been through so much hardship growing up, but she knew she had to endure.

This past year had brought too much hardship, surviving the post-apocalyptic world, facing the brink of starvation.
