Pokemon: Reborn As Ash, I'll Conquer Every League

Chapter 174: Chapter 174: Giovanni’s Solicitation

Chapter 174: Giovanni’s Solicitation

Giovanni’s Mewtwo had just conjured a Shadow Ball, but before it could throw it, it was glared at by Ash’s Mewtwo, and a powerful Telekinesis instantly dissipated the Shadow Ball.

”How is this possible?”

Giovanni simply could not believe it; the gap was actually this wide.

”Nothing is impossible. Mega Mewtwo Y enhances Mewtwo’s own Telekinesis. Giovanni, the outcome is decided; you have lost.”

Ash was very confident in Mewtwo Y.

The only way for Giovanni to turn the tables would be if his Mewtwo could also undergo Mega Evolution, but that was clearly impossible. Firstly, his Mewtwo did not have a super evolution stone, and secondly, his Mewtwo was clearly only recently cultivated and did not have a good understanding of its own strength.

Mewtwo Y’s Telekinesis materialized, delivering a ruthless Psyshock to Mewtwo No. 2, and then Mewtwo No. 2 was slammed into the ground.

Boom!

Mewtwo No. 2 angrily conjured an Aura Sphere, stomped its foot, and flew toward the floating Mewtwo Y like a cannonball, pushing the Aura Sphere forward as it got close.

After an explosion, Mewtwo Y remained completely unscathed.

”Mega Evolution! Damn it!”

Giovanni’s face was as dark as the bottom of a pot. Angry as he was, when he thought about Ash’s background and his understanding of Mega Evolution, he felt as if he had discovered some incredible secret, so he asked: ”Kid, I heard you are a Trainer from Pallet Town and have a very good relationship with old man Oak. You must be the newly promoted Pokémon Professor from the last few years, right? The youngest and most promising Fairy-type discoverer in the history of the League.”

”So what if I am, and so what if I’m not?”

Ash was not at all surprised that Giovanni could guess his identity. Anyway, secret identities would be exposed sooner or later, and Team Rockets’ intelligence organization was not incompetent, plus Giovanni himself was not a fool.

”Cooperate. You have strength and reputation, and I have capital and a large number of subordinates. Let’s join forces to overthrow the corrupt League and rebuild a new order.” Giovanni extended an invitation to Ash.

Ash shook his head: ”You guys should handle that kind of thing; I don’t want to get involved in your messy business.”

The Pokémon League in the Kanto and Johto regions did indeed have quite a few problems; Professor Oak had told him this personally before.

Ash didn’t actually know what the specific problems were, but Professor Oak kept his mouth shut whenever the topic came up. He could guess that it might be a conflict between the major families that founded the League and newly emerging families or forces. Anyway, once one got involved, there would be a lot of trouble.

Furthermore, Team Rockets was still an evil organization. Ash didn’t want to become a rat crossing the street by hanging out with them.

”...”

Giovanni was silent.

While the two were talking, the battle between the two Mewtwos had already entered a white-hot stage. Although Mewtwo No. 2’s Telekinesis couldn’t compare to Mewtwo Y’s, its durability was extremely strong.

Mewtwo No. 2 conjured an even larger blue Energy Ball with both hands again, smashed it forcefully toward Mewtwo Y, and then used Agility, intending to engage in close-quarters combat.

Mewtwo Y didn’t hesitate at all, raising its hand to open a pale blue barrier.

Rumble!

The Aura Sphere and the Aura barrier cast by Mewtwo Y canceled each other out. Mewtwo No. 2 had already approached Mewtwo Y by this time, and just as it wanted to launch an attack, Mewtwo Y revealed an eerie smile.

Seeing the tentacles extending from Mewtwo Y’s head to its heels, it wrapped around the arm Mewtwo swung, and then swung it back and forth like a sledgehammer.

Mewtwo only felt aggrieved. This was the first time since its creation that it had fought an opponent with a Trainer, and the opponent even had the same face as itself, yet it was completely crushed by the opponent. Its Psychic-type skills couldn’t win, its Fighting-type skills left no damage after being conjured, and it was even tied up by tentacles in close combat.

”Mewtwo, Psystrike!” Ash ordered suddenly.

Psystrike, Mewtwo’s signature move, where super-strong Spiritual Energy turns into a solid entity to attack. Mewtwo Y is a form that enhances Telekinesis; in this form, the Telekinesis can easily destroy a building.

Once Psystrike was launched, Giovanni’s Mewtwo was instantly severely injured.

Ash glanced at the injuries of Giovanni’s Mewtwo, casually activated Natural Power to relieve its pain, and then looked at Giovanni: ”Let’s end the battle here.”

”So that’s it. You are the one who awakened that kind of power before.”

Seeing that Ash had the ability to heal Pokémon, Giovanni subconsciously mistook it for Viridian Power. After all, he was once a possessor of Viridian Power, but after he witnessed the corruption of the Pokémon League and became a mafia boss, this power left him.

”Viridian Power is a special ability bestowed upon humans by nature. Giovanni, it is not your ability that abandoned you, but you who abandoned this power.”

Ash also did not believe that an awakened special ability would truly dissipate.

And being able to awaken Viridian Power showed that before Giovanni sat in the position of the boss of Team Rockets, he also held a passionate heart for Pokémon, but he saw too many dark sides, causing him to also become corrupted.

”Let me give you a piece of advice: the Pokémon League is not as simple as you think. Do you really think that you are the only one in this world who sees the corruption of the League? Chairman Charles Goodshow and Professor Oak are both dissatisfied with the current League, but they don’t show it; they just silently use their own power to change it as much as possible. Your methods are too extreme and will only hurt those commoner Trainers in the end.”

The internal relationships of the Pokémon League are intricate, and black technology from all over the world can almost be seen within the Leagues of various regions. Ash did not believe that Team Rockets alone could overthrow a regional League.

Take the collector who tried to capture Lugia as an example. This guy wasn’t even a Trainer himself, but relying on a black-tech fortress, he could catch two of the three legendary birds, and the capture device could even trap Lugia. A regular wealthy person could achieve this level, so would the Pokémon League be any worse than this collector? The answer is naturally no.

Perhaps the merger of the Kanto and Johto regions was a big game of chess played by Charles Goodshow, Professor Oak, and the noble families that founded the League, all for the sake of fighting for the initiative in these two regions.

Team Rockets not being completely purged was perhaps intentional, for the sake of balance.

”Your Mewtwo is very strong. I don’t want to see you use it to do bad things, otherwise, you know.”

After saying this, Ash flew toward Violet City.

Giovanni could give orders directly to Mewtwo No. 2, which proved that Mewtwo No. 2 might have already accepted Giovanni; forcibly capturing it would only increase trouble.

Moreover, Giovanni’s arrival this time was not with malicious intent, so Ash wouldn’t play the villain.

Before entering Violet City, Ash was stopped by a certain Flying-type Elite.

Seeing Lance riding Dragonite blocking the way, Ash immediately accused him: ”I say, Lance, you are not doing your job!”

Lance, sporting two dark circles under his eyes, complained: ”What do you mean not doing my job? I’ve been working overtime for more than half a month. If you want to blame someone, blame those two guys, Bruno and Lorelei.”

”Are those two on strike again?” Ash asked.

”More than just on strike, I can’t even contact them. They probably went on vacation somewhere. By the way, Ash, what about that guy Giovanni? Didn’t you take him down?”

Lance remembered that he came to work, not to chat.

”Damn, Lance, what are you thinking? Giovanni has Champion-level combat power! And he has a Mewtwo on his hand. Do you think I can take him down? Are you kidding me?”

”So you let him run away again?”

”What else?”

Ash was not crazy.

Giovanni was a hot potato; catching him would only bring trouble, and he didn’t want to be stupid.
