Chapter 164: The unlucky people who were put in jail as soon as they arrived at the new map

Snap!

As soon as Jenny turned her head, Brock was mercilessly pulled aside by Misty.

Ash showed his Patrol Officer ID and asked, ”Jenny, is Professor Elm in trouble?”

After seeing the ID, Jenny’s originally serious face immediately bloomed into a warm smile, ”Mr. Ash, hello, welcome to our Johto region.”

Then she took out a signature set, ”Mr. Ash, could I trouble you to sign for me?”

”Uh....”

Ash picked up the pen and quickly signed his name.

After Jenny put away the signature, she explained with satisfaction, ”Mr. Ash, Professor Elm is fine, but a Totodile was stolen from the laboratory, and we are currently sending people to search for it.”

”Stolen? I knew it, something must have happened to Nurse Joy.”

Misty grabbed his collar and pulled him away again, ”Enough, unauthorized personnel, please come this way.”

”A Totodile being stolen, that truly is a tricky matter.”

Totodile is one of the First Generation Starters of the Johto region. Every First Generation Starter to be given to a Newcomer Trainer is registered with the Pokémon League in that region. The League has a fixed quota for how many are distributed each year. The theft of one means that it is very likely that a Newcomer Trainer will not receive their deserved Pokemon.

This concerns the reputation of a region. If the Newcomer Trainer’s deserved benefits cannot be guaranteed, then how can the benefits of Trainers of other levels be guaranteed? The benefits of Trainers traveling from other regions would be even less guaranteed.

Of course, it’s not that if one is missing, the League can’t make up for it, but making up for it also takes time. After all, the First Generation Starters distributed by the League are all bred by Pokémon League designated breeding houses. Some hatch early and some hatch late. Everyone who can receive a First Generation Starter is registered in advance and chosen from these hatched First Generation Starters.

If an early-hatched one isn’t sent out, its level will gradually increase even if it’s kept in the breeding house. Such a high-level First Generation Starter, even if it hasn’t evolved to the second stage, isn’t something a newcomer can command. A late-hatched one might not even be weaned, so where would its combat power come from?

Not every region’s First Generation Starter distribution is like Dr. Oak’s, where another Pokemon is arranged in advance, nor is everyone as optimistic as idiot in the original work.

The group, led by Jenny, walked into Professor Elm’s laboratory.

As soon as they entered, Ash and the others saw Nurse Joy scolding Professor Elm.

”Nurse Joy, haven’t you finished scolding him yet? I’ve brought you some help!” Jenny said.

”Almost done, this guy just never learns.”

Nurse Joy was already used to Professor Elm being absorbed in his research, but this was the first time he had caused such big trouble.

”Ash?” Professor Elm looked at Ash with some surprise.

Ash smiled and greeted, ”Professor Elm, long time no see, you’re still the same!”

Nurse Joy seemed to have forgotten what had just happened, looking at Ash with some excitement, ”Oh, you’re Dr. Ash, right?”

”Yes... it’s me, Nurse Joy, have you found any clues?” Ash tried to change the subject.

Nurse Joy was like someone who had seen an idol, completely ignoring Ash’s question, ”Dr. Ash seems even younger than the rumors say. Could I trouble you to sign for me?”

The sound of a broken heart.

Brock’s background turned gray again.

”Why... why are they all so fond of Ash?”

”Ash, it’s good you’re here. Quickly use your special ability to find Pokemon and help me find Totodile!” Professor Elm clutched Ash like a drowning man grasping a straw.

He was Dr. Oak’s disciple and had studied at Oak’s research for a period, so he also had some understanding of Ash’s Aura.

”Helping you find it is no problem, but you’ll have to give me some clues.”

Aura can indeed detect Pokemon information within a certain range, but Ash’s ability couldn’t guarantee covering the entire City, and he didn’t know the Wave Guide frequency of the stolen Totodile.

”Jenny, no fingerprints were found, but we found this!”

At this moment, a police officer came over holding a stone slab with footprints.

”This footprint seems to be left by Meowth, and the other two should be a male and a female. I probably know who took Totodile.”

The only male and female combination with a Meowth that Ash could think of was the Team Rocket Trio.

”Really? That’s great!”

Finally, there were clues, and Okido and the others were overjoyed.

With his Aura fully unleashed, Ash quickly discovered the whereabouts of the Team Rocket Trio.

Soon, Ash led Jenny and cornered the Team Rocket Trio in a park.

Totodile was biting onto Jessie’s hair and wouldn’t let go, making Jessie stomp her feet in anger.

”Hey, haven’t you three idiots learned your lesson yet?”

Hearing Ash’s voice, the Team Rocket Trio cast confused glances, ”Ash? And Jenny?”

Jenny pulled out handcuffs, ”Team Rockets, you are under arrest! Immediately hand over that Totodile.”

”Since you told us to hand it over.”

”We’re just not going to hand it over....”

”Eevee, use Quick Attack.”

Before Team Rockets could finish their lines, Eevee clawed off Jessie’s hair, and Totodile fell down.

”My hair!” Jessie shrieked, looking up at the sky.

Her beautiful hair was what she cared about most.

”Pikachu, Thunderbolt.”

”Pika~”

Pikachu jumped over and unleashed a bolt of lightning.

The Team Rocket Trio were directly stunned by the electricity.

Then Jenny put silver bracelets on them and took them back to eat public food.

Ash knew these three would definitely be out very soon.

After bringing Totodile back to the Pokémon Center, Ash also completed his registration for the Silver Conference, and all that was left was to collect the gym badges.
