Chapter 152 The system comes to assist again

Misty released all the Pokémon she was carrying, except for Cleffa that she was holding, all of them were Water-type Pokémon: Milotic, Gyarados, Psyduck, Kingdra, and Poliwag.

”Hmm, this Milotic is very well-developed, and its beauty is quite high; it’s very well-trained. This Gyarados has very shiny scales and a strong presence...”

After observing Misty’s Pokémon, Lorelei made up her mind, ”Misty, your Pokémon are very well-trained, and their aptitudes are also excellent. You truly have Elite potential, so I want you to be my successor. Of course, I will probably be busy for a while, so you can still travel with Ash for some time. Therefore, you have some time to consider; there’s no need to rush your answer.”

”But Lorelei, I’m still thinking about revitalizing the Cerulean Gym. If I become your successor, I’m afraid I’ll waste your time.”

Misty looked at Lorelei with a hint of embarrassment.

”It’s fine. It’s not like if you become an Elite, you can’t be a Gym Leader. Grandma Agatha, you should all know, she’s temporarily serving as a Gym Leader in Viridian City now.

Gym challenges and such are actually minor matters; you can just use the Pokémon provided by the League to handle them. Besides, being able to guard the Gym and battle other Trainers is also a good path for growth.

More than half of the Elite in various regions around the world started as Gym Leaders. You have the qualification to inherit a Gym, so becoming an Elite candidate is not only fine, but the League will also provide support.”

Having finally found a promising successor, Lorelei didn’t want to let her go easily.

”Misty, revitalizing the Gym relies on strength. Once you become a Kanto Elite Trainer, your dream of revitalizing the Gym will be realized, and you’ll also be one step closer to your goal of becoming a Water-type Pokémon Master, won’t you?” Ash coaxed.

He also had his own ambition; if Team Rockets could help their own people become Gym Leaders, then why couldn’t Ash help his own people sit on the Elite throne?

He was no worse than Giovanni, so why couldn’t he do what Giovanni could do, but better?

”That seems to be true.”

Misty, as if by some strange twist of fate, agreed.

”Good, from today onwards, Misty, you are the successor I have chosen!” Lorelei said with a chuckle, gently patting Misty’s shoulder twice.

”Ding, detected a significant turning point in the life of a partner with deep affection for the host. Reward obtained: key stone 1, Gyarados Mega Evolution ite 1. Note: The host cannot use this reward.”

”???”

Ash listened to the system prompt in his mind, his head full of question marks. What did this mean? Another assist, was it?

”Lorelei, I will work hard!” Misty said earnestly.

”From now on, just call me ’Jie’ like Serena does. I find the word ’Master’ a bit off-putting.”

”Oh, Lorelei.”

Lorelei checked the time, ”It’s still early, let me see your command level.”

”We’re going to battle? But...”

”It’s just a simple test, which will also make it easier for me to formulate a training plan for you later. Don’t worry, I’m not that muscular brute Shi Ba; my training is very relaxed.”

Subsequently, the two stood on opposite sides of the battleground.

”Cloyster, I’m counting on you!”

”Pokémon: Cloyster”

”Attribute: Water + Ice”

”Gender: Male”

”Level: Quasi-Champion High-level”

”Ability: Skill Link (If a multi-hit move is used, it will always hit the maximum number of times)”

”Aptitude: Quasi-Champion”

”Skills: Supersonic, Shell Clamp, Spike Cannon, Aurora Beam, Ice Beam, Iron Defense...”

Since it was a test, Lorelei didn’t bring out her ace Pokémon, Jynx and Lapras.

”Cloyster, huh? Then I’ll...”

”Wait a moment, Misty, here, take this!”

Just as Misty was thinking about which Pokémon to send out, Ash handed over a set of super evolution stone.

”What is this?” Misty looked at Ash in confusion.

She had seen a key stone before, but what was that super evolution stone?

”This is Gyarados’s Mega Evolution ite. You can try it and see if your bond with Gyarados is strong enough to trigger it.”

”This...” Misty hesitated for a moment, but seeing Ash’s sincere gaze, she slowly nodded and said, ”Okay, I’ll try my best.”

”Tsk tsk tsk, as expected of Ash, he has so many Mega Evolution sets that he gives them away casually!”

Lorelei’s eyes showed envy. Mega Evolution items were now being sold at high prices. She also wanted to get a set, but unfortunately, it seemed her team didn’t have any Pokémon that could use them.

”If Lorelei needs it, you can just say so. I’ll try my best to get a set for you, but it might require a small price.” Ash said with a chuckle.

Hearing this, Lorelei’s eyes lit up, ”Ash, hearing you say that, have you thoroughly researched the Mega Evolution battle system? Which Ice-type or Water-type Pokémon are there? Tell me, I’ll see if I can train one.”

”Actually, Jie, your Slowbro can Mega Evolve. As for others, what I’ve currently found that can Mega Evolve are Blastoise, Gyarados, Swampert, Sharpedo, Glalie, and Abomasnow, which might be suitable for you. Of course, it’s not ruled out that other Pokémon can also Mega Evolve.

The research on Mega Evolution isn’t completely perfected yet; there should still be many other Pokémon that can Mega Evolve, but you need to find the corresponding super evolution stone. If I find suitable ones in the future, I’ll definitely inform you immediately, Jie.”

With the system, Ash didn’t speak too definitively. After all, the items for the Three Legendary Birds’ Primal Reversion had already been found, so would others be far behind?

Furthermore, super evolution stone are good for personal use, and they’re also pretty good for doing favors.
