Chapter 167: Team Rocket Learns to Be Smart

Seeing Ash and the others leave, the Heracross protecting Butterfree also followed behind.

”That guy has been following us since just now,” Brock said.

Ash looked at Heracross clumsily hiding its figure and guessed, ”It must be eager to become stronger.”

”Ash, why don’t you just catch it?” Misty suggested.

”Alright, Mr. Mori-nan, please wait a moment,” Ash greeted and walked towards Heracross.

”Heracross, do you want to come with us? Food and lodging are provided, and I can help you become stronger.”

As he spoke, Ash habitually took out some energy cubes.

Smelling the energy cubes, Heracross nodded vigorously.

Ash fed it two pieces, then took out a Luxury Ball and retrieved it.

”Ding, detected that the host captured Heracross, reward: 5,000 points, Mega Heracross ite * 1”

”Alright, Mr. Mori-nan, let’s continue!”

Led by Mori-nan, the group quickly arrived beside a canyon.

”The forest where Pinsir lives is on the opposite side, and there’s a suspension bridge nearby that leads to the other side,” Mori-nan said.

The group walked towards the suspension bridge, and along the way, they saw how Pinsir crossed the canyon; Pinsir jumped from the opposite bank by relying on two trees growing on the canyon’s cliff.

A few minutes later.

Ash and the others arrived beside a suspension bridge.

They saw that only four ropes of the suspension bridge were still connected to the opposite side, while the bridge planks had been cut off by sharp objects.

”The cuts are clean, done by human tools. Mr. Mori-nan, it seems someone is causing damage in the forest where Pinsir lives.”

Ash could almost certainly conclude that the three unlucky Team Rockets members had been released from prison.

Misty looked at the dozens of meters high canyon and said, ”Without a suspension bridge, how do we get across?”

”Mr. Mori-nan, is there a second suspension bridge here?” Brock asked.

”The second suspension bridge is at least a day’s walk from here, and one more day means several more withered trees in this forest.”

”The suspension bridge is destroyed, but this is a forest. Mr. Mori-nan, I’m sorry.”

Ash walked behind a thick tree and said to Pikachu, ”Pika?, it’s up to you. Cut it down with Iron Tail.”

”Pika!”

Pikachu showed a confident expression; as a long-time partner, he naturally knew what Ash intended to do.

As the Giant Beast Slash was unleashed, the tree was neatly cut, and the thick trunk lay across the canyon, forming a single-plank bridge.

”Misty, hold on tight, I’ll take you across!” Ash reached out and pulled Misty’s hand, walking onto the single-plank bridge.

Before long, the group successfully arrived at the forest where Pinsir lives.

Not long after walking, the group saw a large tree that five people could barely embrace. Mori-nan said, ”Ahead is the large tree where the Pinsir group often resides.”

Misty looked at the Pinsir-shaped object clinging to the tree trunk and said, ”Is that a Pinsir on the tree too? It’s so big!”

”Looking at its size, it’s really many times larger than a Pinsir, and there’s a big difference in color too,” Brock wondered.

”No, that looks very much like a Pinsir, but it’s actually machine-made, twice the size of a Pinsir.”

In terms of observation, Mori-nan, who was selected for the forest patrol, was clearly superior to Misty and Brock.

”No need to look, this must be those three guys again.”

Ash had already sensed the Aura of those three fools.

”Ash, it’s you again! Today we won’t lay a hand on your Pikachu, and you shouldn’t interfere with our plan!” Jessie’s voice came from the direction of the machine Pinsir.

”You three have been jailed so many times, yet you still don’t repent,” Misty said, speechless.

”Tsk, if it weren’t for you guys constantly getting in our way, how could we have messed up and ended up in jail?” James said indignantly.

”You three fools, if you don’t do bad things, we’re too lazy to bother with you. You drove those Pinsir away, didn’t you?” Brock asked.

Mori-nan listened to their conversation and wondered, ”Ash, you know them?”

”They are members of Team Rockets, and they’ve been pestering us non-stop since the Kanto region,” Ash explained.

Mori-nan frowned slightly, ”Team Rockets, huh? That’s indeed a serious problem.”

”Don’t worry, Mr. Mori-nan, those three are just idiots,” Misty said disdainfully.

”You brat, who are you calling an idiot? Meowth, quickly deal with her!” Jessie commanded.

”Coming right up!”

Meowth controlled the mechanical Pinsir to jump down from the tree.

”You three fools, you have such good skills, but you just won’t use them for good. Heracross, it’s up to you!”

Ash put the newly rewarded super evolution stone on Heracross, then took out his key stone, ”Heracross Mega Evolution!”

After a burst of white light, Mega Heracross made a dazzling appearance.

”Huh? Is that fake? Ash just caught them, how can it Mega Evolve directly?” Misty looked at Ash in horror.

She knew from experiencing Mega Evolution that it greatly tests the bond between a Trainer and their Pokémon.

”Hehe, that’s a secret.”

Ash achieved Mega Evolution simply through Natural Power and the passive ability of being connected to Pokémon’s hearts. The so-called bond is actually very subjective; the core of this thing is actually for the Trainer and the Pokémon to achieve a spiritual connection.

”Ash seems to have gotten stronger again. He can use Mega Evolution so easily,” James said, trembling.

Jessie didn’t care about any of that; they were so poor now they could only live on tree sap. If they didn’t hold onto these past few days’ gains, they would only be able to eat the northwest wind next.

”Our machine Pinsir won’t lose, Meowth, go!”

”Go my butt, Meow!”

Meowth didn’t want to experience the feeling of being blown away, so he controlled the robot to unload the tree sap cans from its back, grabbed the three of them, and scurried into the depths of the forest.

”These three guys have made some progress, after all! They know how to escape now,” Misty exclaimed.

”Forget it, considering they’re sensible, let’s let them off the hook this time.”
