Chapter 99: Chapter 99: Confession

About half an hour later, Qin Feng returned to the room, looking utterly pleased with himself. The moment Lin Yun saw Qin Feng’s expression, a bad feeling welled up inside him.

”Qin Feng, what did Lu Bingning want with you?” Lin Yun asked.

Hearing this, Qin Feng replied almost reflexively, ”She was asking about you.”

”About me? What did you tell her?” Lin Yun’s ominous feeling grew stronger.

”I just told her the truth, of course.”

Qin Feng’s answer made Lin Yun practically fume with anger. ’This guy... and I was hoping he’d be a little smarter. It seems I completely overestimated him.’

”Damn it, what exactly did you tell her?” Lin Yun smacked Qin Feng on the forehead to snap him out of it.

Snapping back to his senses, Qin Feng recounted everything. The more Lin Yun listened, the more speechless he became. ’He’d completely sold me out.’

”You’re such an idiot! You even told her that I know Tiger Roar Fist! I’m going to kill you!” Furious, Lin Yun kicked Qin Feng squarely in the butt.

Suddenly kicked, Qin Feng roared in anger, ”Lin Shan, what was that for?! All I did was tell her about you. Is there any need to get so angry?”

”Angry? Right now, I really do want to kill you.” Faced with Qin Feng’s shouting, Lin Yun’s expression grew even more furious. ’This guy is completely brainless.’

Qin Feng felt wronged. He couldn’t understand why Lin Yun was so furious. If a beautiful woman came to ask about him, he would have been over the moon. Didn’t this just prove that Lu Bingning was interested in Lin Yun?

Since Qin Feng didn’t know Lin Yun’s true identity, it was no wonder he thought that way.

With a furious expression, Lin Yun sat on a stool to think. ’Based on what happened, Lu Bingning must have figured out my identity by now. There’s no point in hiding it anymore.’

”Qin Feng, I’m going out,” Lin Yun called out, then walked straight out the door. Seeing this, Little Ape leaped onto his shoulder.

”What a strange guy,” Qin Feng muttered, watching Lin Yun’s retreating back. He then sat cross-legged on the bed and began to cultivate. After their two months in Mysterious City, Qin Feng had become quite diligent about his practice.

As he walked down the street, Lin Yun thought to himself, ’At this point, I just have to come clean. Taking the initiative is definitely better than being passive. Good thing I noticed which inn Lu Bingning was staying at yesterday.’

It wasn’t very far, and soon Lin Yun arrived at Lu Bingning’s inn.

Approaching the counter, he asked the Shopkeeper, ”Excuse me, which room is Miss Lu Bingning in?”

”And who are you?” the Shopkeeper asked, looking up with a scornful expression.

Lin Yun was displeased by the Shopkeeper’s attitude. ’What’s his problem? I’m just asking a simple question, and he’s looking at me with such contempt.’ Still, he suppressed his anger and said, ”I’m a friend of Miss Lu.”

The Shopkeeper snorted with laughter, the scorn on his face deepening. Without even looking at Lin Yun, he said, ”Dozens of people claim to be Miss Lu’s friend every day. Kid, let me give you a piece of advice: Miss Lu is out of your league.”

Hearing this, Lin Yun’s expression darkened. In a calm voice, he said, ”I’ll ask you one last time. Where is Miss Lu?”

”Oh-ho, so you’ve come to cause trouble, have you? I don’t know! Now get lost, get lost, get lost!” Sensing the anger in Lin Yun’s tone, the Shopkeeper wasn’t the least bit afraid. Instead, he shouted back at him.

The Shopkeeper was a Martial Artist himself, his Cultivation having reached the Eighth Layer of Opening Realm. Facing Lin Yun, who was only at the Fifth Layer of Opening Realm, he was naturally arrogant.

In the next second, however, the Shopkeeper regretted his words. The anger Lin Yun had been forcibly suppressing erupted like a volcano. Without a word, he grabbed the Shopkeeper and hoisted him into the air.

”I will ask you one last time. Which room is Lu Bingning in?” Lin Yun’s tone was now ice-cold.

”Kid, I’m warning you! Let go, or else...” Though he was already being held in mid-air, the Shopkeeper still tried to threaten him. But before he could finish, Lin Yun slapped him across the face.

”You dare hit me? You’re dead, kid! Young Master Tang won’t let you get away with this!” The Shopkeeper’s backer was Tang Wushuang, and the reason for this connection was, naturally, Lu Bingning.

The Shopkeeper helped Tang Wushuang monitor Lu Bingning’s every move, and Tang Wushuang, in turn, became his backer.

Threatening him with Tang Wushuang might have worked on someone else, but it was useless against Lin Yun. A flurry of slaps landed on the Shopkeeper’s face until it was swollen like a pig’s head.

”One last time. Where is Lu Bingning? Don’t speak, and you die.” After more than a dozen slaps, a faint killing intent began to emanate from Lin Yun.

Sensing that Lin Yun was now serious about killing him, the Shopkeeper didn’t dare utter another threat and obediently told him.

As Lin Yun walked into the inn, the Shopkeeper’s expression instantly turned venomous. He scrambled out of the inn, presumably to inform Tang Wushuang.

Arriving at Room A-1, where Lu Bingning was staying, Lin Yun reverted to his true appearance. The plain, unremarkable Lin Shan instantly transformed back into the heroic and dashing Lin Yun.

Without knocking, Lin Yun pushed the door open and walked in. Lu Bingning, who was in the middle of cultivating, sensed the intrusion and called out coldly, ”Who’s there?”

”Weren’t you the one looking for me?” a playful voice asked as Lin Yun’s figure appeared before Lu Bingning.

The moment she saw Lin Yun, Lu Bingning was stunned. But her expression quickly changed to a smile, and she glided delicately to his side.

”So, it’s Eldest Young Master Lin,” Lu Bingning said. ”To what do I owe the honor? Have you finally decided to show your face?”

In contrast to Lu Bingning’s delight, Lin Yun’s face was grim. ”You foolish girl, do you have a death wish? Don’t you know I’m a wanted man?”

Lin Yun was angry that she had been asking around for him; it could have easily exposed his identity.

Faced with a furious Lin Yun, tears instantly welled up on Lu Bingning’s beautiful face. Her voice choked with sobs as she said, ”How could you scold me? Do you have any idea how worried I’ve been about you this whole time you’ve been wanted? Do you know...?”

Lu Bingning’s tear-filled tactic instantly extinguished Lin Yun’s anger. The harsh scolding he had prepared was completely driven from his mind.

Even a hero has a weakness for a beautiful woman’s tears. This was a perfect example. Lin Yun, who had just been about to scold her, found himself consoling her instead.

He comforted her in a gentle voice, ”Bingning, I was just worried about your safety. You know the situation I’m in...”

Lin Yun was utterly defeated. Seeing his gentle expression, Lu Bingning’s tears soon gave way to a smile. The two sat down in the room’s chairs. ”Lin Yun, I’ve really missed you.”

In that moment, Lu Bingning bravely spoke her heart. In truth, back at Iron Gate Pass, the two had already developed feelings for one another; they just hadn’t broken through that final barrier and confessed.

Now, upon their reunion, Lu Bingning was the first to confess her love. Faced with such a charming and alluring woman, it would, of course, be a lie for Lin Yun to say he felt nothing for her.
