Chapter 79: Chapter 79: Vajra Divine Ape

Its roar alone killed over a hundred Opening Realm Martial Artists, and that was while the Golden War Ape was on the brink of death. What in the world was happening?

At this moment, it wasn’t just the Qi Sea Realm Martial Artists; even the two Primordial Ocean Realm experts, Iron Blood and the Blood Refining Ancestor, were terrified. To this beast, the hundreds of people present were likely no different from hundreds of ants.

The crowd stood rooted to the spot, having even forgotten to flee. Lin Yun, however, had hidden off to the side from the very beginning. Concealed in the shadows, he stared at the Golden War Ape before him, his face a mask of horror.

’A Vajra Divine Ape...’ Lin Yun muttered under his breath. He never imagined he would actually see a Vajra Divine Ape on the Celestial Spirit Continent.

Even in the Divine Realm, the Vajra Divine Ape was a top-tier Demon Beast, its name spoken in the same breath as Divine Dragons and Phoenixes. Not even a Main God from the Divine Realm would be a match for an adult Vajra Divine Ape.

’This is bad. Everyone’s going to die.’ The thought of retreat had already taken root in Lin Yun’s mind. This was no longer about some treasure. Forget the Primordial Ocean Realm; even the strongest expert on the entire Celestial Spirit Continent would be no match for this Vajra Divine Ape.

Although this Vajra Divine Ape was at death’s door, if it went berserk, destroying a tiny place like Yanhuang Country would be child’s play.

”Li Tian, run!” With a low shout to Li Tian, Lin Yun turned and bolted into the distance. They couldn’t linger here; it was a veritable Land of Death with no hope of survival.

Once Lin Yun and Li Tian started running, the others finally reacted and began scrambling away. However, the weakened Vajra Divine Ape clearly had no intention of letting them go.

Struggling to its feet, the Vajra Divine Ape gave a seemingly casual wave of its right arm. Instantly, a volley of Wind Blades tore through the bodies of a hundred Martial Artists, including several Qi Sea Realm Martial Artists.

With just a single strike, even Qi Sea Realm Martial Artists were powerless to resist. The sight sent the survivors fleeing for their lives. This wasn’t some treasure; it was a peerless, ferocious beast.

The Blood Refining Ancestor and Iron Blood were the fastest. Using Sky Control to fly, they instantly covered several thousand meters, putting a great distance between themselves and the others. At a time like this, neither of them dared to think about treasure anymore. They would be lucky just to escape with their lives.

ROAR... Another roar echoed out, and dozens more Martial Artists were blasted to death by the sound wave. This was no longer a battle between equals; they were in completely different leagues. Even a Primordial Ocean Realm expert wouldn’t last a single move against the Vajra Divine Ape.

After successively slaughtering several hundred people, fewer than a hundred of the thousand-strong party managed to escape. Those who survived the ordeal didn’t dare look back, running straight for the Mysterious City.

Lin Yun and Li Tian, having been the first to flee, were now at the front of the pack. Suddenly, however, Lin Yun felt a powerful suction force latch onto him.

’This is bad...’ Lin Yun’s heart sank. Being pulled back now would surely lead to a terrible end.

Seeing this, Li Tian’s face changed drastically. He tried to rush forward to help, but a tyrannical blast of air erupted from the Vajra Divine Ape, sending him flying several thousand meters away.

With Li Tian blasted away, Lin Yun had no power to resist at all and was pulled directly toward the Vajra Divine Ape. Witnessing this, the others ran even more desperately, terrified of suffering the same fate as Lin Yun.

”You son of a bitch! Out of all these people, why did you have to pick me?” Lin Yun cursed as he was pulled ever closer to the Divine Ape. ’I was clearly the furthest ahead! Is this stupid ape brain-dead or something? It just had to grab me.’

He soon arrived before the Vajra Divine Ape. Facing the mountain-sized creature, Lin Yun was like a speck of dust—impossibly, utterly minuscule.

However, the Vajra Divine Ape didn’t kill Lin Yun. Instead, its mountain-like body rapidly shrank until the Vajra Divine Ape was the same size as him.

’The hell? What does this mean?’ Lin Yun didn’t understand the Vajra Divine Ape’s actions, but he didn’t dare to let his guard down for even a second. With his current level of strength, a single breath from the creature would be enough to kill him instantly.

Just as Lin Yun was warily on guard, a message transmitted by Divine Thought echoed clearly in his mind.

”Are you from the Divine Realm? Or the Demon Realm?”

Hearing the voice, Lin Yun looked around in confusion, his gaze finally settling on the Vajra Divine Ape. ”Was that you talking to me?”

At Lin Yun’s words, the Vajra Divine Ape gave a human-like nod. The voice from its Divine Thought transmission sounded again. ”You haven’t answered my question. Are you from the Divine Realm, or the Demon Realm?”

”Neither. I’m from the Celestial Spirit Continent,” Lin Yun replied.

Hearing Lin Yun’s answer, a flicker of disappointment showed on the Vajra Divine Ape’s face. Of course, Lin Yun couldn’t possibly tell it about his reincarnation, not even to a Demon Beast.

”If you’re from the Celestial Spirit Continent, then why do you have the aura of the Divine and Demon Realms on you?”

”This...” Lin Yun was stumped. He didn’t know how to respond. ’I can’t just spill all my secrets to this Demon Beast, can I? If it belongs to one of those Divine Kings from the Divine Realm, I’ll be screwed.’

’If anyone from the Divine Realm finds out that the Son of the War God is still alive, they’d probably destroy the entire Celestial Spirit Continent just to get to me.’

Sensing Lin Yun’s difficult position, the Vajra Divine Ape’s voice sounded again. ”You don’t need to be concerned. I have no chance of surviving. I’m only asking these questions because I have a favor to ask of you.”

Hearing this, Lin Yun gave the Vajra Divine Ape a puzzled look. By all accounts, the Vajra Divine Ape is a supreme Demon Beast from the Divine Realm, unafraid to face even the likes of Divine Dragons and Phoenixes.

Who could have beaten this Vajra Divine Ape into such a state?

”Fine. To earn your trust, you can ask your questions first. I’ll answer you,” the Vajra Divine Ape transmitted when Lin Yun remained silent.

”Alright. Then tell me, how did you get beaten into this state? I’m sure no one on the entire Celestial Spirit Continent could be your match, right?” Lin Yun asked his first question.

”Heh. You seem to know a great deal about the Vajra Divine Apes. You’re right. We are an ancient and exceedingly rare type of Demon Beast. Our clan is the only one of its kind in the Divine Realm. And I was beaten into this state by a fellow member of my clan.”

Hearing this, Lin Yun only grew more confused. ’The Vajra Divine Ape population is minuscule, numbering no more than a hundred in the entire Divine Realm. Furthermore, they are an extremely unified clan, and with an intelligence that rivals humans, it’s practically impossible for them to turn on one another.’

”You don’t believe me?” the Vajra Divine Ape asked, seeing the confused look on Lin Yun’s face.

”I don’t,” Lin Yun said seriously. ”If the Vajra Divine Ape clan were in a state of civil war, the entire Divine Realm would be thrown into chaos. Don’t try to fool me. Your people have that kind of power.”

”Let me show you something, and you’ll understand.” Instead of arguing against Lin Yun’s skepticism, the Vajra Divine Ape simply presented a small thing it had been holding cradled to its chest.

One look. It took only a single glance for Lin Yun to be rendered completely speechless... And in his heart, he now understood why it had been cast out by its own clan.
