Reincarnated as a Mosquito, I Sucked the Reborn Empress to Tears

「The next morning.」

Sunlight filtered through the gaps in the curtains, dappling the dormitory floor.

Gu Yuexi slowly opened her eyes. Her long lashes trembled, her cool, clear gaze still holding its usual calm and depth.

She subconsciously turned her head to look at her desk.

There, a tiny black mosquito was sprawled out on the desk, fast asleep, its six legs splayed out.

The moment she saw the mosquito, the coldness in her eyes softened slightly, replaced by a hint of warmth.

She wasn’t sure when it started, but as long as she could see this little guy by her side when she opened her eyes, she would instinctively feel an unprecedented sense of security.

A faint smile touched Gu Yuexi’s lips. She then rose, walked gently to the desk, and scooped up the still soundly-sleeping Chu Sheng.

Seeing that Chu Sheng showed no signs of waking, she expertly opened her jacket and tucked him into the inner pocket, close to her body.

…

After all this, Gu Yuexi quickly washed up, straightened her clothes, and walked out of the dorm room.

As Gu Yuexi walked, she quickly sorted through her upcoming plans in her mind.

’The current situation might seem like a muddy mess, but in my eyes, it’s actually quite clear.’

’First, and most fundamentally, I need to improve my strength.’

’Those three Soul-Eater Spikes were a powerful weapon in my past life. Now that I’ve obtained them early, I must gain complete control over them as soon as possible.’

’Their power can’t compare to the still-sealed Nameless Divine Sword, but for some reason, they’re a perfect fit for me. They are one of the strongest techniques I can currently use.’

’I have to hurry and master the remaining two.’

’Second, there’s the upcoming “Secret Realm Zero” inside Jing University.’

Gu Yuexi narrowed her eyes, recalling the timeline from her past life.

’There are probably two or three months left.’

’I’m determined to get a spot for this Secret Realm. As for the opportunity within, I’ve already promised to give it to that damn mosquito.’

’It’s fine. If the damn mosquito gets it, it’s the same as me getting it myself.’

’In these two or three months, I hope to raise my cultivation level as high as possible before entering the Secret Realm.’

’And finally,’

’…there’s the so-called “Divine Level Secret Realm” and the much-hyped “Divine Son” spot.’

A chill entered Gu Yuexi’s eyes.

’In my past life, this Secret Realm never appeared. Or rather, it hadn’t been discovered before my rebirth.’

’This is the biggest variable in this life.’

’Since it has appeared in this life… while I don’t expect to find any real opportunity for godhood inside, I definitely have to go.’

Along the way, Gu Yuexi’s presence attracted the attention and hushed whispers of many students. After all, she was currently at the center of a storm of public opinion.

Most students at Jing University supported Gu Yuexi and felt she was being wronged, but there were exceptions.

For example…

Just as Gu Yuexi was about to turn a corner, a figure abruptly appeared, blocking her path.

The newcomer was a young woman.

She was very beautiful and had once been a prominent figure at Jing University—

Su Yingxue.

The woman who was once hailed as the “Future Empress,” only to have her pride shattered by Gu Yuexi’s sword.

At this moment, Su Yingxue was still dressed in an exquisite, designer training uniform, but the arrogant aura she once had—the one that suggested the whole world revolved around her—was now completely gone.

In its place was a faint air of decadence and gloom.

She looked at Gu Yuexi, her expression complex.

“Gu Yuexi, how does it feel? Not very pleasant, is it?”

“Back then, you stole my reputation right in front of everyone, snatched the title of ’Future Empress,’ and trampled me underfoot…”

“You must have been so proud of yourself then, right?”

“But look now. What goes around, comes around.”

A mocking smile curved Su Yingxue’s lips:

“Now, someone is coming to take what’s yours.”

“This is your retribution.”

Gu Yuexi frowned slightly, a flicker of pity in her eyes as she looked at Su Yingxue.

’Pathetic.’

’What does she mean, I stole her reputation?’

’In this world, the strong are revered.’

’Blaming her own failures on others “stealing” from her… with that kind of weakling’s mentality, it’s no wonder this is as far as she’ll ever get in this life.’

’I can’t be bothered to waste my breath on someone like her. Every word would be a waste.’

With a flicker of movement, Gu Yuexi walked right past Su Yingxue.

’I’m being ignored!’

’Completely ignored, as if I’m just air!’

The sneer on Su Yingxue’s face froze instantly.

She spun around, gritted her teeth, and shouted:

“Gu Yuexi! How long are you going to keep up this act?!”

“Just give up!”

“You’re not from Kyoto. You don’t know the Energy of the Ten Great Clans.”

“I’m doing this for your own good…”

Her words sounded like a taunt, but upon closer reflection, they were also laced with a helpless surrender to reality.

She had lost, so she accepted her fate. She wanted to see Gu Yuexi accept her fate too, as that would prove her own resignation was the correct choice.

However, Gu Yuexi didn’t even pause her stride.

Her voice, as cold and distant as ancient, unmelted ice, drifted back on the wind, carrying just a few words:

“That won’t be necessary.”

“My path is not for you to understand, nor are you worthy of understanding it.”

Su Yingxue stood frozen in place, her nails digging deep into her palms as she watched the retreating figure.

“Lunatic… You’re a complete lunatic!”

…

「Noon. The cafeteria.」

Gu Yuexi had just finished her meal and was about to head back to her dorm to continue refining the Soul-Eater Spikes.

A somewhat hurried figure appeared at the cafeteria entrance and walked straight toward her.

It was the vice-principal of Jing University, the one in charge of administration.

The old man, usually stern and dignified, now had a look of unconcealed anxiety and apology on his face.

“Gu.”

The vice-principal walked up to her and lowered his voice.

“Someone from the Education Bureau… is here.”

“They’re asking to see you by name. They’re in the top-floor conference room of the Academic Affairs Office.”

Gu Yuexi nodded calmly. “Understood.”

It was as if she had expected this all along.

“Let’s go together,” the vice-principal sighed.

Gu Yuexi did not refuse.

The two of them walked toward the Academic Affairs Office building, one after the other.

Along the way, the vice-principal started to speak several times but hesitated. Finally, just as they were about to enter the elevator, he couldn’t hold back any longer:

“Gu, no matter what you hear in a moment, you must remain calm.”

“The university… has actually been trying its best to fight for you.”

Gu Yuexi nodded without saying a word.

…

「Academic Affairs Office, top-floor conference room.」

This was Jing University’s most prestigious reception area, normally opened only for receiving important dignitaries.

The heavy mahogany doors were shut tight.

Before the massive floor-to-ceiling windows stood an old man in a tunic suit, his hands clasped behind his back.

Hearing the door open, the old man did not turn around immediately. He continued to gaze at the campus scenery outside for several long seconds before slowly turning.

“Gu, I’ll leave you to talk.”

After bringing her there, the vice-principal gave Gu Yuexi a deep look:

“Don’t be afraid. As long as you’re on the Jing University campus, the school will always have your back.”

“Everything depends on your own choice.”

With that, he backed out of the room and gently closed the door behind him.
