Chapter 175: Chapter 175: A Cockroach Can Write? New Roach Battle Treasure Has Fans

New Roach Battle Treasure—Top-Grade Three Stars!!!

“New Roach Battle Treasure? What the hell is that?”

“I clearly registered my Xiaobai’s name as White Nether Spirit Fox!”

“Wait a minute, how did my Xiaobai drop to second place?!”

Wang Nan cried out as she stared at the leaderboard.

The staff members were also completely baffled. Before the challenge, every Contracted Beast’s name had to be registered. This was typically done by the owner. In the rare instance that a Contracted Beast came on its own, a staff member would help register it using its species name.

’But… what the fuck is this “New Roach Battle Treasure,” and where the hell did it come from?’

’And it’s a Top-Grade Three Stars, no less? Impossible!’

’What on earth is going on?!’

Just as everyone was wondering what was going on, a young female teacher raised her hand.

This teacher was one of the staff members. She held up a registration form and said, a little frightened:

“I… I know which Contracted Beast this New Roach Battle Treasure is. It’s… that giant cockroach.”

“That giant cockroach handed me this registration form a moment ago. The name written on it is… New Roach Battle Treasure.”

“While you all were cheering, that giant cockroach had already crawled into the Spirit Rhinoceros Resonance Chamber.”

After the teacher finished speaking, everyone stared at her with faces of pure bewilderment.

’A cockroach… submitted its own registration form? And went into the Spirit Rhinoceros Resonance Chamber on its own?’

They turned to look, and sure enough, the giant cockroach from before was gone. But this was just too mind-boggling!

Wang Nan was the first to refuse to believe it, assuming it was a setup. She said angrily,

“Ma’am, do you even hear what you’re saying?”

“How could a cockroach possibly fill out a registration form by itself and then hand it to you?”

Her question echoed what everyone was thinking. Even a Demon Beast with Top-Grade Spiritual Wisdom rarely knew how to read, let alone write. It wasn’t that they couldn’t learn; there was just no reason for them to.

The image of a cockroach filling out its own registration form was truly difficult to fathom!

The young teacher’s face flushed as everyone stared at her. She gritted her teeth and said,

“I don’t know how it filled it out! It should be out any second, so you can ask it yourselves!”

Just then, the Spirit Rhinoceros Resonance Chamber lit up.

The chamber door opened, and Chu Sheng crawled out. ’Holy shit, why is everyone staring at me?’

A staff member took the form and approached Chu Sheng.

“Excuse me, this… Cockroach Demon Beast… did you write this registration form? Is this your name on it?”

It was the first time he’d ever spoken to a giant cockroach, and the staff member was incredibly uncomfortable… But he had no choice but to bite the bullet and ask.

Chu Sheng nodded his giant cockroach head.

Wang Nan said indignantly,

“I don’t believe it! You’re just a cockroach. Even if you’re a little clever, there’s no way you can actually write.”

“Besides, the leaderboard says you’re a Top-Grade Three Stars! That’s even more impossible!”

“So, either your machine is broken or this is a setup! Seriously, if you can’t run a proper competition, then you shouldn’t run one at all!”

Wang Nan had been sure she’d taken first place. With the Ninth-Grade Essence Blood, she could have bolstered her White Nether Spirit Fox’s weak combat abilities. Combined with its Top-Grade Spiritual Wisdom, her own strength would have increased tremendously.

But now, she’d been cheated out of her victory by a cockroach. How could she not be furious?!

’A setup?’

Chu Sheng glanced at his surroundings and immediately understood what was happening.

’In fact, this Top-Grade Three Stars result was because I was deliberately playing dumb during the test. After all, last time I tested as Five Stars, a whole bunch of people wanted to study me. It was such a pain.’

’I didn’t think they’d have such a huge reaction to a Top-Grade Three Stars result.’

He chuckled, then had the New Roach Battle Treasure “stand” up and take the registration form from the staff member’s hands…

“Holy crap, what’s the giant cockroach doing? Is it actually going to write?”

“I’m so fucking glad I came today!”

“No way. If a cockroach can write, I’ll eat a ton of Black-backed Giant Rhinoceros shit right here and now!”

The Spiritual Wisdom Challenge Area had come to a standstill. A crowd gathered around Chu Sheng, the giant cockroach, waiting to see what it would do!

Chu Sheng grabbed the registration form with his forelimbs and flipped it over to the back.

Then, a pen suddenly flew off the work table, seemingly of its own accord. It hovered in front of the paper and began to write, one stroke at a time:

“You dare… to question… this roach?”

The handwriting was a bit crooked, but the words were perfectly clear.

The surrounding students watched the scene unfold, glanced at one another, and then suddenly burst into thunderous cheers:

“OH!!!!!”

The impact of seeing a cockroach that could write with their own eyes was far more direct than just seeing a Top-Grade Five Stars result on a screen!

「Meanwhile, in the Attack Power Challenge Area next door:」

“Hey, what’s all the commotion over in the Spiritual Wisdom Area?”

“No idea. Looks like they’re crowded around watching a cockroach write?”

“Huh? Are they morons or something…?”

…

「Spiritual Wisdom Challenge Area.」

Wang Nan, who had just been accusing them of a setup, was completely stunned.

’So this giant cockroach really can read, and it even knows how to use Spiritual Telekinesis! To be able to use Spiritual Telekinesis with enough fine control to write… that means its Mental Power is quite high.’

’Although almost all the students at Hong Kong Island University specialized in Mental Power, most of their Contracted Beasts focused on cultivating Qi Blood. A Contracted Beast that also cultivated Mental Power was incredibly rare.’

’So, it all made sense now.’

’This was a giant Cockroach Demon Beast that specialized in Mental Power and knew how to read and write! What kind of eccentric Beast Tamer could have possibly raised such a heaven-defying Contracted Beast?!’

’But the most important point was this: its Top-Grade Three Stars Spiritual Wisdom was real!’

’Top-Grade Three Stars Spiritual Wisdom! The entire Beast Taming Academy had never seen a Spirit Beast with such unbelievable intelligence. Even though it was a cockroach, it still had immense potential!’

“So, does anyone else… object?”

Under Chu Sheng’s control, the pen once again wrote five words on the registration form.

The staff member hurriedly shook his head and said,

“No! No, it was our mistake. May I ask, which of our academy’s students is your Tamer?”

More words appeared on the form:

“Se…cret…”

“Ask again after this roach has finished the other events!”

With that written, Chu Sheng took flight and headed toward the nearby Attack Power Challenge Area.

“What? That cockroach is going to compete in the other events, too?”

“But even if it’s smart, it’s still just a cockroach. I can tell the Qi Blood fluctuations coming from it are only around the Second-Grade.”

“Maybe it’s going to compete in the Mental Power event!”

“Let’s go, follow it! I think I’m starting to like this cockroach, especially that subtle air of coolness it has…”

“Same here!”

A number of students, their curiosity piqued by Chu Sheng, the giant cockroach, hurried to follow him. Some even took out their phones to snap pictures and post them on the Hong Kong University forums:

“SHOCKING! Giant Cockroach Appears at the Challenge, Aims to Sweep First Place in All Seven Events!”

“New Roach Battle Treasure: The Smartest Demon Beast on Hong Kong Island!”
