Chapter 927: Chapter 927: She Wasn’t Happy at All on Her Eighteenth Birthday

Daisy Grant stood at the entrance of the party in her dress, waiting eagerly for Dawn Sutherland to arrive. Guests arrived one after another, but Dawn never came.

Later, Aidan Sutherland from the Sutherland Family came, and Daisy thought Dawn would come along, but he didn’t.

Aidan introduced her to the young gentlemen and ladies at the party. She accompanied Aidan, maintaining her elegant and ladylike demeanor, as they mingled with the guests.

She wore an elegant smile on her face, but only she knew that on her eighteenth birthday, she wasn’t happy at all because her second brother hadn’t come.

She wanted to spend her coming-of-age ceremony with her second brother, but he didn’t come.

The entire party was crowded and lively, yet standing amidst the crowd, Daisy felt lonely and without joy. She couldn’t wait for the party to end!

Halfway through the party, it began to rain heavily, as if the heavens had heard her inner voice. The party couldn’t continue, and the guests dispersed, leaving only family to direct the servants in cleaning everything up.

Daisy wore a light blue evening dress and stood with an umbrella at the Grant Family’s doorstep, gazing into the distance through the rain.

”Second brother, it’s my birthday today, are you not coming?” Daisy stood in the rain, her eyes red.

A Grant Family servant, concerned that Daisy might catch a cold because of the heavy rain, came to advise her: ”Miss, what are you looking at? It’s raining so heavily, please go back inside. It’s your birthday today, soon it will be time to light the birthday candles.”

Disappointed, Daisy looked into the rain-drenched distance, saw no hope, and turned back towards home.

Back home, she remembered her eighteenth coming-of-age celebration, took a guest champagne bottle, and gulped half of it down, then took out a blue envelope from her small purse, mumbling in a slightly raspy voice: ”Didn’t even get the chance to send it. Indeed, unrequited love only brings hurt. No good outcome! Second brother didn’t even come to my birthday, how could he like me! Sending it would only mean rejection! Daisy Grant, you’re not outstanding, how could second brother possibly like you!”

As she spoke, Daisy’s eyes reddened further.

The Grant Family members were all busy tidying up the party, and no one noticed her current disheveled state. Daisy wiped her tears, but they continued to flow.

Just as her tears flowed heavily, a soaking wet Dawn Sutherland appeared in her sight. Daisy’s eyes instantly brightened as she looked at Dawn approaching, ”Second brother.”

Dawn reached out a hand, his voice mature and sincere: ”Crying over a birthday, how will you get married in the future!”

Seeing Dawn, Daisy laughed through her tears. It was late, but she was still happy, ”Second brother, if I can’t get married, you shouldn’t either, take care of me forever!”

”No way! I strive so hard just to marry someone!” Dawn looked at Daisy with an exceptionally serious gaze.

Daisy’s smile froze for a moment, she responded with a low voice.

”I came late. Oh, I didn’t have time to prepare a birthday gift. What do you want now, I’ll buy it for you!”

”A rose... cake.” Daisy blurted out, seeing Dawn furrow his brow slightly, she immediately chuckled and changed her request.

”Alright! Wait for me!” After saying this, Dawn dashed out of the Grant Family’s house, into the curtain of rain.

”Second brother, don’t go, the rain is so heavy! Take an umbrella before you go! Second brother! Aren’t you going to stay and help me cut the cake?” Daisy called out, but her voice grew quieter and quieter, until a faint bitterness graced the corner of her mouth as she watched Dawn’s distant silhouette and murmured as if to herself: ”It’s almost midnight, second brother, my birthday is nearly over...”
