Chapter 914: Chapter 914: Sorry, President Sutherland

Daisy Grant felt a coldness spread throughout her body, as if her whole bloodstream had frozen, leaving her face ashen.

”The Sutherland Family now believes that I married my second brother just to give the child in my belly a legitimate reason to be born. They think I chose to marry my second brother for the reputation of the Grant Family. If Aidan Sutherland and the Sutherland Family knew this child is actually my second brother’s, Aidan would probably resent him and take the opportunity to suppress him, branding him as seducing his sister-in-law, and my second brother’s reputation would likely really be ruined...”

Daisy Grant was icy cold all over, her lips trembling slightly.

”Currently, Aidan doesn’t dare label my second brother because he hasn’t caught any evidence against him. It’s also because I have kept my mouth shut about who the child’s father is, and the Sutherland Family doesn’t dare to completely fall out with the Grant Family, so they’re not pushing me into a corner...”

Daisy Grant let out a heavy sigh, these matters pressed down on her like an invisible mountain, making it hard to breathe. She tread carefully, not daring to easily reveal this secret.

Daisy Grant bought an umbrella from a small shop and walked into the heavy snow, her icy fingertips slowly caressing her abdomen, her gaze cold yet determined.

”Baby, you might never have the chance to call my second brother ’Daddy’ in this lifetime, and once you’re born, you won’t be able to take your father’s surname, so don’t blame Mommy. Others don’t know how hard it’s been for my second brother to get here, but I know. Anyway, I have nothing left, losing more is just like this. As long as we’re fine, mother and son, we won’t cause your father any trouble.”

When Daisy Grant returned to C.Y Company, it was already lunchtime.

All the colleagues in the General Office had gone for lunch. Daisy went back to her seat with the takeout she bought on the way, opened her computer, and began working on the tasks she hadn’t finished in the morning.

Dawn Sutherland, finishing his tasks in the office, glanced at his wristwatch, it was lunchtime. He tidied up the documents on his desk and handed them to his secretary, Sam Brown, and asked lightly, ”Have all the assistants gone down for lunch?”

Sam Brown nodded, ”Yes. President Sutherland, shall we go down for lunch too?”

Dawn Sutherland furrowed his brows slightly, ”Did the new arrival, Daisy Grant, say what she was going to do when she requested leave this morning?”

Sam Brown glanced at his boss, a smile on his lips, ”Assistant Grant didn’t say what she was going to do, but she seemed to leave in a hurry, probably for something important. President Sutherland, do you want me to call her back to her post?”

”No need, let’s just go have lunch.” Dawn said, leading the way out.

Sam Brown followed him, smiling.

As Dawn Sutherland stepped out of the office, his gaze fell on the person sitting in the assistants’ office area. When he saw the takeout placed on the desk, his eyes darkened, and he strode over to her.

Daisy Grant was working on reviewing some forms, occasionally furrowing her brows at the tediousness. The rice noodles she had bought had long gone cold, but she didn’t notice. She held the noodles, eyes never leaving the computer screen, bringing it to her mouth to eat.

Seeing this, Dawn Sutherland furrowed his brows even more. As she was about to put the food in her mouth, his long fingers reached out and snatched the takeout from her hand and handed it to Sam Brown behind him.

Sam Brown immediately turned around and threw it in the trash.

Having her food taken away, Daisy Grant immediately looked up. Seeing it was Dawn Sutherland, she stood up. His gaze was somewhat intense, and Daisy Grant quickly lowered her eyes and nervously said, ”Se... no—President Sutherland. Sorry, President Sutherland, I took half a day off this morning. I’ll finish the unfinished work right now.”

Just as Daisy Grant finished speaking, Dawn Sutherland’s gaze shifted further, deepening.
