Chapter 173: Chapter 173: The Ten-Year Promise Has Not Yet Expired, But I Have Returned...

-----------Eight years later in reality, a dividing line------Friendly reminder[If you don’t remember the connection to reality, please jump back to the Chapter titled: Arlo and Ariel’s Youth{1}]-------------------------

The villa in Royal View City.

Ariel Morris stood at Arlo Seys’ door, recalling the scenes from eight years ago, especially the one where she lay in the snow outside Dublin Airport. Even with the span of eight years, thinking about it now, she still felt chilled to the bone.

On a snowy deep night, she stood alone in an unfamiliar foreign land, lost consciousness, and fainted. Thinking back to that scene now, she’s really thankful that she can stand here safely, back in City C, and meet Arlo Seys again.

Eight years ago at Dublin Airport, she almost died there.....

Ariel Morris looked at the tightly closed door, pressed her lips together, and her voice carried a slight nasal tone, ”Arlo, the ten-year promise hasn’t arrived, but now I’m back.”

Inside the room, Arlo Seys heard her words, and the hand holding the wine glass suddenly trembled. With a snap, the wine glass shattered on the ground, scattering glass schrapnel everywhere.

The ten-year promise was a commitment he made to her. He once said that if Ariel Morris left him, he would willingly wait for her for ten years.

”Arlo!” Hearing the sudden explosive sound from inside, Ariel Morris raised her hand and pounded on the door anxiously, saying, ”Arlo, could you open the door? Can’t we talk properly?”

Arlo Seys laughed coldly, ”Ariel Morris, do you think I’d be foolish enough to fall for the same trap twice?!”

Outside the door, Ariel Morris was stunned, ”Arlo Seys, can’t you tell if I’m genuinely in love with you or just using you? Why are you unwilling to believe it!”

”I’m unwilling to believe you?” Arlo Seys snorted coldly, ”Ariel Morris, has eight years made you forget what you did back then? Has eight years made you forget how heartless you were?”

Ariel Morris leaned against the door, struggling to speak, a bitterness in her voice, ”So, you just won’t forgive my silent departure, right? Even if I have unspeakable reasons, you don’t want to hear them, do you?”

The door suddenly opened, and Ariel Morris, who was leaning against it, nearly stumbled.

She pressed her lips together, looking in surprise at the person who appeared in front of her. When she saw Arlo Seys’ cold expression, Ariel Morris called out hoarsely, ”Arlo Seys.”

Arlo Seys looked at her, a mocking smile on his lips, his tone icy as frost, ”Ariel Morris, you say you have your reasons, but for your so-called reasons, you buried our love! If love is so worthless in your eyes, why did you come back? Why would you appear in front of me?!”

Ariel Morris pressed her lips together, a faint mist in her eyes, her voice subdued as she spoke, ”Because I remember the ten-year promise Arlo Seys made to me.”

”Ten-year promise?” Arlo Seys laughed mockingly, ”That promise was for the Ariel Morris who loved me, not for the Young Miss Morris who used me and then disappeared! Young Miss Morris—you don’t deserve for me to wait ten years for you!”

Back then, he made a sincere ten-year promise to the girl he liked. But little did he know, his deep feelings turned into a calculated plan.

The five words ”Young Miss Morris” were like a sharp knife, stabbing Ariel Morris with such pain that she could hardly stand. She bit her lip, leaning against the side of the door to support herself.

”Ariel Morris, eight years ago, you were pristine, so you were worth something. But the you of eight years later, both mind and body are unclean, I don’t even have the interest to sleep with you, what leverage do you have to make me agree to cooperate with the Morris Clan? Do I have to pay a debt again just because I slept with you eight years ago? The worth of Young Miss Morris is virtually the highest among City C’s high society socialites!”
