Chapter 167: Chapter 167 An Unforgettable Birthday [3]

Two sobs escaped, and Ariel Morris’s tears couldn’t help but fall steadily.

All those interrupted thoughts suddenly connected.

She finally understood, this was a trap.

A trap aimed at manipulating Arlo Seys.

Arlo Seys looked at the person lying on the bed, quickly rushed over, his voice frantic and urgent: ”Ariel... what happened?”

Ariel bit her lip, desperately holding back the urge to cry out, shook her head forcefully, while her tears flowed silently yet fiercely.

”Tell me, Ariel!”

Her silent, enduring tears triggered a sharp pain in Arlo Seys’s heart. He leaned down and gently kissed her cheek.

”Tell me, what’s wrong?!” Arlo Seys asked again, his voice carrying a slight hint of anger.

Her tears seemed to fall silently on his heart, stirring tenderness and pity within him.

Ariel suppressed the desolation in her heart and also restrained the increasingly uncontrollable wicked fire.

She bit her lip hard, the faint taste of blood spreading between her teeth, bringing her a bit of clarity, before she used all her strength to say three words: ”Arlo—leave!”

Arlo Seys saw her refined features reflected in his eyes, only then realizing something was wrong with her.

Beads of sweat dotted her forehead, her gaze was dreamy, her lips and teeth slightly trembling...

”Arlo...” Ariel bit down hard on her lip, her voice quivering as she called out.

Arlo Seys gazed intently, instantly reached out to lift the blanket, and saw Ariel Morris lying on the bed, her body trembling...

Arlo Seys’s eyes swept over Ariel Morris from head to toe—

He noticed her fingers clenched tightly into fists at her sides, her hand veins clearly visible, showing she was exerting tremendous effort to suppress something.

Fearing she might hurt herself, Arlo Seys bent down, gently tapped her hand, his voice tender and filled with concern, ”Ariel, let go, you’re going to hurt your own palm!”

Arlo Seys’s fingers were cool to the touch, covering Ariel Morris’s burning hand with a wave of coolness, Ariel felt the wickedness within her about to lose control, wanting Arlo’s coolness to extinguish her fire.

After struggling for a few seconds, the last shred of rationality held that fire in check.

But because of her more intense suppression, Ariel drove her nails deeper into her palm, and only the pain could preserve the last bit of clarity.

”Ariel, let go!” Seeing her still clawing into her palm, Arlo Seys slightly angered, reached out, and forcibly pried open her fingers one by one.

Her taut fingers gradually loosened, breaking open to reveal her nails embedded in her palm.

Ariel’s palm, scarred by her own hand...

Arlo Seys’s pupils contracted, looking at the bloodstains, his eyes burst out with a chilling cold light!

Through that intimate contact with her palm, he finally realized the abnormal heat on Ariel’s body.

Arlo Seys’s deep eyes paused, his gaze fell on her flushed cheek for a moment before he spoke in a deep voice: ”You’ve been drugged.”

It wasn’t a question but a statement.

No wonder her eyes were dazed, no wonder she was suppressing to the point of shaking all over...

As the tears slid down, Ariel Morris lightly nodded her head, looking at Arlo Seys, choked with emotion, ”Arlo... why did you come?”

Don’t you know this was a trap set for you?

Arlo Seys immediately tore off his scarf and took off his jacket.

While pressing his thin lips together, he replied to her, ”I was about to leave for the barbeque place we agreed on when I received your message saying something happened to you in room 521 of the Imperial Garden Hotel. How could I not come!”
