Role Stealer: The Script Executioner

The Ronin’s blue flame katana clashed against Sunbringer, sending a shockwave of cold data through Kai’s arms. The underground chamber groaned under the pressure, the iron walls buckling as the two narrative forces collided.

You’re fast, Ronin, Kai grit his teeth, his eyes glowing red. But you’re fighting for a Master who already deleted you once. Doesn’t that sting?

The Ronin’s electronic voice hummed with a hollow resonance. Loyalty is the only thing that survives the Void, Glitch. The Publisher promised me a Sequel. All I have to do is erase you.

Suddenly, the air above them shattered like glass. Two more figures descended through the breach, landing with a heavy thud that cracked the floor.

One was a woman in tattered, futuristic robes, her eyes replaced by glowing violet lenses. Floating around her were dozens of crystalline shards, each one humming with a different frequency of magic.

[Entity: Sorceress of the Canceled Future - Level 62.]

The other was a massive brute, his skin covered in rusted metal plates that seemed to be fused to his flesh. He carried a jagged axe that looked like it had been torn from a mountain of scrap metal.

[Entity: Berserker of the Deleted Realm - Level 65.]

Three of them? Leo shouted, raising his orange shield as a barrage of violet shards slammed into it. Kai, we’re outgunned!

Clara stood back to back with Leo, her silver rod spinning rapidly. I’ll handle the Sorceress! Leo, keep that big guy busy!

The Berserker roared, a sound that felt like a corrupted audio file. He swung his massive axe, a wave of red, jagged energy tearing through the floor toward Leo.

Leo grunted, his feet skidding back as he caught the blow on his shield. He’s... he’s stronger than Valerius!

Kai, watch out! Clara screamed.

The Sorceress pointed a finger at Kai. Chrono-Lock: Frame Freeze!

Kai felt his body stiffen. The air around him turned into solid blocks of time. He was frozen mid-swing, his crimson blade inches away from the Ronin’s neck. The Ronin didn’t hesitate; he raised his blue katana for a killing blow.

[Alert: You are being ’Static-Locked’!]

[Current Screen Time: 835 Hours -> 785 Hours.]

Narrative Authority: Scene Skip! Kai roared in his mind.

The world flickered. One moment the Ronin’s blade was at Kai’s throat, the next, Kai was standing ten feet away, breathing hard. The ’Static-Lock’ had been bypassed, but the cost was visible in the way Kai’s hands were trembling.

You can’t skip forever, the Sorceress said, her violet lenses glowing brighter. I have a thousand years of canceled history to draw from. You’re just one man trying to rewrite a single Chapter.

I’m not trying to rewrite a Chapter, Kai said, his voice dropping to a dangerous whisper. I’m trying to burn the library.

He lunged at the Sorceress, but the Ronin intercepted him, their blades meeting in a flurry of sparks. Meanwhile, the Berserker was relentlessly hammering at Leo’s shield. Each blow was cracking the orange light, the data-hexagons flickering and disappearing.

Leo! Hold on! Clara shouted, sending a beam of silver energy at the Berserker’s head.

The brute didn’t even flinch. The silver beam hit his rusted armor and simply dissipated. He turned his dead, grey eyes toward Clara and raised his axe.

[Berserker Skill: Narrative Overrun.]

The axe began to grow, its size doubling as it absorbed the surrounding shadows. He brought it down with a force that threatened to collapse the entire Under-Script chamber.

Kai saw it happening. He saw Leo and Clara about to be crushed under the weight of a ’Deleted Realm.’

Patch! Get them out of there! Kai shouted.

The girl in the camouflage cloak appeared out of nowhere, grabbing Leo and Clara and dragging them into a hidden maintenance tunnel just as the axe hit the ground. The explosion was massive, turning the center of the chamber into a crater of iron and dust.

Kai was alone now, surrounded by the three Beta-Testers. The Ronin, the Sorceress, and the Berserker closed in, their presence creating a triangle of narrative suppression that made Kai’s red blade flicker.

Is this the best the Publisher has? Kai asked, wiping blood from his lip. A bunch of losers from failed stories?

We are the survivors! the Sorceress hissed. We did what we had to do to stay in the memory! You... you are just a mistake that thinks it’s a miracle!

She raised both hands, the crystalline shards around her forming a complex geometric pattern. Forbidden Spell: The Final Deletion!

The air inside the triangle began to turn white—the same absolute white Kai had seen in the Architect’s void. The floor was vanishing. The air was vanishing. Kai was being erased in real-time.

[Warning: Total Deletion in progress!]

[Current Screen Time: 785 Hours -> 500 Hours.]

The loss of time was agonizing. Kai felt his memories slipping away—the face of his mother, the name of the scout camp, the feeling of the sun on his skin. He was becoming a blank page.

You want a miracle? Kai wheezed, his eyes turning a blinding, incandescent red. I’ll give you a catastrophe.

He didn’t use Sunbringer. He didn’t use Narrative Authority. He reached into his own soul and grabbed the ’Rebellion Genre’ energy he had just created.

Genre Overload: The Glitch King’s Wrath!

The white void didn’t just break; it exploded into a million neon-orange fragments. The energy didn’t come from the world; it came from the Audience. Above, the data-stars in the dark purple sky began to fall, turning into streaks of orange fire that slammed into the Under-Script chamber.

[Audience Reaction: Insane! ”KAI IS GOING SUPERNOVA!” / ”KILL THE BETA-TESTERS!” / ”ALL IN ON THE REBELLION!”]

The Ronin was the first to be hit. The orange fire tore through his blue flames, unravelling his samurai armor like thread. He screamed—a sound of pure, unedited agony—before dissolving into a cloud of smoke.

The Sorceress tried to shield herself with her shards, but the orange energy was too chaotic, too unwritten for her logic to handle. Her violet lenses shattered, and she was thrown back into the darkness, her form flickering into nothingness.

The Berserker was the last one standing. He raised his axe, trying to absorb the orange fire, but his rusted armor began to melt. He looked at Kai, his dead eyes finally showing a spark of fear.

Why... why can you do this? the Berserker groaned.

Because I don’t care about the Sequel, Kai said, walking toward him through the flames. I only care about the now.

Kai swung Sunbringer. The crimson blade didn’t just cut the Berserker; it rewrote him. The brute’s massive form shrunk, his rusted armor turning into simple, harmless scrap metal. He fell to his knees, a regular man once more, before vanishing into pixels.

Kai stood in the center of the ruined chamber, his chest heaving, his body covered in orange sparks. His Screen Time meter was flashing red.

[Current Screen Time: 450 Hours.]

He had won, but he was dying. The cost of the Genre Overload was massive.

Patch, Leo, and Clara emerged from the tunnel, their faces filled with awe and terror. They looked at the destruction, then at Kai, who looked more like a god of chaos than a hero.

Kai... you’re... you’re glowing, Leo whispered.

It’s just the ink, Kai said, his voice sounding like a thousand people talking at once. It’s just the ink trying to find a place to stay.

Patch looked at the screen on the wall. The ratings had hit the ceiling. The Publisher couldn’t ignore them now.

”The Spire is opening,” Patch said, pointing to the glowing tower in the distance. ”The Publisher is calling for a ’Negotiation.’ He’s inviting you to the Top Floor.”

”It’s a trap,” Clara said, her hand tightening on her silver rod.

”Of course it’s a trap,” Kai said, his red eyes fixed on the tower. ”But it’s the only place where the pen is kept. And I’m going to take it from him.”

He looked at his friends, his expression softening for just a moment.

”Act Three,” Kai said. ”The Finale starts now.”
