Super Gene Hunting Ground

Six months ago, the War God of the Great Dragon Empire led everyone in seizing the territory of the Pegasus Empire on Purple Origin Star, and then returned to Witch Star.

Long Yue became the Sect Leader of this new region, but at that time there was a shortage of military forces, so all the mercenaries from Karachi City were temporarily drafted.

Hiring a Mercenary Army is very costly, one million Crystal Coins per person per day.

Out of urgent need, Long Yue brought over all five hundred mercenaries from Karachi City, but as time passed, the expenses became enormous.

Six months later, Long Yue transferred one thousand Elite Soldiers from Witch Star to take over the defense from the Mercenary Army.

These mercenaries then returned to Karachi City.

Mercenaries belong to a profession where they risk their lives. In Karachi City, mercenaries cannot participate in disputes over mining fields, but their only role is to assist mine owners in opening up new territories and dealing with Demon Beasts and savages around the mining bases.

The captain of the Mercenary Army is named Tang Qian.

The private mine owners elected three representatives, who together approached Tang Qian.

”Captain Tang, we have a business proposition for which we’d like your assistance.”

Tang Qian chuckled and said,

”Going to Wildman Valley to kill Demon Beasts?”

”Captain Tang truly is a God, spot on with your guess.”

”Hehe, was that even something to guess? Who in Karachi City doesn’t know that more than a hundred mines were destroyed overnight?”

”Captain Tang, here’s a deposit of ten billion Crystal Coins, we’d like to hire you and your men to hunt down the Demon Beasts there and reopen our mines.”

A middle-aged man named Kai Qi placed a Black Gold Card in front of Tang Qian.

Kai Qi had opened five mines in the Primitive Forest and suffered heavy losses.

Tang Qian picked up the Black Gold Card, caressed it with his hand, and sighed,

”Crystal Coins are really damn good things, for them, many have paid the price with their lives.”

After saying this, he handed the Black Gold Card back to Kai Qi.

”Captain Tang, you?”

”I’m sorry, gentlemen, this deal is too risky, we can’t take it.”

”Captain Tang, what do you mean?”

”I’ve looked into it, those monsters that killed thousands of people from more than a hundred mines overnight are extraordinarily powerful. More importantly, these monsters are being commanded by someone,

a single monster is not frightening, but what’s terrifying is someone who can organize these normally scattered Demon Beasts,

just imagine, tens of thousands of different monsters from the Primitive Forest forming an army, what kind of scene would that be?”

”Ah?”

Kai Qi and his two companions stared at Tang Qian, not knowing what to say.

”Captain Tang, is it a matter of price, you, name your price?”

As a businessman, Kai Qi naturally knows there is no deal that can’t be made, just a price that can’t be agreed upon.

Tang Qian chuckled and said,

”Gentlemen, it’s not that I, Tang, am hiking the price unreasonably, but this deal is genuinely perilous, if things go badly, our whole Mercenary Army could be wiped out, I really dare not take it!”

”Captain Tang, I know, this time it’s indeed not like before, let’s do this, you name a price, and we’ll consider it, if it works, we’ll make a deal.”

”Boss Kai is straightforward!”

Tang Qian chuckled without putting on airs, and said,

”If I were to take this job, I’d need to deploy all five hundred mercenaries, the previous rate was one million Crystal Coins per person per day, this time it’ll be three times that, three million Crystal Coins, so fifteen billion Crystal Coins a day, you’ll need to prepare at least a hundred billion in the Black Gold Card before I’ll take your job.”

”Ah? Three times?”

Even though Kai Qi and the others were prepared, they were still shocked.

After all, deploying five hundred people in one go, at a price of 1.5 billion Crystal Coins per day, is not a small amount.

”Captain Tang, can we reduce the number a bit? We suffered quite a loss this time, and everyone is in difficulty right now.”

”Boss Kai, this mission is extremely dangerous. My brothers are literally playing with their lives. Think about it, over a hundred mining sites. The initial investment has already exceeded 200 billion. And now asking you to pay 10 billion, do you still feel like you’re at a loss?”

Tang Qian was confident that Kai Qi and the others couldn’t refuse this price.

The three, Kai Qi, exchanged glances, gritted their teeth, and said:

”Alright, Captain Tang, we’ll pool our resources by hook or by crook, but there’s one issue I want to know about—how long do you plan to exterminate the Demon Beasts in the Primitive Forest? 1.5 billion a day, we can’t afford to drag this out!”

Tang Qian waved his hand grandly and said:

”Rest assured, I’ve always been fair in business. This time, excluding heavenly calculations, it’s a flat rate of 10 billion Crystal Coins,

it’s on me to defeat the Demon Beasts attacking you. I can’t guarantee the elimination of all Demon Beasts, but I will slash their main force, preventing them from threatening your future production.

Of course, you’ll have to quickly apply for a Genetic Store and prepare your own Guard Team to handle the everyday smaller-scale Demon Beast attacks.”

Upon hearing this, Kai Qi immediately clasped his fists and said:

”Captain Tang is indeed straightforward. I represent all the members to accept this, but please, Captain Tang, make sure you are fully prepared, those Demon Beasts are not ordinary.”

Tang Qian smiled faintly and said:

”Rest assured, if I dared to take this job, naturally I have ways to deal with those Demon Beasts. Don’t forget what we do?

We are the Mercenary Army, specialized in fighting monsters for decades, quality guaranteed, no deception whether for old or young!”

The three of them Kai Qi thanked him repeatedly and, after returning home, gathered all the mine owners—over a hundred of them, each contributing one billion Crystal Coins.

They had no choice; having invested hundreds of millions, even over a billion, they couldn’t care less about investing another billion.

The three, Kai Qi, then went to the Genetic Store Headquarters and found Gustone.

Representing these hundred plus mine owners who also mined in other regions, they were considered a large collective customer of the Genetic Store.

Gustone came down from the second floor to meet the three.

After the pleasantries, Kai Qi said:

”Lord Gustone, I applied for a Genetic Store three months ago with you, and you said it would take half a year. Look, without the Defense Light Screen from the Genetic Store, we suffered devastating losses this time, over a hundred mining bases destroyed, thousands dead, it’s truly tragic.”

While saying this, Kai Qi shed two tears.

He knew that in front of Gustone, he could only show weakness and couldn’t forcefully demand anything.

Gustone could only put on a helpless expression and sighed:

”Ah, Boss Kai, as you know, recently, the new sectors controlled by Long Yue have seen a lot of new mines, and the Genetic Stores really can’t meet the demand.

We’ve already applied with headquarters, and estimate that a few more batches of personnel and materials will arrive soon. Wait another six months or so, and it should be about right.”

”Another six months?”

”Ah, what can we do? There are still hundreds of Genetic Stores yet to be established in the Long Yue sector. Without people reassigned from above, what can I offer you?”

Gustone made his intentions known based on a previous agreement with Yang Xiao, giving Yang Xiao ten months of support.

Kai Qi and others, having no choice, left disappointedly.

”What now? Do we wait another six months before letting the Mercenary Army commence the attack? Otherwise, without the Genetic Store, we still can’t mine. We can’t afford another total wipeout; that would truly leave us with no chance to turn things around.”

”No way, can’t wait even a day more, let Tang Qian start attacking the Demon Beasts in the Primitive Forest first,

Since we’re paying per project, he is responsible for eliminating most of the Demon Beasts in the Primitive Forest before we can give him 10 billion Crystal Coins,

Can he finish in one day?

I reckon, without a month or two, it’s probably not feasible.”

(I’ll try to post the fourth update, no need to wait, because due to prolonged computer use, I’ve had acute corneal inflammation in my left eye for two days now, so I dare not type on the computer for long periods these days, updates might be less frequent, sorry.)
