Super Gene Hunting Ground

”Yang Xiao, Feng Ming specializes in civil engineering. If we’re going to build Wildman City, we should invite him over to plan the city design, including housing, neighborhoods, drainage, marketplace, and so forth,” Chi Lin suggested.

Hearing this, Yang Xiao laughed and said,

”You know, I actually forgot about that. Alright, I’ll send Feng Ming over later. In any case, you should spend more time in Wildman Valley getting to know Prince Grandpa and understand the situation. When issues arise, discuss them with Grandpa, no need to rush. Take things slow.”

Chi Lin and Du Hai were very happy. It felt almost like they had come to a paradise by arriving at Wildman Valley, which was a hundred times more comfortable than mining underground.

After chatting with the two for a while, Yang Xiao’s spaceship had returned to Wildman Valley, so he and the remaining dozens of wildmen boarded the spaceship and left.

At the mining base, most people were cutting down large trees nearby and transporting the huge logs to an open space around the mine to prepare for building houses and setting up fences.

Since the genetic store’s orange Defense Light Screen wasn’t available yet to resist Monster attacks, safety relied completely on these wildmen.

Fortunately, among the team of over two hundred wildman Miners, there were over sixty Emperor Level Evolvers, and the rest were King Level Evolvers.

Such a team was more than capable of handling the usual Monster invasions.

Prince Wildman specifically sent Qing Mu over as well. This way, with Qing Mu and Ah Bao managing the wildmen, there wouldn’t be any issues with disobeying Yang Xiao’s orders.

It took Yang Xiao and his team three days to build several simple wooden huts and a fence enclosing a few thousand square meters with large logs.

These fences couldn’t fend off large Monster attacks and could only block minor Beastmen invasions. The real defense was still dependent on the Guard Team.

Qing Mu and Ah Bao each led a team of twenty Emperor Level Evolvers as defense guards, patrolling around the clock in shifts.

During the construction of the wooden huts, they encountered several waves of Monster attacks.

Fortunately, everyone had strong Combat Power, and the invading Monsters were quickly eliminated.

Three days later, Du Tianxing, Gu Beifeng, and others began mining with the team.

Although the veins had extended to the surface, for convenience in future excavation, everyone still dug around the veins to create a large circular pit with a diameter of about four meters.

This pit surrounded the veins and went downt into the underground, weaving through like an underground tunnel.

Seven veins were mined simultaneously, with over a hundred people dispersing among them, each pit having around twenty people.

Feng Ming, true to his civil engineering background, had everyone transport the extracted mine slag under the wooden fences, piling it up along the fences. As more and more slag was accumulated, eventually, they formed a wall made of slag and stones, one and a half meters high and three meters wide.

Qin Lu praised,

”Good, once this stone wall is built up, we’ll be even safer.”

Purple Origin Crystal Stones began to be unearthed one after another, with Zhao Benling specifically assigned to collect and guard the Crystal Stones.

Everything was proceeding in an orderly manner.

The seven mining pits could produce about two to three hundred kilograms of Crystal Stones daily, and after half a month, the mine had accumulated nearly five thousand kilograms of Crystal Stone.

Qin Lu told Yang Xiao, according to the current purchase price from the Great Dragon Empire, one kilogram of Crystal Stone had a purchase price of 100,000 Crystal Coins, so five thousand kilograms of Crystal Stone were worth five hundred million Crystal Coins.

In a month’s time, they could produce approximately one billion Crystal Coins worth of ore.

After doing the math, Yang Xiao said to Qin Lu:

”Who would have thought that the mining base could be so profitable?”

Qin Lu smiled and said:

”These one billion Crystal Coins aren’t all yours. Take my father’s private mine, for example; from one billion Crystal Coins, first you have to pay a tax of fifty percent, which is five hundred million Crystal Coins.

Moreover, the miners’ wages are very high. You used to work at David’s base with a monthly wage of a million Crystal Coins, right?”

Yang Xiao nodded.

”You were only slave miners, and you needed to be paid a million Crystal Coins monthly. If it’s my father’s mine, those workers are hired from the marketplace, usually asking for wages above three million Crystal Coins.

At this mine, excluding security, there are roughly two hundred workers directly involved in mining, paying each one a million is two hundred million Crystal Coins,

and forty security guards, each at a million comes to forty million, making for a total expense of one hundred and forty million Crystal Coins. If their salaries were doubled, it would be two hundred and eighty million,”

If we add another million, that would be 420 million.

The cost at normal market price is 420 million, after deducting labor costs, we’re left with less than 600 million.

Assuming we have to pay 50% in taxes on that 600 million, we’re only left with 300 million Crystal Coins. Out of those 300 million, according to our shareholding, the Qin family having a 20% stake, we can actually only pocket around 60 million.

This doesn’t even include the amortization of other expenses. For example, our exploration has already cost us 200 million Crystal Coins.

If we account for all that, we are still operating at a loss.”

Yang Xiao nodded after listening.

He had never dealt with mining operations before; this was his first time dealing with the full operation of a mining base.

”What advice do you have, Brother Qin?”

”It’s actually quite simple, increase production, improve efficiency, and spread the basic expenses.”

”But the current issue is still the personnel; the hundred or so people drawn from Wildman Valley are already the limit. Wildman Valley itself also needs to retain a group of experts to defend the valley from Monster attacks.”

”Didn’t you say that there are four or five thousand wildmen in the entire Primitive Forest?”

”There indeed are four or five thousand, but they are all scattered in various small tribes. To gather them all here, the conditions are not yet ripe.”

Qin Lu nodded and asked again:

”How do you plan to pay the wildmen’s wages? Are you really planning to only give out 10,000 Crystal Coins per person per month? That might work short-term, but it’s not sustainable in the long run.”

”Why is that?”

Yang Xiao was surprised, looking at Qin Lu.

”The reason is simple, both Witch Star and Purple Origin Star pursue Genetic Evolution. For ordinary people, if they do not pursue Genetic Evolution, a monthly income of 10,000 Crystal Coin is entirely sufficient for basic needs,

but once they need to buy Genetic Potion, then it requires an expenditure of several hundred thousand to million Crystal Coins.

Take Station Chief Dai, for example, his salary coupled with the annual base reward bonuses, he can get about 200 million Crystal Coins, but he can’t save most of that money, he spends the majority of it on Genetic Potion to enhance his Genetic Evolution,

even though at his level of Cultivation, spending several hundreds of millions doesn’t make much difference. But as long as he lives on this planet, he must continuously spend money to enhance his Cultivation, otherwise, if he doesn’t improve, his competitors will defeat him,

even if he decides not to pursue his own Genetic Evolution anymore, he would have to invest the money in his family offspring to help improve their Genetic Evolution,

otherwise, once he and his family stop Genetic Evolution, they will slowly be eliminated by society,

Genetic Evolution is like a ceaselessly flowing river, and each of us is like a boat sailing against the current, struggling to move upstream. Anyone who does not work hard and keep up with the pace of the era of evolution, will be eliminated; no one dares to slack off,

Wildmen are the same, they normally rely on hunting Mutant Beasts, eating the flesh and blood of Mutant Beasts to promote their Evolution, now they have left their work to mine in your base, and if you only give them 10,000 Crystal Coins, do you really think they are foolish?

Once they’ve bought the skirts, clothes, pots and pans, and some Magic Weapons you provide, they will realize they are getting too little, and then they will strike.”

Yang Xiao nodded, he had always thought of Qin Lu as a playboy and a rich second-generation, but now it seems that Qin Lu is actually talented, with deep insights into many things, it’s just that he doesn’t usually show it.

”Brother Qin, according to your opinion?”

”Substantially increase the wages, directly up to 3 million Crystal Coins per month. Only then can you retain the workers, at the same time be able to attract wildmen from other tribes.”

”But, even if the wildmen have that many Crystal Coins, they have nowhere to spend them, we don’t have a Genetic Store, and no Genetic Potions to sell to them.”

”Therefore, we must introduce a Genetic Store. Only by establishing a Genetic Store in Wildman Valley, letting wildmen obtain a large number of Crystal Coins to purchase Genetic Potions, can you then truly unite all the wildmen around you, working and giving their lives for you.”

Qin Lu’s words were like sudden enlightenment to Yang Xiao.

Yang Xiao had considered this before, but hadn’t felt such urgency. It seems that now, the issue of the Genetic Store must be dealt with immediately. Once the Genetic Store is settled in Wildman Valley, the rest of the issues would naturally resolve themselves.

Yang Xiao thought for a moment, and slapped his forehead, remembering that when he left Earth, Gu Bo had given him a Jade Token, saying that if he encounters difficulties, he could go to any Genetic Store, show his Jade Token, and get help.

”Good, it’s time to make use of this Jade Token.”
